Town Urges Residents to Stop Unnecessary Water Uses Immediately
In case you haven't heard or received an automated phone call from the town, here's a press release issued earlier today, urging town residents to immediately stop all unnecessary water uses due to malfunctions of two of the town's three pumps that operate the raw-water intake in Lake Norman.

So....we have roughly 4 days of water left...2 out of 3 pumps are "dead in the water" and "Repair crews are on site and will be pulling the two damaged pumps to see exactly what repairs are required and how long it will take to put them back in service."
Wow...that's comforting. One pump has been out for a week and now they are gonna pull them both out to see what's wrong with them.

I'm sure this is somehow Erskine Smiths fault. The Lunatic Fringe needs to get to the bottom of it!!!

Relax...really....I didn't take a shot at our beloved Erskine. I merely suggested that if one pump has been out for a week....maybe...perhaps...I don't know....we should've pulled it last week. Call me a lunatic...I know it's crazy. It's just it's the PUBLIC'S WATER. A lot of people like having water. It's just really handy to have around.
I know...we're all lunatics.

I thought the town spent mega-millions to connect to Hickory's water treatment system in case of emergencies like this. What good is the line to Hickory if they are not going to use it?
Here comes the bond to pay for this one, a necessity, H2O. I wonder like Jim, if customers who have Windstream service, but own a cable system because of being on Mooresville tax rolls, would rather have $80 million dollars paid toward this one, or dumped into M-I? I won't wonder long, the money should be toward water! But I'll be able to watch the race and have high speed internet(ooppss) while I dehydrate and slap on somemore deodorant. Wow, now I smell like Erskine, or did my dog just drop one?
These pumps have been a problem for years based on their history. Where is the regular maintenance? What about the new water plant and pump station that was suppose to be fully operational last spring, 2007? What is going on with that? Are we a full year and a half behind schedule? Is the Town still in the lawsuit with Duke over permitting? What a complete waste... a ship sailing into the night with no one at the helm! Can you say "TITANIC"? What about Exxon Valdese? Might as well throw in Enron for a three of a kind!
Oh Judith, I wasn't even THINKING about Erskine until you mentioned his name. Then I started thinking-where's he been in all of this? Why didn’t HE write the town statement instead of our FINANCE DIRECTOR? That boy needs to get off the golf course and earn that fat one hundred thousand dollar paycheck he’s been picking up for almost THREE DECADES. Thanks for recalling my attention on Erskine right when I started forgetting about him. I for one am about fed up with this crap.
Just so I don't get accused of being a card carrying member of "the Lunatic Fringe group" I'd like to applaud the town for getting the word out quickly. I received 2 phone calls telling me about the situation Friday afternoon. Well done, TOM!
(Hopefully my fellow Lunatics can forgive me for saying something positive!)
I did, however, notice they don't use the direct call method to alert people that their taxes are going to go up tonight and they can come down and voice their opinion.....
