Sounds like a nice enough fellow. Of course at this point, this community would have taken Mickey Mouse over Erskine Smith. So anything over that is just icing on the cake. Can somebody remind me again - are we still gonna keep paying Erskine a hundred grand a year? If so, why?

Probably is a nice man.....but wait till he makes Carney or Atkins mad and he will be back on 77 N going back to yankee land. Still can't under stand why the yankees dont like things up north and they move down here and try to mess everything up like it was at home

Oh Hell!!!!!!!!!!!! check out the Charlotte Observer on line and read about the new town manager. No wonder they picked him he in in the cable tv business. You thought this board was going to be straight up. No wonder Rader picked him. We will probably need another 12 million for more updates when he gets here.

At least the late Joe Knox wasn't here to "interview" the new town manager. Joe had a nose for who's corruptible and who isn't. If you were incorruptible, you were OUT! So, I'll give this guy at least a 50/50 chance that he's incorruptible. Time will tell. Of course, with Smith "advising" (using the term very loosely) him things could go south real fast, like they did with former manager, Jamie Justice.

What we need to do is demand our town charter be re-written to take almighty power out of the hands of the town manager and why in the h*** did they hire ANOTHER YANKEE!!!!!!!. We do not need these blowhard windbags in our government. They do not understand anything about the South and most are rude. I'm sure there was someone from below the Mason-Dixon Line who would fit the bill.
I am begging you :
PLEASE COME TO THE PROTEST AT CITY HALL THIS COMING MONDAY, 6PM.

most of the "advising" came in the form of bullying from Jackie Moore, our Human Resource manager who thinks she is the town manager. I hope the new guy will give her a shape up or ship out notice.

2:59 - if this blog is half accurate those southern boys, hometown ones too, that are running the show for you right now are working out so well though huh?

I'll take a Yankee anyday over a good ole southern crook like the one we've been carrying for 30 years who's sitting up there in Town Hall right about now, or most likely playing golf or whatever he does besides work.

If Husemann gives Crone and Erskine Smith the "shape up or ship out notice", then he'll have my attention. Until then, I'm not holding out too much hope.

August 1, 2008 3:19 PM - Hey, if that's true, then why doesn't Smith fire her? He's got the authority right now to do it, right?!

Was talking about this Jackie Moore by the way, whoever that is.

Thats to me not the question...Why do all the yankees not like it or move to the south and then try to change everything like back at home where EVERTHING is messed up. Check the scandals in the north we have just a chief look at what all they have. If they want it like at home move the hell back.
If it hadnt been for the good ole boys making deals there would not have been a good place for them to move here.
Just like the monument in the "park" at main and center. It has stood here for years in honor of the brave men and women that gave that lives where we all could set here and bitch about things, Then people like Joe Cullen and others move here and want to move it. It will not hurt anything to leave it where it is. But you can rest assured that they do not want anything to stay the same in Mooresville

if you are asking who Jackie Moore is? She is the HR person for the town who I hear is not like by very many of her employees and she tries to run the town.

Anonymous said...

What experience does he have in cable? Can't find the link.

Smith would pee on himself if she yelled at him! Who do you think the witch is bullying now?

Anonymous said...

I understand the serenity park is part of an Eagle Scout prject in an effort to give a central, accessible place for all to visit these monuments, remember those who sacrificed for us.It must be evry painful for the McNeely family to have it moved, but now all can enjoy and have the sounds of the waterfall at War memorial instead of traffic and booming stereos. I think it is fitting for those on the monument to take their place alongside our other war heroes and heroines. The town hired a monument company to make sure the move is done properly. Imagine vets from this war who want to remeber the Beruit bombing , maybe they have lost limbs or they're in a wheelcahir. you can't get into that park now and I would want to mourn in privacy.

3:25 - self righteous? who is it that thinks this is all ok, you know cause its always been that way, obviously the majority of the town, they vote these folks in now don't they...mayor had only 1350 votes, abraham 544, carney 556, houston only 118 and rader was voted in with just under 1700...

now isn’t that a sorry story, just over 3000 voted at all, ya'all must like what you have, or don’t care...oh and I am a Virginian

I'm a southerner, born & bred. But I am READY FOR A CHANGE from the Dumb Ole Southern Boys like the ones who sent in the letter that was printed up for all to see in the article before this one. Like the Dumb Ole Southern Boys like the other managers we've had for the past 20 years or so. Like the Dumb Ole Southern boys who whored our beautiful part of the world out to everybody and are now complaining cause everybody's here! Like the Dumb Ole Southern Boys like the one who's writing on this blog calling "Yankees" rude when he's the one who's calling THEM names, telling them to go back home. What happened to the southern hospitality our mothers taught us? It's Dumb Ole Southern boys like you that give the rest of us a bad name.

Frank, is that you??!!! All this yankee-hating talk. I swear I've heard you use the exact same words before. If it's you, this is the last warning before I blow your cover. I warned you some other place in this blog. You didn't listen to the warning, and the beans got spilled. Pipe down. We're gonna give this new guy a chance, whether you like it or not.

Uh I think it's supposed to be KISS my grits?

Anonymous said...

u the one that said y'all come back now ya hear...well here's your sign stupid, they did

Anonymous said...

Hey, I heard there's an opening for TOM as a bio-solid waste manager. maybe we can slide 'ol Erskine over to there.

Anonymous said...

It doesn't say much for this guy when he's had the chance to meet Rader, Thunburg and Abraham and he takes the job anyway.

Anonymous said...

How many of you have actually been to a town board meeting? Have you sat through 100 of Rader's nitpicky questions about insignificant details which delay the meeting by an hour each time? This would give you a valuable window of insight into that psyche if you witness it.
Come Monday night. This should be interesting. If we only have 20 show up at the protest, then that's 20 more than have been brave enough in the past to speak up. It only takes one person to start it and we have more than that.If you like the way it's going, show up to show support for the other side. The police will be there so what can happen?Where will the frequent poster who calls someone the koolaide lady be? Probably at home. And by the way, where in the world is tic toc? Haven't heard from them lately .

Wow,many of you anonymous people act like a bunch of ignorant racist morons. For those of you who hate "yankees",please try to stop this worthless energy and instead channel this energy in doing community service, volunteer work, and you will meet all kinds of people. Yes, people, not red necks, yankees just good folks doing good things. Join us an I guarentee you will be amazed how alike we all are.
Jaime created this blog for level headed people to post their opinions, not turn it into a Jerry Springer thing. If you have nothing constructive to say, get the hell out of here and let those people that want change in the community share their thoughts.

Hey Vic, we'll make a deal. If the yankees will stop telling us how they did it back home, we'll just refer to them as neighbors.
Deal?
After all ,we were raised to show good hospitality which usually runs out about the time somebody either tailgates, blows a horn at a light a split second after it turns green or makes the back home comment. Other than that we're usually cool.
