Survey says ...

The Report recently conducted a 4-day poll, asking whether you believe the towns of Mooresville and Davidson should provide the additional $12.5 million for upgrades to the cable system.

By a vote of two-to-one, you said the towns should not invest the additional money. Of 60 voters, 40 (66 percent) said "no" to the additional funding, and 20 (33 percent) said "yes."

Thanks for participating in the Report's first poll!

It's interesting that the poll results were about the same as the public opinion at the last hearing last summer....2-1 against and yet they went against public opinion and did it anyway.

Since we know commissioners read this blog...any of them care to comment?

Maybe Rader (oops, I meant to say DocW) will come out of the woodwork again. Of course the last time he did (he suggested we show up at meeting and get our fair three minutes) it led to the very embarrassing exposure of just how unfriendly certain officials (uhum, uhum, the "Honorable" Mayor Bill Thunberg) are to speakers and their right to speak.

Hmmmmmm....does Frank Rader = Doc W?

Let's see....Frank is a big bluegrass fan......Doc Watson is an American icon bluegrass guitar player. Hmmmm...Doc W.....hmmmm.

The second night of vacation is good for wondering.

ok you tore me away from a night of Counter-Strike, Let me please assure you I am not Frank Rader, just a citizen/gmaer who likes the idea of the chance to get fiber to the house if for no reason but the great internet speeds. Better speeds = more fun playing CS.

And yes FTTP from MI maybe turning into a pipe dream, but its all i have to hope for.

Thanks for remembering me.

Doc...

You can dream of fiber to your home (which was never proposed or promised by MI Connection unless your home is a new business)....I'll dream of an internet connection that doesn't drop out three times a day....with no impact on my already inflated property taxes.

We can all dream.

oh no did i hear wrong? Thought the plan was FTTP to new builds residential or commercial after the initial rebuild was complete?

And after that any bad hybrid system would be replaced with fiber.

Afterall thats what MI knows best.

Guess i will have to drive to the MI office and get the skinny

Thanks

DocW

Are you going to move to a new subdivision to get faster internet speed?

MI Connection NEVER proposed to run fiber to the existing homes that support the system now.

As I drive around Mooresville it doesn't seem like attracting new subdivisions is a problem for us. (Have you sat on HWY 21 lately?)
Controlling the taxpayer's share of the cost for the new development on the other hand IS a problem.

To get this back on topic congrats Jamie on the success of the poll, its good to see people respond to a very serious question.

And Jim, my family is planning on moving up and yes if i had the same house with and without FTTP i would indeed pick the one with.

DocW

g-nite all

While DocW is dreaming about "FTTP" I'm dreaming about one day having a local government I can trust and respect. I bet my dream will come true first.

Until then, you can't wake up from the nightmare.
