Ouch. Chris continues to make bad choices.

The Mayor needs to resign now!! I voted for him, but now I'm totally embarrassed as I'm sure every citizen of Mooresville is also. If his wife doesn't divorce him and take him to the "cleaners", then she has no pride whatsoever!!

Gig? Looking after family? How, by carrying on with another female on the sly but very public? And just who is the woman with three names?

Anonymous said...

Chris Carney is in so thick with the Howards, he probably opened their mail and read Montgomery's resume before Rick or Mini me Howard. I just wonder what position with Langtree Montgomery thought he might be qualified for? They sure as hail (Trib. doesn't like other word) don't need laborers or brick masons. Maybe sign painter to keep changing those 'Coming in ????' dates on the billboards. As for the Mayor, perhaps it's time to have someone stay with him just to make sure he doesn't things to hurt himself or start handling any tools or sharp objects.

OK...let's all say it together!...

Bye Montgomery! Resign NOW!

This man Montgomery is mentally deficient and not capable of holding the Town's top office.

I wonder if he sent his resumes out via the Town's mailer?

He has to seek help; take a leave of absence, see a shrink, resign, Do SOMETHING!

Chris Carney. why don't you add something constructive for a change. You voted enthusiastically for Langtree at the Lake. You avowed your 'vertical construction' stance forcing a mega project on a bedroom community (Langtree). You voted enthusiastically for MI Connection. You have stood by while your ward has had to suffer through the Brawley School mess.

"tis better to light a candle than to complain about the darkness". Carney all we hear from you is rhetoric and bad decisions. So nice of you to jump on Montgomery! But so typical!

All-America City here we come!!!!!!!!!

hey, don't worry the sheriffs dept will hire him, look how many redmond has hired that got canned from mooresville

Anonymous said...

mini me...now thats funny stuff. by the way do you care to venture a guess on how much langtree owes the county in back property taxes. you can look it up if you care to do some research. carney has no room to talk about integrity. i do wish they would hurry up and build that ruths chris

Anonymous said...

Chris Carney -- weren't you the one who was telling some untruths to the people on Bluefield regarding the special assessment that was going to levied against them? And how is it that your neighborhood was left out of that proposed assessment? And how is it that the developer whose company owns (owned) that land served on the planning board and actually voted to approve requesting the special assessment which would directly benefit him and his company?

How many relatives do you and Miles have working for the town?

How many "scandals" have to occur before you and the rest of the gang denounce Erskine Smith for the library fiasco and the golf course situation?

How much longer are you and the gang going to allow the town to go into debt to pay for MI-Connection?

If you're going to become all "ethical" now, then maybe you need to go back and review the board minutes which indicate that board chose to award the water/sewer facility contract based not on what was best for the town, but was best for their friend. I think that's somewhat illegal?!? Maybe? Even in Mooresville?

I'm just sayin -- if you're going to get all "ethical" then go all out and really clean some house.

What kind of mayor claims to love his town and family only to view BOTH as "part-time gigs"? He's always looking out for new opportunities in ALL areas it would seem! I hope Mrs. Montgomery has enough respect for her children to find a better example.

I spoke with a former ad representative who worked closely with Mr. Montgomery at the Lake Norman Times. She said he would often alter employee time cards, docking overtime pay to cover his butt with corporate. He would lie about deadlines and expense reports, passing the buck and allowing honest people to lose their jobs to save his own. His trademark saying around their office was "You gotta look out for number one".

Seems that Montgomery is pretty consistent in screwing people over to further his own career. Including all of us. Mooresville deserves better and so does his family.

I worked for many years with Chis Montgomery at the Tribune. He has also worked with a sister publication in Concord. Make no mistake, he is a salesman at all costs. He'll say whatever it takes true or not to present himself in an innocent light. Interesting that so many things are "oversights" or "I didn't think". Chris is lying just as he always does. Making excuses for premeditated actions which resulted in getting caught.
Better audit his current paperwork with a fine toothed comb as it was speculated that his departure from Concord was due to discrepancies of a financial nature.
He may be dumb, but he isn't stupid. It's the old adage of playing stupid and denying everything. If you will recall, when first approached, he denied his affair. Then when confronted with evidence he stumbled.
Keep digging, Ms. Gatton! Chris will keep you in reports for a long long time!

Mrs. Montgomery,

You warned your husband about backstabbing and board members not being trustworthy. Take a good look at home. You are a good woman, but very much a hypocrite. Although I'm certain you are unaware of it as you would only see what you want to see. Chris Montgomery is a liar, a back stabber, and he uses people and offices as stepping stones. I only regret that his wife and family were not afforded any difference.

Anonymous said...

I didn't know all this about the Mayor or I would have never voted for him. I guess that's the point, though, right? If we had thought about his own campaign interviews where he told us he worked in advertising that would should have been a clue. Those folks say whatever to get you to buy. I feel duped. Buyers remorse.

Anonymous said...

Why haven't we heard more about this woman with 3 names and her affiliation beyond the affair? I want to know just how much city business he discussed with her? If there were texts and emails, you know there were phone conversations and pillow talk.

Anonymous said...

If you volunteer to be a public official, then you better make sure there's nothing you wouldn't want publicized about your behavior. Especially when you ask to represent a body of people. Only certain things should be considered private, but NOT what you do with public funds, equipment or time you are paid for. Maybe everyone on the board should be examined since there is so much finger pointing going on. Our mayor may have done us a favor by opening a large can of worms!

Corruption begets corruption. Montgomery has only settled with his own kind. However, when you witness something crawling under a rock, better lift the rock to find the infestation.

Anonymous said...

I DIDN'T KNOW THIS ABOUT THE MAYOR EITHER. WE SHOULD HAVE SOME KIND OF BACKGROUND CHECK FOR ALL OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS. INTERVIEW THEIR BACKGROUNDS AND PEOPLE WHO HAVE WORKED WITH THEM. WE NEED A BETTER IDEA OF WHO DIRECTS OUR TOWN AND FUNDING.

Anonymous said...

Lisa, it's true. You live with a stranger. It's just worse now. Open your eyes. He's only sorry because he got caught. He'd still be doing it if it weren't so. I've lived in Mooresville all my life. I've known him even longer than you. I just never imagined he'd do something like this to you or the kids.

Anonymous said...

I'm new to Mooresville. I've only lived here 2 years. I'm wondering what I got myself into. If it's this bad, perhaps we SHOULD consider resigning them all and starting over with a clean slate. Skip all the nonsense of sorting out the dirt.

5:00PM you must be a yankee..cant be satisfied with anything..go back we don't need you here anyway

Anonymous said...

5:58PM, no, I'm not a "yankee", and no, I'm not satisfied with half-baked slackers running the town. If you had any home town pride, you wouldn't either. I now pay taxes here, too. I don't want my dollars going to anyone willing to corrupt the system. Obviously you do need me here if you're satisfied with letting people screw you over. My guess is you're on the board or a relative of the Mayor. Not willing to stand up for the rights of others, not willing to do what's right just because it's the ethical thing. I'm from the south if you must know. I'm also a minister. It's not always easy to side with the truth, especially when folks like yourself think it's easier to shut the truth up and send it away.

Anonymous said...

I'm with you, 8:43. We need to uphold our town and our Southern values. What's happening to us? Do you really think telling people you don't need them here anyway is becoming of an "All American City" nominee? It sounds to me like certain members of the board and the mayor may have had the idea they could line their pockets off Langtree. Too many connections to people on the Town Board. Come on, are we stupid?

For all we know, Carney's response is damage control. Montgomery stepped on his turf and the Howards gave him a heads up.

We need to sort it all out and clean it up.

Anonymous said...

5:58, not very neighborly of you. Hope you're not running for an office anytime soon. Is that you, Montgomery?

Anonymous said...

What does where you are from have to do with unethical and immoral behaviour by our mayor?

And now...the Charlotte Observer has found out about our creepy leader....so now all of Charlotte knows we're led by "Mayor Rose Petal".

Makes you miss "Mayor Cable"....ok....maybe not.

Hey Miles: Durham has had a code of ethics for public officials since 2004. I'm pretty sure that's closer than Evans, Colorado. You've been talking about ethics since before you ran for office. It's all talk and no real action. Where's the ethics committee you promised?

Hey Chris: I'm sure elected officials did come up to you for some good gossip. They're probably glad it wasn't them that got caught. You guys are slimy.

The entire board is pointing the public's attention to the Mayor. I wonder what they're trying to sneak in behind us while they're diverting our attention. I'm sure they're glad to have this diversion so they don't have to answer any more questions about MI-Connection, water rates, and their own love affair with Erskine Smith. Just watch -- they're simply playing games in order to get something done behind our backs.

Anonymous said...

A simple search of the documents on the Town of Mooresville website shows the Ethics Policy was approved June 6, 2005 and has been updated since. Code of Conduct is different.

Anonymous said...

searched that site and found nothing ... do you have the link?

Anonymous said...

I have heard from several reliable sources that a certain town department head is once again pursuing another female town employee. Spending a lot of time in the HR Department and observed by many. Is there some type of Code of Ethics for employees? Maybe not using town equipment (who knows?), but what about paid time to visit your "friend"? Probably not exciting enough to make headlines, but just maybe there needs to be some rules about having relationships with co-workers when they are both married to other people. It might just improve everyone's productivity because they wouldn't have so much to stand around and talk about.Of course, that would only happen if the rules were actually followed.

Anonymous said...

So glad somebody brought up the town board's "love affair" with the good for nothing Erskine Smith. Of course, the other possibility is that there's no "love affair" deal, just a "I won't tell all I know if you keep giving me a paycheck" deal. I for one am tired of having to pick up the tab for all the dirty goings on. It ain't my pocketbook's fault if Erskine Smith knows where everybody's skeletons are buried. Give him the boot and show us your not 6 Chris Montgomeries in disguise.

Anonymous said...

Hey ya'll. I was just thinking that there may be a silver lining. It is a reach but I am an optimist.

We all know Chris Montgomery is 'dead meat' now. He is hanging around waiting for the next election to get booted. He has used up any political capital he might have had by acting like a real jerk and an embarrassment to those of us who elected him.

He has nothing to lose. He won't get reelected to any political office and will be lucky not to get censured by the Board.

So if he has any decency left and seeing he has nothing to lose, this might be a good time for him to do something, anything for that matter.

Chris, Man Up and take a 'cause' and run with it. Be it MIC, hiring a true Town Manager, looking at the Langtree at the Lake deal really close, open up the books on Crone. Do something that will move Mooresville forward. Forget the fact you are a womanizer and a dope for sending your resume to Langtree. You are still the Mayor.

Make an impact; your tenure has already been tarnished, so how about doing something positive (and distasteful for the good ole boys) before you leave office!

Can someone explain to me why the Howards went to Carney with this and not to the Town Attorney?

It would seem that presenting this to Carney has some undertones which need to be explained. Is there any significance to this?

The Howards and Carney are "as thick as thieves"
Carney is the Howards "boy" on the town council. They know how to buy political influence and it works.

And don't forget that the Howards and Commissioner Chris Carney threw their weight behind that loser former mayor of ours Bill Thunburg, also known as the Cable Mayor as somebody called him on the posts. They were none too happy when their money and influence was blown on Thunburg when Chris Montgomery slithered into his place against all odds. No matter how much money Thunburg and his cronies threw at the election he still lost. So is it any wonder that the bitter Howards and Chris Carney would break their legs running to tell on Montgomery? Its got nothing to do with integrity like Commissioner Carney said in the papers. We weren't born yesterday. I guess this is what it looks like when people who're up to no good start throwing each other under the bus. Not a pretty sight.
