Charges dropped against Miller; another man to be charged

This press release was just issued by the Lincolnton Police Department:

Lincolnton Police Department

Criminal Investigation / Narcotics Division

Press Release

Date: Wednesday, March 24, 2010

Case Type: Obtaining Property by False Pretense, Larceny

Case Number: 2010-000419

Victim(s): Zaxby’s

On January 19, 2010 a pocketbook was stolen from Redemption Outreach Church. The pocketbook contained a number of gift cards. Some of the gift cards that were in the pocketbook were used at Zaxby’s in Lincolnton on January 21st and 22nd, 2010. Security videos were obtained from Zaxby’s for the two dates in question. Both videos show a white male using the stolen gift cards. In one of the videos a second older white male was shown accompanying the suspect using the stolen gift cards. The video shows no evidence that the second older white male was involved in the use of the stolen gift cards. An individual came forward after seeing the video on the local news. The individual gave a statement identifying the person in the video using the stolen gift cards as Jamie Miller from Mooresville, NC. Along with that individual’s statement and other information, warrants were issued for Jamie Miller reference to using the stolen gift cards. The older white male was NEVER identified by the individual that gave the statement identifying Jamie Miller.

After the warrants had been issued, anonymous information came into the Lincolnton Police Department identifying other names as being the individual in the Zaxby’s video. The leads were followed up on by the Lincolnton Police Department. Stephen Eugene Travis was interviewed reference to stolen gift cards and he confessed to being the individual on the Zaxby’s security video. Two of the stolen gift cards were recovered from Stephen Travis along with other items that were purchased with the cards. Stephen Travis is cooperating with the investigation at this time. Stephen Travis will be charged reference to the use of the stolen cards. The investigation in the original larceny of the pocketbook is on going.

Jamie Miller was never arrested by the Lincolnton Police Department on the issued charges. The warrants issued on Jamie Miller reference to the stolen gift cards were taken to the District Attorney’s office by the Lincolnton Police Department so the charges could be dismissed. The District Attorney’s office dismissed all charges on Jamie Miller reference to the use of the stolen gift cards. In addition there have been news reports that the second individual in one of the videos was the father of Jamie Miller, Harold Miller a Captain at the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office. None of the witnesses that identified Jamie Miller as the suspect could identify the second individual. The Lincolnton Police Department NEVER identified the second individual as Harold Miller. The investigation of the case has revealed that neither, Jamie Miller or Harold Miller was involved in the use of the stolen gift cards at Zaxby’s.

I remember an officer's wife writing a letter to the editor because the Sheriff didn't attend her husband's funeral after he served as a reserve officer. Another butt wiping.

Anonymous said...

If Charlie's health was better and Ed hadn't passed away they would be making signs for one of the candidates too.

Lots of people wanting a new Sheriff. We have lots to choose from this time:

Bill Stamey (D)
Jeff Cheek (D)

Phil Blocker (R)
Mark Nicholson (R)

I can't wait for May 4th. Goodbye Redmond!

Anonymous said...

Incumbant is a bad word this year. People are ready for a house cleaning. Time to put Redmond in the dumpster! This November he will have been in 16 years... way too long. He became a professional politician about 8 years ago.

Anonymous said...

10:58 you are correct. Benfield did support Redmond the first time he ran for office. And, Redmond did fire 15 people, some at the request of supporters. Redmond then treated many of his main supporters very badly to the point where they can't stand him now. That is the Redmond way.

Tom said...

Benfield learned how to make signs when he headed up the incinerator fight. They won that. Then Redmond recruited him to make signs for him for his election, which he won. Seems like that Nicholson guy has a winning supporter behind him.

I am behind Blocker, but the more I hear about Nicholson the more I like him.

From the Redmond and Landmark March 27, 2010...

"Iredell County Sheriff Phil Redmond is co-sponsoring a fundraising event for McHenry next week.

Redmond is doing this despite writing a letter supporting Keadle's run for McHenry's seat."

"Several attempts to contact Redmond were unsuccessful."

Typical of Redmond to play both sides to his advantage. He could have picked the encumbant since he is in office, or not backed either.

My favorite part is the fact that he ran away and hid again as soon as there was controversy. Yeah, that's they kind of guy we need as the leader of a large Sheriff's Office. He continually demonstrates his lack of supervisory qualities by not taking responsibility for his actions.

Donna Swicegood should have told him that she had some drugs for him to pose with and then asked him about this when he showed up in 10 minutes. No wait, Donna wouldn't do any investigative reporting. Not on Redmond anyway.

I understand that Donna was assigned to cover the Sheriffs race because she asked for it. That is real convenient for Phil. Just more of his extended network covering his tail while he does what he wants to.

As Brother Phil say's, it's not what you do, it's what people think you do.

Thanks Donna for helping him deceive the public. Thank you Redmond & Landmark for allowing her to do that.

Anonymous said...

Who is supervising Phil? One thing that I have noticed is that Phil's motto, it's not what you do, it's what people think you do, isn't working as well for him since he isn't as sharp as he used to be. If you tell one lie you have to tell another to cover for that one. Pretty soon you can't remember all of your lies and you start screwing up. Age has got to be a factor here as well. Memory decreases with age and slso the number of lies accumulate with the years.

Lots of stress on someone heading towards 70. That could give someone stomach problems and other health issues.

Robert said...

7:50 that is the way Phillip Redmond has always been as far as taking credit for everything good and then hiding or blaming others when something negative comes up. That say's a lot about what kind of man he is. I agree it is time for a new Sheriff and we have plenty to pick from this time.

Maybe we should change the name of this blog to the bash redmond report. That name would really sum up what this trash is about.

Who cares how old the canidates are! Are you people seriously trying to tell me that you think mid 60's is too old to do anything?

I don't know about you people, but I still value the opinion, wisdom, and knowledge of my parents to this day. They are much older than sheriff Redmond, but that does not mean that they are too old to rely on.

I remember when Steve Benfield ran for sheriff, and how dirty he ran his campaign. He was the one who wanted the Sheriff's office to do something that could not be done, and when he did not get his way he preceeded to make big scene and then proclaimed that he was running for sheriff.

It seems like most of Nicholson's "main guys" have some personal motivation for helping him. I have to agree with the theory that they want their own push button sheriff.

Blocker does not even seem to know the law, and from what I understand he is still under investigation????

I don't really know anything about Cheek or Stamey, what are their qualifications??

I have talked to a lot of people here lately, and I have to say that I agree with their mentality...If it isn't broke, don't fix it.

I think we have one of the best Sheriff's Departments in the state, and I sure don't see any reason to change the leadership that got us there.

Anonymous said...

Why in the world are the same people that are trying to attack Redmond as being a politician trying to attack him because of who he is supporting for the 10th district???

It sounds to me like you just want to try to make ANYTHING an issue!

Larry Green said...

Don't know Stamey other than to say that he's apparently run several times for sheriff.

Cheek is a 30 year veteran of Statesville PD and is, I believe, still working with BLET programs as an instructor. From what I know of him, he sounds like a viable candidate and appears to have a good insight into the office of sheriff.

I'm not bashing Redmond or saying that one is, or will be, better than the other. I'm simply answering your question about some of the qualifications of other candidates.

Lets have a q&a on the congressional and commissioner candidates. I am really confused!

Anonymous said...

First, if the DA's office believes that there is wrongdoing on the part of a Captain of the Sheriffs Office then the DA's office has a reason to obtain the video and investigate. Now we know that is not the case. Captain Miller is not the person in the video. But the DA's office may not have known that at the time of the request. Also, Carrie Garvey is an employee of the DA's office so why is there an issue with her obtaining the video? Just because she is in a relationship with Chris Nitzu does not mean that there is a conspiracy against Phil Redmond. There have been so many accusations in this blog and slanderous comments it is unbelievable. I for one could care less who the ADA dates or who Nitzu is campainging for or who is sleeping with who. The issue is who would make a good candidate for sheriff. All of these backstabbing, negative, sladerous comments is not and should not be a part of the campaign.

Anonymous said...

Hey Larry,

From what I understand Jeff Cheek runs a lawn care business with his son, are you sure on the 30 years with the SPD?

Thanks for any info you can provide.

Anonymous said...

Hey 5:43 I agree 100%

There has been a lot of this trash talking going on, and it really makes me wonder why?

I think that it might have to do with the fact SOME of the people running don't have anything that they could do to better the department, so they are trying to run Redmond's name into the ground instead.

I know that's exactly what Steve Benfield tried in 2006.

Anonymous said...

?, why does the Sheriff and His Office vehicles along with all county vehicles use gas/fuel from Fast Phils? Easy, his wife is a Raymer, as in Raymer Oil of Statesville, NC. Follow it up and you will see.

Anonymous said...

Kool, money, money, money and more money. You can afford alot of PHIL REDMOND for SHERIFF signs, or make things go away into thin air $$$$$$.

Anonymous said...

If we would split the county just south of Troutman NC, Phil Blocker may have a chance.
BLOCKER BLOCKER is that you,,BLOCKER??????

Anonymous said...

Hell, if Blocker was "SHERIFF" his brother-inlaw would call all the shots. "John C." Do you want to go through that again?

Anonymous said...

Actually Fast Phils is a chain based in the SE of the US the County use Citgo's and other sources...........why doesn't anyone challenge the Sheriff on issues...u know why because he has done a great job and has made Iredell a Safer place look at the stats. Naionally known Interdictio team, High clearence rates of crimes, and employees there are happy.....Hell Nicholson still works there, his campaign manager is still a reserve there.....I am tired of hearing Nicholson has the silent support of everyone that is Bull he has very little and this is a way he can justify little support just call it silent. I am not a fan of Redmond but I will call a spade a spade..I AM GLAD HE IS SHERIFF, I like the COPS units that work my neighborhood and I like the cash seizures on the interstate, I also like deputies working in the county not a Statesville Police car on Perth Road

Anonymous said...

Store chains are all over, but the fuel comes from Statesville NC, go outside of Iredell Co. and see how, in most cases the gas prices are lower. You Know, or "You" would not have responded. Another "PHILER UP" for SHERIFF.

Anonymous said...

Another "PHILER UPPER" for Sheriff. I know all about the chains of stores, but the fuel comes from Raymer Oil for the stores in Iredell Co.
Go to any Fast Phils outside of Iredell and see the difference in PRICE. You know that could start another blog about the other oil Klans in Iredell Co.

Dont make fun of people off of HWY 115 south of Mooresville. (HA HA HA). You know in whats called, ______ town.

Larry Green said...

Yes, quite positive about his career with Statesville PD. His son owns a lawncare business and Cheek works for him as needed. Cheek continues to instruct for BLET in a few different subject areas, attended the FBI Training Center, and held supervisory roles in various roles while working for Statesville. This I know because I sat down with him to talk about his platform and to meet him.

Anonymous said...

I don't know how well known Cheek is (outside of Statesville), but I do know that you would not have to worry about his integrity. I do know that he is a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico,Va. That means that he went through a background investigation conducted by the FBI and he passed with flying colors or he would not have been allowed in. Less than 1% of all Law Enforcement officers get nominated to attend that training and it is a very high honor. That alone is enough for me to vote for him... I'm just worried that he isn't well known enough.

Anonymous said...

I have also meet cheek at a local eating joint in statesville. He is not a very friendly guy, but I am quite sure that he works with his son full time.

Anonymous said...

I would do a little fact checking before I kept talking about Redmond's wife owning Raymer oil. That is a completely different Raymer. So what is your point now? I'm also sure that Redmond does not own ANY FAST PHIL's.

Check your facts!

Anonymous said...

To March 30 10:51

You need to check your facts, most everyone knows that Prissy Raymer Redmond is the daughter of the late Ray Raymer who owned Raymer oil. She has a brother Ray Raymer and a sister who married a Fanjoy so I guess she does co-own the business with her sibling. Don't know what the Redmond store on 115 is called just always heard it mentioned as Redmonds store but it is a gas station.

Larry Green said...

Research indicates Redmond owned a company named R&R Oil, Inc which was in business from 1989 - 2004. Documents indicate Phil Redmond was president and Priscilla Redmond was secretary. Documents also indicate the company merged in 2004 with Redmond-Raymer, Inc.

Redmond-Raymer, Inc used to be called Phil's Cleaning Service, Inc with the registered agent shown as Priscilla Redmond. Following the merger, Redmond-Raymer, Inc was the surviving corporation, with merged corporations ceasing to exist. Redmond-Raymer, Inc documents indicate it is a superette, and gasoline outlet. The latest document filings for Redmond-Raymer,Inc indicate Phil Redmond is the presently listed as the President of Redmond-Raymer, Inc.

Fast Phil's is a corporation listing Herbert Lawton as President, Wayne Martin as VP, and Annie Sanders as Treasurer.

Just for your information.

As was said before, Phil has the money for all the campaigning he wants to do. I can't remember if it was this election or a past one but he reportedly made the comment that he had enough money to buy the election. Apparently he has the money to buy into and out of a lot of things.

Anonymous said...

9:17..."why doesn't anyone challenge the Sheriff on issues"

The things brought up here and other places are the issues. Just because the good officers at the office are keeping the stats up doesn't give Redmond a free pass to do as he pleases. His do as I say do and not as I do supervision has ruined morale.

"Hell Nicholson still works there, his campaign manager is still a reserve there."

Both true statements. Mark is currently working at the Sheriffs Office. He has a perfect Law Enforcement Record. If Redmond fires him it will obviously only be for political reasons. If he allows him to stay on, he can have people repeatedly pointing out that he is still there like you have done. I wonder if he will have a job if Redmond wins this thing?

The rest of your statement is more of the same old same old, all about what the good officers at the Sheriffs office have done. As I said it doesn't give Redmond a free pass to do as he pleases. His do as I say do and not as I do supervision has ruined morale.

Us employees are tired of it and so is the public that has seen it. Fifteen years is enough. Time for a change.

Thanks for bringing up that point 1:58. All of these things are the issues. It is a reflection of this Country when a Sheriff can do the things that have been brought up here and for some reason nobody considers it worth investigating. Apathy is the ruin of this Country and what a great example this has been. All that has to be done is for someone to scream rumors, and it all goes away.

It used to be that when something was in question it was looked into. People wanted to know. Now they don't care. Crooked Sheriff, all hell they are all crooked. It's okay. He treats employees bad and is one of the worst moral examples that can be set by a leader? No problem, he has officers getting drugs off the interstate.

The Sheriff has an inner circle that can do whatever they want and he helps to cover it up. The majority of the employees walk a tightrope worried about losing their jobs and that's okay.

One of his people harrass a victim they are supposed to be helping and after not firing him he tries to put him out on the road patrol. Another officer NOT in the inner circle gets accused of saying something he didn't say and get's suspended indefinately.

The Sheriff can be behind people starting lies on other candidates and stealing signs but he has the audacity scream foul when someone brings up the stuff he does that everyone in the Sheriffs Office can see.

Everyone at the Sherifs Office knows about the affairs of many of the uppers. Half the people in the county know. The Sheriff is notorious for being a flirtatous womanizer, but it's okay. That's just how old Phil is.

This Country is going to hell in a handbasket and we need change of offices from the top all the way down to the bottom. Now we have a "Reverend" on here taking sides with one of those immoral and corrupt leaders. It would have been okay for him to remain neutral and keep an ear open but no, he chose to say that it is all unfounded rumors by anoymous people. Somebody needs to put a name on their information. Now tell me, when nobody gives a flying flip about how crooked the head of the largest law enforcement agency in Iredell County is, what encouragement is there to put your name to the information?

One thing is for sure. on the day Phillip Redmond is voted out of office the information that people are afraid to tell now will come out and the general public will be astounded. The Sheriff knows that as well as his inner circle. They will do anything, and I do mean anything to remain in office so they can protect themselves.

Watch and see as the days get shorter to the primary. The hateful comments on here defending redmond are nothing to the mudslinging and evil tactics they will use to keep their power.

It has been bragged about how when Redmond ran the first time one of his opponents signs were pulled out and a whole truckload of them burned at the home of one of his closest men. If that is a lie, his man told it on himself.

They can't win fairly because wrong doesn't prevail over right without a fight. I would hate to be one of those on the Redmond bus waiting for the wreck. Knowing the truth about them is agravating, but knowing that what you have done and waiting for the hammer to drop sucks worse.

Right always wins over wrong in the end. It may be after Redmond is voted out and looses the control he has now, but it will happen. As sure as Easley fell victim to his past, the same will come of Redmond and his inner circle. Enjoy it while you can boys. It won't last forever.

Anonymous said...

Reverend Green, amazing how you have just arrived on the Sheriff scene and already know more than people who have been around for 25 years. It sure didn't take you long to hitch you wagon to the Redmond team. I know, you saw his video and paper trail. I thought you were smarter than that during the Crone deal, or did you start out being the devil's advocate on that as well? Seems like I remember you being one of the head organizers of the let's march with signs and demand something is done crowd.

You say this is all unfounded rumor. Well the same thing was said at the beginning of the Crone investigation. Loose money in the evidence room? Who cares, the Chief was helping underpriveledged children with his Cops for kids. People kept digging though and put the information out. It wasn't until after it was shown that well off kids were taken on trips by that program that people began to say, hey wait a damned minute. That got their attention and then they went back and wanted to know about the loose change and everything else that was brought up before.

I assure you that is the same thing going on here. I know, I can meet with you and trust you and share my information...right? You swung to the side of evil really quick on this one. No trust there.

With you being a Reverend I am sure you are or should be familiar with Ephesions 6:12. "For we are not fighting against flesh and blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places."

That is what we have here. The evil quality of the posts made by the Redmond defense team speak for themselves. God alows evil to reamin ion power for his purpose. Chronicles is full of evil Kings that were allowed to remain in power. Coincidently, one of those was alloed to remain in power for 16 years. This November will be Redmond's 16th year. Let's hope history repeats itself.

You can wonder if all of the information is rumors and with a political agenda, but to publically and whole heartedly discredit those with that information is foolish. I think Redmond slipped some of his Koolaid in your communion cup and when when he isn't in a position to serve it any more your mind will clear and you will see things as they are.

If you can't be totally objective, I would sit this one out. Some of us have known Redmond for a quarter of a century or more and it is time for him to go. The behavior that has always been there continues to manifest itself in a larger magnitude. It will continue to grow because the more that is done, the more that has to be covered. The more that is covered, the more that has to be done.

If you want to help out on this, step back and pray for Redmond and pray for the truth to prevail. If it does prevail there will be a bunch of people with jailhouse religion. Then you can go visit Redmond again but with your eyes wide open this time.

Anonymous said...

You actually said a mouthful there. I have known Redmond myself since the late 70's and without slinging too much mud here.....IT IS TIME TO GO.
I don't think his mind is as sharp as it once was. Not saying he is crazy, however he is going to slip up and cause a huge embarrassment to himself and the department, if he is allowed to go on with "bussiness as usual". Go on and pick out the gold watch and leave with some dignity.

Larry Green said...

@8:18am

Surely you don't expect me to "do" anything without verifiable facts. If you don't trust me, then send the info to Jamie Gatton, who invited people to do that. If you are expecting me to fight your battle without seeing the evidence, then you don't know me very well.

Action against Crone took place once documents were available and there was true evidence that to back up my beliefs. I was officially "the" organizer for the march on town hall and would march again if I had anything to go on. This stuff about "I heard this" or "I heard that" just doesn't cut it.

As for my knowing information, what I shared above regarding the businesses is all public information which was obtained via the website for the NC Secretary of State. A simple investment of 8 minutes produced all that information.

I've met with Jeff Cheek, with Redmond, and have interacted with Blocker. Don't know anything about Nicholson or the Stamey. I'm happy to meet with with any and all who are running for office, but I don't think I'm the only one who wants to meet them and know their platforms.

For the record, I have not hitched my wagon to any one candidate for Sheriff.

You might as well give up trying to defend yourself with the anti-redmond people. They will attack anyone who disproves anything they say. I am personally glad to see that someone actually took do some research before they started running their mouth. Thanks so much for the info!

Therein lies the problem, those who are so adamant that the sheriff "needs to go" aren't able to substantiate their claims. They rely on the grapevine. Scripture also says something about gossip, and I think it's against gossip.

Rev Greene I appreciate your posts. I hope that your mind is truly open as you stated. At least my perception of several of your posts is that you are starting to lean. I also took your last post a little raw. Meaning you would like to meet the other candidates. Why haven't you? Are you saying they should find you ?
I was told there is a forum of Sheriff Candidates tomorrow in Mooresville. Then today I learned it is not a forum to where we can ask questions at all. It is more of a meet and greet. Lets ask questions that are open aired heard and answered

Hey Ya'll I have spent about 40 minutes reading all the posts here. I hope that every voter finds this website. Right or not there is a lot of interesting and to me somewhat easily checked accusations posted of several people here.
I admit I was a "Duck" woman for sheriff. I think that man would have made Iredell County Proud! I just learned about a week ago that "Duck" was not running. I asked a few mutual friends why not. I was told about the siezure and search of his house by narcotics detectives of Redmond without a search warrant. I was told about his wife being transfered. Both within weeks of him being in the Troutman parade. I am not a Redmond woman by No means. I called "Duck" he said he was staying out of the race because of the potential costs to his family. He confirmed the search and transfer. So wake up people!

Those that are so adamant that the "Sheriff needs to go" arn't able to substanciate their claims. What a joke, for me, Chris Davidson's interview with Jamie substanciated the claims about drug connections and people not being charged. So my thinking is ,if this is true, their is a good possibility that alot of the other things are true and it's just a matter of time before hard evidence comes forward.

The reason I come to this conclusion is that I cannot find anywhere on the blogs on this site where the people defending Redmond have answered the questions about the Davidson situation and why it was handeled the way it was.
So, apparently there is no reason other than if you have good connections with Redmond don't worry about having illegal drugs. I did see where someone posted something about Chris Davidson being a campaign contributer for Redmond. I think this can be easily verified as I think that is public record. I don't have time to do that but I wish someone would, hopefully Jamie Gatton will do this. Verification of that would be more of what the Redmond people say is needed to substanciate all these claims.

Anonymous said...

What about the paper busting Redmond for writing a letter in support of Keadle but then hosting a fundraiser for McHenry? Again that is not people making false claims The Redmond and Landfill reported it as fact and the sheriff did not respond! I agree a forum for Phil and other candidatesto answer any questions from the floor!!! I would like to hear what happened to Duck and Keith Bills. I would like to know what happened to the 911 call from Phil's Food Mart and why a report from Lt. Austin is no where to be found? Yep there are people that answered the phone and responded to the domestic Phil. I bet they would answer if you don't

Anonymous said...

I just spent the last hour reading the different articles about the Sheriff, and I noticed a few trends. People seem to like to make one claim, and then when it is disproved the same attackers try to move to a new rumor. I also noticed that all of these rumors seem to come out of one camp. I also find it odd that this story involving Chris Davidson comes out 11 years after the fact, and it told by a known Nicholson supporter. Something smells a little fishy with that one. It is very easy to see who has a political agenda on here and who does not. I would like to hear the TRUTH about the candidates, and not these rumors.
I see that someone is trying to bring up something about a call at Phil’s Food Mart, and I can say that I like to go in that store when I am up in the area. It is a very busy place with people in there all the time, so I really doubt that anything could have happened there. Since you want to make it sound like something happened, why don’t you go ahead and tell us what it is!
I really don’t condone the trash talking that has been done. I know for a fact that Mark Nicholson’s wife has been telling people that Sheriff Redmond is corrupt, but when ask to give examples she can’t do it.
I also know for a fact that Mark had the boyfriend of his youngest daughter write something on the internet that alluded to Sheriff Redmond being a drug dealer. It read something like “The sheriff needs to keep his job so that he can get away with his “other activities”. That site has been taken down because people started making a fuss about the way it was written.
These are facts that I actually know. You can go to Mark’s facebook and see where there was a link to the post. You can also ask several people at various republican functions about Nicholson’s wife talking about the corruption.
I checked the other candidate’s pages, and found nothing attacking anyone else. This trend seems to be centralized in the Nicholson camp.

Good Wade everyone forgets Blocker has no experience in Civil, Jail, or Courts this is what the Sheriff does....Nicholson has NEVER SUPERVISED one person, never been to a budget meeting, when has he been to a commission meeting?

Redmond has a nationally Known drug unit, great crime stats, etc.......and we are to trade that in on a candiates that are not experienced. Police departments are way different. The sheriff has to keep all domestic violence orders, CCW permits, etc.Redmond has done a great job the only way he can be beat is by lies and unproven accusations.........ask anyone else what their platform is none will say because they cannot inprove on the Sheriff's record,Also Nicholson's Wife told my husband she had seen the video and was positive it was Miller,I guess she needs glasses. Redmond has my families vote and as long as we feel safe I could care less if he flirted with someone 10 years ago

Anonymous said...

Gerald Hege had a nationally known drug unit also.
I for one like the Sheriff... I just loved that "Saturday Night Fever" album he did way back when....no wait that was Barry Gibb. Oh Well
they loook the same anyway.

Anonymous said...

Gerald Hege never had a nationally known drug unit. He had jail that was painted pink, and drove around like he was Rambo. There really is not anything to compare to.

Anonymous said...

I think you should check your facts there buck-wheat.... several of Heges Drug Unit went to prison.... that is what made it nationally known. I did not mean it was a good thing to be nationally known. Don't jump so quick if you don't know what you are talking about.

9:08 sure didn't take you long to get on here and cover up the call to Phil's Food mart statement. That is the first I have heard that one and your lightning response tells me that I need to ask some people what happened. Thanks for verifying that for me.

10:01... the Sheriff hasn't kept up with crap. He doesn't even know how half of the things work up here. I know, I see it all the time. He is nothing but a big smiling jackass that takes credit for eveything that everybody else does. I know it, you know it and the Redmond and Landfill knows it.

"It's not what you do, it's what people think you do."

What is really sad is that he has a little pack of ass kissers working like hell to do all the damage control from the truth leaking out. Most of these same people talked crap on him regularly about how he is and now they have to write their names on the bottom of their shoes so that when Phil walks by everyone can see who they are. Nothing but their little kicking feet sticking out of his ass. Real smart of them to put their eggs in one basket. Especially when that basket is owned by an egg sucking dog.

They are a bunch of gutless wonders who the Sheriff has enticed with favoritism and rank to do his bidding. You boys are REALLY dumb. Where are the people you replaced? Oh yeah, gone. Forced to resign. One of the long time ass kissers was forced to resign not real long ago. Ask him what he thinks of Redmond now.

What is going to be good is when someone besides Redmond wins this election and you little piece of crap snitches start bashing Redmond. Don't think anyone will forget what you were doing prior.

Blocker, Cheek, Nicholson or Stamey. ANYONE but the hateful sneaky crook in office now.

Anonymous said...

10:21 There are some comparisons.

Hege had a pink jail. Redmond has a pink suit jacket.

Hege drove like Rambo. Redmond has his "walking tall stick". Wish I had a dime for everytime I had to hear that story.

Tom Zeller said...

What do you think of a man in charge of a law enforcement agency that claims to walk with God but tells several people including two females that he didn't blame Bill Clinton a bit. He liked good blow jobs too.

People don't forget this stuff. When the dam breaks you can rest assured that there will be a flood of truth.

Anonymous said...

Redmond has a habit of using people and then throwing them away like an empty beer can. His life-long friend Charlie Harley is a prime example. Charlie was Redmond's "Carl Rove". Charlie guided him and put him where he is today and look how he treated him. You people that are supporting him should wake up.

Anonymous said...

3:32.. yeah Mr. Green did some research. One of the "anti-Redmond people" brought up that Phil's wife was one of the co-owners of Raymer Oil.

One of Redmond's people jumped on and said that wasn't true! Someone needed to get facts straight.

The Green put the information up that proved what the Redmond rumor mill had started.

Now that you have been disproven twice, now it is time for you to say, "What does it matter who owns what?"

Apparently it does matter because it was instantly denied.

Another example of the monkeys in the Redmond control room. Another lie out in the open. It is falling apart boys! The more back and forth, the better it gets.

Anonymous said...

10:55 all of his current butt lickers were aware of what happens to Redmond's friends when he is done with them. They have sat back and snickered watching others get used and thrown to the side.

Since then they have drank some of Redmond's Koolaid.

Anonymous said...

It is truly difficult to see it when you are on the inside. And most of the (general) public can't believe it is really true. sad

Anonymous said...

Larry Green.. I don't expect you to "do" anything except quit talking trash on those who are trying to get the truth out.

You have clearly stated that they are all unfounded rumors. Evidence is hard to come by with Redmond. Hell, he made a video dissapear. What I have seen on here are not rumors, they are well known facts from people who have known Redmond for years.

I don't expect you to fight a battle for me, just stop defending someone who you know very little about. You seem like a smart guy. Sit back and look at the posts, really look at the posts. You may learn something.

Anonymous said...

11:10 is correct..... they are well known facts from people that have known him for years..... you just can't find proof down at the court house.

Anonymous said...

The court house? Is that where him and one of his current secretaries were caught smooching in the back stairwell? Yeah I remember that one too.

Anonymous said...

It was a domestic call from a woman. She said she had been assaulted. To keep with the warnings here of unsubstantiated accusations I will not go any further. But The 911 tapes were ordered destroyed and then Lt. James Austin answered the call. Those are facts. So if someone knows James there is the person to answer what he responded too !
I will say the statute requires an arrest to be made if signs of an assault exist and the victim states he/she was assaulted. But I also can attest a deputy by statute is not allowed to arrest the sheriff.

Anonymous said...

Well, well, well. I am sure James Austin will be getting a call from someone representing our fine Sheriff. Somebody else to hush up.

The dam is starting to leak. Redmond has his little ass kissing boys sticking their finger in the holes. Meanwhile he's out sticking his finger in other...never mind. Not the place for that.

You know, truth be known. Most people (unfortunately) wouldn't care if Redmond was out raking around. It is the double standard that is the problem. Do as I say do, not as I do.

That is the kind of supervisory skills Redmond has. That is why he has to motivate his people with threats.

Anonymous said...

Let me tell you how bad it is. An officer retired from the Sheriffs office several years ago. They despise Redmond and wanted to support another candidate.

In the end they decided that they couldn't openly do it. The reason? They still have friends who work there and didn't want them to catch hell because of that open support.

THAT is how bad it is.

Anonymous said...

I hope you are reading and learning Larry Green. A good fiction writer couldn't make up all of this stuff.

Anonymous said...

You all are scared to death of Redmond. The voters have seen all you and all you can do is talk about a mans coat....lie over things that are opinions....Redmond has my vote STILL NOT ONE OTHER PERSON HAS SAID WHAT THEY WILL DO DIFFERENT....just like the sex comment " he said she said" just lies IREDELL REDMOND IS YOUR MAN GO LOOK AT THE STATS ON IREDELLSHERIFF.com

Anonymous said...

Thank goodness Larry Greene is smarter than you give him credit for. He knows he can't fall into this kind of trash talk. Larry really helped us with the whole cop's for kids deal, but that was because there was ACTUAL PROOF.

People can get on here and post all the want to. Actually I think it is a few people posting over and over again, but just because you keep saying it does not give it any more truth. People would do well to remember that.

If the James you are talking about is James Alston then you better have some good proof. He is another ex employee who is supporting Nicholson.(according to Mark's website) It is really funny how all of these supporting NICHOLSON have all these stories to tell (all of the sudden.)

What job has Nicholson promised Alston. I hear that he is going around making all kinds of promises.

Larry I think that maybe you need to look into how Nicholson is running his campaign. I believe he was in the south end today campaigning in his county car, and according to his website that would be illegal. (I already checked and Sheriff Redmond drives his own personal car)

Larry Green Phil, it appears that one major source of low morale within the department is the lack of an assessment center to manage promotions. What would you do to address this situation?
Mon at 11:59pm · Report

Phil Blocker I will do an assessment for all promotions just like we do at the PD. t is so important to have things out in the open, i would also use the citizen advisory board to assist in the process.

This means a civil service Board. Larry Morale is high look at the numbers people do not work if they are unhappy.....also are deputies going to have the protection of the civil service board? ask that question...or how are you going to get countywide jurisdiction Iredell was the only one like that and an officer all but got killed....Maybe Mooresville officer should work Charlotte same concept

we're all reading this stuff -- specifics would be great. Again, this is all he said - she said. You who are on the anti-Redmond campaign can't provide one factual piece of evidence, or won't provide any evidence. You keep saying the same thing -- I hope someone will investigate this. Well, aren't you somebody? Don't you have the ability to post documents, do freedom of information act requests, and substantiate your claims? The same applies to those who post about what they hear Nicholson's wife is saying.

I, for one, would appreciate all you more learned folks sharing the facts with the rest of us stupid people. If all we have to go on are your posts on this blog, then there is nothing there that tells me I shouldn't vote for Redmond. I see your anger and frustration, but please back it up with FACTS.

I have lived in Iredell since 2001 and can't comprehend that some of you would allow this stuff to go on without taking a stand previously. Shame on you for allowing this to continue. You're awfully vocal on here as anonymous folks, but what a pity you can't find the strength to stand up in public.

Anonymous said...

Wow! looks like somebody struck a nerve! I didn't know you were in from stealing signs already.

Oh yeah, the sex comment... nope not a lie. There are several faces and names with that. Let's hope for Redmond's sake the dam doesn't break. There are a whole lot of people afraid of him because of the power he currently holds that will be lined up to get their say.

So if Green is asking that question, then he must be open to the idea that things are at the sherif's dept aren't so good. But if you check on Redmond's facebook site you'll see he posted the same question.

Sheriff -- it appears that one major source of low morale within the department is the lack of an assessment center to manage promotions. What would you do to address this situation?

so that seems to blow any theory that he has "hitched" himself to any particular candidate.

and morale doesn't impact employment. people need to work and will work wherever they can find employment. folks on here have been asserting that morale at the sheriff's office is very low, and now folks are here saying it's high. you really need to be able to support your statements with facts.

Anonymous said...

ask that question ask it yourself -- you're obviously on facebook looking at the conversation. oh wait ... you'd have to not be anonymous then. my bad.

"Larry Green.. I don't expect you to "do" anything except quit talking trash on those who are trying to get the truth out." -- ironic since you're the one talking trash

"You have clearly stated that they are all unfounded rumors. Evidence is hard to come by with Redmond." -- thank you for proving his point.

"What I have seen on here are not rumors, they are well known facts from people who have known Redmond for years." -- so well known you have no evidence.

"I don't expect you to fight a battle for me, just stop defending someone who you know very little about." -- we'll all asking you to do the same thing -- provide FACTS

"Sit back and look at the posts, really look at the posts. You may learn something." -- we're all learning how bitter some people are and how little evidence you're coming up with. I've been on here many time reading the posts and still have not found one shred of evidence to support these rumors. Sorry, that's what they are: rumors.

You can keep saying the same thing over and over, but that doesn't make it true. You want the rest of us to be informed, then give us some facts.

Anonymous said...

Well good question from Mr. Green. No, I personally don't go on the Sheriff's Facebook page because I see more than I want to of him through the week.

Just curious, did he get a response? If there is one it will be from one of his people, not him. That is the reason that many would like to see a public forum where the candidates can answer questions in person.

Then the public can see what they have already in Redmond and also what is available from the other four candidates.

Of course the Redmond team already stated that the Sheriff has proven himself as Sheriff and doesn't need to answer questions in a forum.

Slippery snakes!

I think we all need to hear from all the candidates can we agree on that? A public forum places a certain amount of duress on all of them as well. When we qualify with our weapons it is timed and we have different firing patterns to follow. That helps to simulate the stress of being in an actual situation.

Sheriffs have to make major decisions while under stressful moments. A public forum would help simulate that. Who can sponser it?

One rule; the candidates themselves need to be there. No stand in's! We can't have someone from the Redmond & Skidmark saying the "Sheriff said".

Anonymous said...

12:46 "You want the rest of us to be informed, then give us some facts."

This is the same dance that happened with Crone. It will come, it will all come when the tide turns the right way. Just remember what has been said.

Anonymous said...

Can we agree on a public forum?

Anonymous said...

If those were Redmond fans, you won't get a response about the public forum. Like I said, if he gets on stage then people can see what they have got and see who is available. Phillip Redmond can't afford to let that happen.

Shouldn't the Sheriff be someone who has balls?

Anonymous said...

I can hear his public speaking coach already..

Okay Phil you can do this. Let's start by s l o w l y removing the tampon.

Anonymous said...

Be really still, they said something about a damned public forum again!

Anonymous said...

Oh, one more thing. It keeps being mentioned that it is only one or two people posting things. Not so. I couldn't tell you who many of the posts on here are from that reflect the same views as the one's that I have posted.

That is an okay point I guess. But how many people do those posts represent? Glenn Beck is only one person, but is doing so with a large following.

The Redmond team has maybe 15 followers around the office. Everyone else is ready to see him go.

Plenty of choices this time! Let's clean house.

Anonymous said...

Somebody needs to follow Eades and Hayes for a week. That would be interesting.

Anonymous said...

You talking about Rick and Neil Redmond? Yeah that would be interesting to follow them around for a week; Campaigning with Dumb and Dumber.

The poor fellows have drank the Koolaid. They are not responsible for their actions.

Anonymous said...

I remember when Neil was telling everyone he was going to run for Sheriff. He didn't like the job Redmond was doing and thought he could do better. He wasn't bashful about it either. What happened between then and now? Did Redmond change? No. That only leaves one other option then.

He drank the Koolaid.

Anonymous said...

You know that post at 11:22 is typical of the un articulate bunch of morons that post at Redmond's bidding.

"But The 911 tapes were ordered destroyed and then Lt. James Austin answered the call."

Acording to them the tapes were ordered destroyed and THEN Lt. Austin was sent to the call? If someone had the power to order the tapes destroyed wouldn't they have just as easily stopped response to the call as well?

The problem with telling lies is that you have to proofread your allegations very well. Lies don't flow out naturally like the truth.

Also the statement, " Those are facts." is redundant among all of their posts. It is usually followed by the well used "look at the stats line".

Anonymous said...

I know some of you reading this blog don't believe what is being said because you don't see the PROOF. I can understand that. The sad thing is you will never see that level of proof because everyone is afraid to come out with it for fear of loosing their job. They have seen it happen to their friends and once you are kicked out you may never get back in. If there was some way to grant amunity to the officers....the flood gates would open (like you would not believe). I know because I am one that is afraid to talk also. I guess now you will start on me..but I have to work and support my family.

Anonymous said...

I just talked to Austin and he said he never got a call today asking him about this incident.

Anonymous said...

11:37 keep on kicking the hornets nest. You fools will eventually open something that you wished you would have left alone. Keep provoking and you will push people to the point to where they don't care if their name is on something or not. Once that starts, evryone will step up.

I have suspected all along that it will be pushed to that point anyway. Once you drink the Koolaid your vision and judgement are blurred. It would be a good idea to step back and look at the big picture for what it is instead of what you want it to be.

You are using a variated version of Redmond's motto. In your case it is, It's not how it really is, it's how I say it is. Of course I understand that reality for you at the moment is not a very positive option.

Amazing how even a liar tells the truth if you look into a bit. It will be the "right until someone has the guts to actually give proof"

Then it will be wrong, as you well know. I can wait. Knowing you are truthful brings a peace that makes it all okay.

Anonymous said...

Yep... "until" is the $100 word in that statement. Don't you have some DARE stuff to do?

Anonymous said...

12:12 Are you supposed to be doing DARE stuff? Or maybe you are doing Redmond's bidding so he will take you out of the jail after the election he has assured you that you will win. Or maybe you are posting from Wallace Springs Road. Or could you could be the one that is one of the heads in the office that the Sheriff has promised he will turn everything over to in two years after he wins? Or are you the other one in the jail that he has made the same promise to. Or maybe you are the one that got a job you didn't deserve and then should have been fired but weren't.

P.S. How did you do that bold print thing. That is pretty cool! Much more effective than all caps.

Speaking of Redmond, he had to be told his time was up at Carrussos tonight. He went on and on with his prepared speech and then left before the questions started. He was wanting to do like on here and hollar about his damned stats.

Just Blocker and Nicholson answering questions.

We need a Sheriff with some BALLS!

Old Phil probably had a family member to visit at the hospital or a bible study to get to. However if it was a justifiable reason for leaving I am sure he would have announced it. If he did announce it, I didn't hear it.

He had a couple of his monkeys to stay behind and get the scoop for him. Fine, fine example of what he does at the Sheriffs Office. Now they will do all the work and take their notes back to him and he will tell him them what to type on here and what lies to spread in the public to discredit Blocker and Nicholson.

I also understand that there is going to be another forum in Troutman on the 13th... can't wait. I wonder if old no balls with show up for that one.

Yes I agree, the Sheriff laid it out wellhe included all the accomplishments of the Sheriff's Office under his leadership. Yes I actually felt sorry for NIcholson he just has no experience to oversee a 18 million dollar budget, Blocker does not he was to busy on the trips with Crone...yes Jamie there were pictures.

Seems like a man with all the supervisory experience and years in law enforcement that Phil claims to have could answer a couple of questions.

That's right I keep forgetting... the Redmond camp has already said that Brother Phil shouldn't have to answer questions to the public. His record as Sheriff stands for itself.

10:10 Don't feel sorry for Nicholson. He had a ball exposing the Sheriff's Propane Car publicity stunt. I believe it was like $6000 per car to set it up? Lower mileage. Several other problems. Phil has "stats" on it though.

Too bad that as usual his stats don't match up with reality. Let's all go to Redmondland. Stats and Koolaid for everybody!

"It's not what you do, it is what people think you do."

10:07 you say the Sheriff was perfect? he meorized some "stats" and left before anyone could question him about it? That is as perfect as he gets because if he had stuck around he would have gotten his bull pointed out and the only thing that would be left would be the sh#t.

As I pointed out before and you apparently didn't learn, Steve made Phil Redmond's signes for him when he ran in 1994.

So it is okay for Steve to build signs for Phillip but not Nicholson?

Redmond is just as one sided on here as at the office.

His "do as I say do, but not as I do" supervision has lost him the respect of 98% of the employees at the office. The other 2% are the people who kiss his behind and get by with whatever they want to.

Thanks for another fine example for the public.

Did ya hear the fact that the S.B.I. lab is backed up like 1 1/2 years? That came from one of Redmond's glorious "stats".

If they are in fact backed up 1 1/2 years I don't think that Iredell County not sending stuff is going to hurt them any. If anything it will be a partial relief.

Some more Redmologic.

I also attended the forum tonight at Caruso’s, and I personally have to say that I am a little scared about the lack of experience in Mark Nicholson and Phil Blocker. Blocker by his own admittance has only supervised 10 people. Wants to close down a crime lab that is paid for by drug dealers, and wants to give county wide jurisdiction to all police officers; that sure doesn’t sound like anything I would like to do.

Mark Nicholson stated that he had only seen the 18 million dollar budget, but has never set in on a meeting. He also has no other management experience, but wants us to trust him with a department of about 300 employees’? Nicholson has obliviously never read the press releases by the sheriff’s office, because it states that the infrastructure for the propane cars will be paid for and put in by the propane supplier. The $5,800 conversion price will be paid for by drug money, and the oil will only have to be changed every 30,000 miles. That sure sounds like a great cost savings to me!

I have attended a lot of public events over the years, and I have never seen one where only the one candidate (Sheriff Redmond) was prepared to give a speech. I went into this meeting with an open mind, and actually slightly leaning towards Phil Blocker. I have now made up my mind and will be casting a vote for Phil Redmond on May 4th, and encourage all of you to do the same. We can not afford to have anymore incompetent person in office. Just look at what has happened in Washington by electing someone who clearly didn’t have the experience necessary to do the job.

One final note: Sheriff Redmond barely had time to finish his 12 minute speech, and that would be the reason that he didn’t answer any questions. The other candidates asked for questions because their speeches were only about 3-5 minutes. The speeches were supposed to be 10 minutes long so that should tell you what kind of preparation Blocker and Nicholson put into it.

Anonymous said...

Hate I missed it tonight! From what I understand from my Republican Women friends it was a big hit. Congrats to Sheriff Redmond for such a good speech. From what I hear you had a clear lead of votes in the room. Great news! It is nice to keep someone who has such good conservative values, and keeps the tax dollars in mind.

- Kathy
I have not heard anything from anyone in the republican party about another forum??? Whats going on with that? Has anyone been informed?

Anonymous said...

Finally a post with some thought behind it. Shame you tried to use that thought to defend someone undefendable.

Lack of experience seems to be the biggest arrow that is thrown always. That is where honesty prevails over years of undehanded dealings, intimidation and deception.

The $5800 conversion price per vehicle paid for by drug dealers could go into something more beneficial, like say local drug enforcement. Less local drugs and the crime rate goes down.

Just curious, who is going to be the supplier for the propane? Is Phil Redmond going to expand his business services?

You are saying the oil will only have to be changed every 30,000 miles, but the vehicle will still have to go in to service the fluid levels, tire pressure and wear, lubrication, etc. What is an oil change in the process?

You say that only one candidate gave a speech... Only one candidate went there with a bunch of wind to blow. The other two gave a short talk about themselves and then opened up for questions. I would rather get questions answered then to hear someone tell me what they want me to hear. Especially It's not what you do but what people think you do Redmond.

Nicholson must really scare you guys. Almost every post is an attempt to get in a jab.

"I went into this meeting with an open mind, and actually slightly leaning towards Phil Blocker."

Bull crap and horsefeathers.

Yeah, let's look at what happened in Washington... it got full of people who jump up and tell us how it is and how it is going to be. Nobody at the top is accountable to the people who elected them. It was refreshing to see candidates for office answering questions. I do understand that Phillip considers himself above that.

If the speeches were suposed to be 10 minutes long (that was a limit) why did Phil have to be told his time was up? As always, Redmond makes up his own rules.

12:33 and 12:43 are OBVIOUSLY posts by the same person.

12:33...(paraphrased) I attended the fourum tonight

12:43...(Paraphrased) I missed it tonight.

Some of us may be posting information numerous times, but we don't try to look like different people.

You Redmonettes with your Redmonlogic and Redmond lies aren't fooling anyone anymore. The problem with you posting on here is that your words are here to read. Unfortunately you are having to do what Redmond absoulutely detests and the reason he left last night and that is speak to large numbers of people at one time.

Redmond knows that what Abe Limcoln said was true, "You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time."

For that reason Phil would rather try to baffle one or two people at a time.

"If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullsh*t."

Anonymous said...

Phillip should have moved on to a higher political position before now. He stayed here too long and made too many enemies. Also, at a local level it is more likely that a mob will form when they have had enough.

He has isolated himself with his lies and treatment of others. His support has dwindled to a few fools around the office and some political allies that are as self serving as he is.

Fortunately, those who support him openly will be gone when he is, guilt by association. Last election he supported Karen Ray and Alan Martin. Both lost.

Political figures that supported him in the past now want him out. Big business men who supported him in the past, now want him out. How do I know that? becasue they have approached other candidates wanting to support them to get rid of him.

One businessman in the south end was not going to support Phil because they had a serious falling out but decided to after all so they could all retain power and control together. That is the only reason he has support from anyone.

There are a few people around that just don't know better. Those impressed by his articles in the Redmond & Landfill where they allow Donna to make him look good with photo opportunities and Redmond said statements.

One of the things the Redmond team never responded to was the photo opprtunity that Phil Pedmond used before last election. Barbara Ann Evans was being interviewed for the murders of two couples. Redmond had the interview interupted so he could walk her in front of the camera. It made her mad and she refused to talk after that. It should all be in the detectives notes unless those have been destroyed as well.

Redmond is a demented, self serving individual who only cares about himself. I can give countless examples of that, but it isn't even necessary any more. People are talking finally and the public is seeing.

Their posts on here have been a great testimoney to their lack of character and honesty.

Anonymous said...

By the way 12:33 you are one of Redmond's better letter writers, kudos. I wonder if you are the one from the jail that has been promised that if Redmond wins the election he will turn it over to you after two years. That promise has been made to people every election. You aren't the first one to get a kiss and a promise from Phil but in the end it will just be another screwing like all the others.

If it is you, I have to ask; was it worth burying the construction debris from the prison camp on your property? Hazardous materials have to be disposed of properly you know. Who pocketed the money from that deal?

Where did you drive the inmates to when you loaded them up in the van to work? Whose houses were they taken to while they were supposed to be working at the prison camp? Did you know it would be illegal for them to be taken to Redmond's home to work on a fence? Did you know that asbestos removal requires certified supervision and proper equipment?

Yeah, you know all of the answers to these questions and a whole lot more. I hope it was worth it.

The forum last night proved to be a very interesting experience.

I will try and go in order of what I am responding to.

The $5,800 conversion will save the taxpayers over $2.00 per gallon per car. That will be a significant savings. The Propane supplier is one of the largest in the country and is going to provide all infrastructure and training. Mark Nicholson made the comment that it looked good on paper. I guess Mark did not take the time to educate himself on anything he was going to talk about. All of the facts about the propane was printing in a press release issued by the Iredell County Sheriff's Office.

The savings from the propane car's can be used for many different things throughout the department. Redmond stated that he will continue to put new programs in place, and expand on the VERY USEFUL existing ones.

Blocker talked about getting rid of a crime lab funded by criminal's and going back to one that is paid for by tax dollars. Sure sounds like a bad plan to me. I am a republican, and want to see taxes decrease!

Neither Mark Nicholson nor Blocker gave a good speech. They both mumbled terribly, and Nicholson spoke so low that I could barely hear him. From what I heard, neither had any good ideas. They talked about wanting to change things, but never gave any clear examples of what that would be.

Speeches were supposed to be 10 minutes. Redmond went 12. Nicholson and Blocker went maybe 5 minutes. The only reason blocker started asking for questions was because he knew he came up short, and the same is true for Nicholson. The format was not supposed to include questions. Each person was supposed to give some information to everyone about the ideas that they had. The social hour was for questions. So I don't think you can fairly say that Nicholson or Blocker followed the rules. Sheriff Redmond went a little long, but at least he followed the format.

I notice that people are already trying to turn the attention away from this forum. Using tactics like talking about "hooking up" in yadkin. Lets stick to what we can actually prove for now. I saw what happened last night, and anyone that has any questions; feel free to ask.

Same post as last night rewritten to cover the posts that have been maed this morning. That's okay, I will make refernece to them later.

8:10...If there weren't supposed to be questions asked, why did the candidates draw names to determine the order in which they would answer. Maybe that was after your boy Redmond bolted for the door. Keep on pumping the crap.

Anonymous said...

What would the repurcussions be for improper removal and disposal of asbestos? Also for the pocketing of public funds for that improper disposal...

I do believe that is a Federal situation. Now how do we shut up a whole bunch of inmates and past and present employees?

Redmond pussed out last night. Let's move on to other things.

Anonymous said...

corrction, they drew numbers not names to detrermine who would answer in what order. My bad.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, that "hooking up in yadkinville thing". Seems like someone got caught in a compromising situation by another public official. That had to be embarrassing.

I don't need to prove it right now. It is enough that he knows that we know.

Anonymous said...

And once again... Blocker and Nicholson opened themselves up for questioning.

Redmond hurled some statistics and what he wanted everyone to hear but ran off like a little biznitch before anyone could ask anything that he couldn't answer.

There is a diffence between memorizing things and knowing things. Redmond doesn't know jack.

Anonymous said...

And yes 8:10 Nicholson does speak quietly because he is a very humble person. Unlike the pompous blowhard that you are defending in vain.

As you know, Nicholson is like Teddy Roosevelt.

He speaks sofly and carries a big stick.

Anonymous said...

The candidates drew numbers to see what order they would speak in. It had nothing to do with answering questions. The social hour was set up for people to ask questions, and then the candidates were supposed to give about a 10 minute speech. Don’t reticule the only speaker that actually gave a speech of the appropriate length just because your own candidate did not have anything to say.

You talk about Sheriff Redmond not knowing jack, but Nicholson was the one who made a comment about no infrastructure being in place for the propane after a press release and an article in the paper had all stated that the propane company was going to put all of that in place.

It seems like maybe you need to check your facts and actually say something that is truthful. You keep trying to spread the same rumors, but we need facts.

I didn’t write any post last night, and any post that I write will have a signature line with – J at the bottom.

I was merely pointing out my own PERSONAL observations from the forum.

How do we expect someone who already doesn’t have any leadership experience, budget experience, or general business experience to come in and run a department the size of Iredell’s when he couldn’t even convey a clear message with any real ideas to a room of 30-40 people?

These are the questions that need to be answered. We need people in office that know how to run a business, meet a budget, and create and maintain jobs. I personally believe that our current sheriff is the best one for the job and with that said; I urge everyone to vote Redmond for sheriff on May 4th.
If anyone has any question about the forum please feel free to ask.

Thanks,
-J

Redmond did not bolt for any door. He thanked everyone for the opportunity to speak, and said that he had to be excused because he had to attend another appointment.

8:10

You must be part of the Redmond team. How arrogant to say that Nicholson and Blocker only went 5 min. then let people ask questioins and that was bad. But Sheriff Redmond went on for 12 min about himself ( I think the paper evern worded it as touting hisself), when there was a 10 min time limit , didn't ask for any questions and then left before the social hour, when you say the questions were supposed to be asked and that's ok the Sheriff did a great job.

If what you say is true then none of the candiates did what they were supposed to. If the speech itself was supposed to be 10 min. Then Blocker and Nicholson were short and the Sheriff was too long so how could you think the Sheriff did fine. Same thing that has been said on here time and time again. Different rules apply to the Sheriff.

And for your information I think when there is a time limit is always better to be short than to go over, that appears rude as it either takes time away from someone else or makes the event longer than was expected.

Anonymous said...

"Mark Nicholson needs to get his facts straight" He said there was no infrasture in place for the propane. But just red the paper it said that the propane company was going to put the infrasture in.

Hey stupid ,if the paper said that the propane company is GOING TO PUT IT IN , does that not mean there is not one at the current time, they are GOING TO PUT IT IN.

I guess Mark Nicholson is telling the truth when he said there wasn't one. One being there and one being put in at sometime in the future are two different things. Get your facts straight and stop trying to fool everyone.

By the way when is this propane infrasture going to be put in by the propane company and how long will it take to do this.

And how safe is it to have a propane tank in the back of a patrol car? Does the Sheriff have some statistics to tell us about this compared to just the gas tank. I think patrol cars sometimes travel at high speeds, if there is a wreck how much more dangerous is it to have a gas tank and a propane tank in the car?

If there is a greater risk of explosion or something else is it worth the officers life to save a little bit of money ? ( which I am not at all convinced it would ever do.)

Anonymous said...

11:14 another example of double standards. They say the speech was supposed to be 10 min. Blocker and Nicholson did 5-6. Sheriff Redmond did 12 plus but Sheriff Redmond was the only one that did the appropriate timed speech. Guess you don't know there is a difference between 10 min and 12 plus min.

Anonymous said...

The social hour was before the speeches. I believe that was stated in an above post. So Sheriff Redmond was there for that.

From what I understand about propane fueling the tank just has to be set and the proper nozzle attached. Would not take but about 2-3 weeks.

There are cars currently running on propane all over the country, it is just as safe as a gas tank.

cleanenergysoultions.com would be a great place to look at this info.

I was not talking about installing the fuel tanks on the cars, I was talking about the infrastrure to fill the tanks when they are empty. The closest I could find was in Winston Salem and Charlotte, through U-Haul I beleive, and the price was 2.69 a gallon.

I think before the sheriff spends any money, no matter where is comes from, that the infrasture to fill the tanks should be there. It would be unwise to spend thousands of dollars making the cars ready to run on propane and then having to drive to Charlotte or Winston to fill up. Even if actually having the infrasture put in place only takes 3-4 weeks, when is this skeduled to start. Is the propane company that is spending their money to do this going to spend the money with only a few vehicles in Iredell using it?

I think you would agree that sometimes things don't work out as planned so having the infrastrue in place before spending the money on the cars seems the most sensible to me.

I will agree that I have read that propane used as a fuel alternative in vehicles is safe but I would still like to make sure this is the case for vehicles such as the patrol cars that run at high speeds and could result in high speed crashes.

Anonymous said...

The propane fuel conversion is nothig but a publicity stunt by a professional politician at election time.

If he wanted to save money he could have not paid $5000 extra per vehicle to get some SUV's in that he told the County Commissioners he had to have pronto. They are still at the county garage waiting to be outfitted. I can get the dates on all of that if I need to.

$5000 times 4 = $20,000.

Money doesn't concern Phil unless it is going into his pocket. He wants you to think he is looking out for the copunty's best interest.

"It's not what youd o, it's what people think you do." (Insert car salesman grin here).

Right Phil?

Anonymous said...

Actually I think there were 5 SUV's bought from Randy Marion in Mooresville.

If so that would be $5000 times 5 = $25,000.

Anonymous said...

As a person who attends many county commissioners meetings I can say that you are exaggerating the facts about the SUV’s that were purchased. The county commissioners approved the purchase from Randy Marion because he could guarantee a delivery date, and the other dealers involved could not. The commissioners authorized the purchase because the sheriff’s office needs the SUV’s as soon as the refitting is complete, and this was not an option with other dealers. People on this blog need to hear the truth, but not the exaggerating ramblings of someone who just wants to promote their own political agenda.

Anonymous said...

7:16 said "The commissioners authorized the purchase because the sheriff’s office needs the SUV’s as soon as the refitting is complete"

I believe they sat at the county garage a month or so before the needed equipment was even ordered. Ya'll can play with the wording all that you want to.

Money was wasted.

So the only question is was it $20,000 or $25,000?

Also, since you seem to be all up on the current Sheriff's office information; what kind of DARE program does the county currently have in place?

Anonymous said...

Political agenda is now defined as any use of the truth to get information out to voters. This is especially a bad time when we have 4 qualified opponents running. The LAST thing Redmond needs is for the truth to be told.

Anonymous said...

I never said I was up on all of the current sheriff's office information. I stated that I attended the county commissioner's meetings. So I would not have any idea what kind of DARE program we have.

Since you like to think that you are the self proclaimed expert of anything sheriff’s office related, why don’t you tell us what kind of DARE program we have. Wait, let me guess, I bet its bad, and Sheriff Redmond is to blame. That seems to be the general trend of your posts. correct me if I am wrong, and I am sure that you will.

How much money did Rick and Neil earn from the county SO the County Rec and DARE CARES for each trip? How much did their kids earn as Daddy got them a summer gig? Then 8:54 from the Redmond defense team said...

"..Phil Redmond did not cancel DARE camps have your not seen the economy they are taking mandated days off maybe the funding was down commissioner approve budgets...I guess you have to go to a meeting to know this."

Well homeboy I don't have to go to a meeting to see that there is $70,000 alloted for the DARE program this year. So as Ricky Ricardo say's... somebody got some splainin' to do.

What about the either 6000 DARE t-shirts or $6000 worth of DARE t-shirts that were in the budget. Was that diverted campaign material or was that money pocketed?

Ain't nothing but a bunch of crooks at the helm.

7:46 you are very easy to correct.

To the both (or one of you)...

Why is someone from Davie County coming over here to run our DARE Camp this year? Would it have anything to do with a S.O. supervisor not being wanted back at the camp because of inappropriate activity?

Before you start in with the rumors and proof demands, let me tell all of you that you really don't want that.

There have already been several of your boy's coming to confession because they can see that this isn't going to well for the home team.

All they are doing is confirming what we already knew. The more you decide to heat this up, the more people that will come forward and put their face and name to the statements.

Do tell why is it that tricky Ricky has been in all this inappropriate trouble that was proven "ligour bottles, beer slogans, sexy music , pics with teens an dancing "down" with them on his myspace page .. out of DARE because the Gattons in West Iredell complained .. OOhhhh wait thats right we technically promoted Neil Hayes and put him over it. But the Gattons did not realize Tricky still got those LT bars and still does the BS work for Redmond. That is like the county putting Joel Mashburn's name on everything since he is the manager.
By the way an earlier post said Phil drove his own personal vehicle. I assume that is true. But was it the same one the county gives him a $750.00 a month vehicle allowance for?
What about the first 12 years? He drove county owned vehicles to everything including political events and personal events with his family in the car in direct violation to county policy and State Law !

I didn't see 11:26 use any names, so no child was involved in that information. The boy it happened to is telling it which involves names, but it hasn't been mentioned on here.

Also I believe there could actually be a charge for that as the matter was handled using law enforcement authority and was not a law enforcement matter but a personal one.

It also seems that the questions needed to be asked of the daughter, not of the young man who dated her. As a parent I may have wanted to question both. As a law enforcement officer, I know that I would lose my job if I did the same thing and there was a complaint. But then again I am not one of the inner circle.

As for the Christian comments, now I believe I know who made the post.

Nicholson has always held up to the test of fire on anything he has done. Unlike our current Sheriff, he won't bolt and run when things get tough. I've known Mark for a very long time and never known him to let anyone down in a time of crisis and pressure. As a matter of fact he is the kind of person that everyone calls when they have a crisis.

The current Sheriff doesn't know how half of the things work around the office and doesn't know half the laws. He is from a day when there were a hand ful of Deputies and a couple of judges. Laws were simple and there weren't as many problems as there are today.

Phil has people who do the things that need to be done. Those people would still be there if Nicholson is given the opportunity to be Sheriff. The people who are good at what they do will still be there doing their job just like now.

The only difference will be that we will have a Sheriff that is involved and understands the working of all that is going on. What he doesn't know, he will want to know so he can support his people in looking for a way to do it better.

Like I said, I have enough faith in Mark Nicholson that you can ask him your questions in front of hundreds of people and I know he will give you a direct answer that is honest and well thought out.

How often has he ridden along with his deputies since he has been elected and particularyly in the last couple of years. How much time does he spend at his duties each week in the last year and a detailed summary of this? How many murder cases has he actually been involved with since he was elected? How many times has he come to the scene of any special unit such as the SERT team when they are called out since he has been elected. How often does he sit with is officers on the high way?

And why if he is doing such a good job are drugs so available in our schools and what is he doing about it?

9:46 you know the Sheriff is above answering any questions like that. let me give you the answer before they do. "look at his stats."

Those questions you are asking only apply to the candidates, not the encumabnt. You should know better.

Nobody is going to look into anything. The only way to put a stop to what is going on in Iredell County is to get Redmond out of office.

The SBI has been in here numerous times over the years "investigating" accusations of corruption and illegal activity. Other county Sheriffs are being charged left and right, but not here.

10:50 there are laws for many things, but they don't apply in Iredell County. You can look back over the things on this blog and I know most of them to be true. All of the indicators are there. Let me tell you it is like working for Phillip Redmond and constantly hearing the reports of wrongdoing.

It is like if someone told you there is a fire. You go look for yourself and you can see the smoke, feel the heat, but there is no proof of an actual fire. The people who know where the fire is are afraid to tell. When it is told, the SBI comes in, leaves and never another word. If Redmond finds out who told, that person receives repurcussions as a reward.

I never would have believed that Redmond and his inner circle could have gone on this long without being indicted.

In the meantime, Phillip and his inner circle can do whatever they want without any consequences unless too much evidence leaks out. Then they get shuffled to the side for awhile until the heat dies down.

Such was the case with Adams and him keeping firearms at the house that according to my understanding were ordered by the court to be destroyed. He was moved to the jail and permitted to keep his vehicle. Then moved back out to various positions.

Jenkins who harrassed a victim and was put in the jail only to be moved back to the road after they thought things had cooled down. Turns out it wasn't cooled down and he got moved back.

The Sheriff has reportedly been involved in dropping charges. Documentaion of one case is on this blog. According to the man with the felony drug charges pending, he had a meeting with Phil and some others and never heard anything about it again. The person that the suspect said put the plants there was never charged.

Two officers responded to a disturbance between two females in Harmony. The suspects became so disruptive and combative that they had to be pepper sprayed. Those charges were told to be dropped and were. You NEVER use esculated force on a suspect and then drop charges. A lawsuit for such wouldn't even go to court, it would be paid out. Roger Cleary Sr. and Jr. were the responding officers to that call. They handled the call proffesionaly, did all the paperwork only to have Lt. Jenkins (yeah another Jenkins) come tell them to drop charges. Who told Jenkins to tell them? If I had to guess, it was Redmond. One would have to ask Jenkins though and nobody will do that. By the way, that casefile has reportedly dissapeared from the clerks office.

More recently a video came out that obviously contains a top Lt. at the Sheriff's Office with his fugitive son in Zaxby's. Not even video can interest the SBI. Miller being with his wanted son would be in direct conflict with his position at the S.O.. but even that went away. The Sheriff took a gamble and had private showings of another video with Harold on it, supposedly at the same time he was supposed to be in Lincolnton. His gamble worked. When you have the backing of the powers that be you can do anything.

What about the accident scene where Redmond alledgedly rear ended a vehicle with a family. and claimed he was on the way to the hospital (like always) and threw them his business card and left.

What about the secretary currently working at the S.O. who told people herself that she failed not one, but two drug tests? Was she sent to any kind of drug treatment center or just cleaned up long enough to pass the test? Handicap laws allow for employees to seek help with the support of their employer. Was her doing drugs a problem, or just getting caught? Apparently just getting caught.

The things mentioned in this post are only a few small examples. The S.B.I. doesn't care, at least in this county. The D.A. isn't going to do anything. The only way to stop the corruption is to vote Sheriff Phillip Redmond out of office. Let him know on may 4th that his term of 16 years is enough.

We have 4 other candidates to choose from this time. They are all individuals from different walks of life. There is a candidate to suit every voter preference in Iredell County. There is no reason to vote for corruption this time.

9:46 those are good questions to ask at the forum on the 13th. I am certain that Phil will be there. He is a real stand up guy. A man's man. The Sheriff of all Sheriffs. A drug getting legend.

BBAAAAAAAAAHHAAHAHA. Just kidding.

Remember Buddy Coleman, School Superintendant? Remember all the money issues? Remember a band that went to Raleigh to play? Yeah... money paid from school funds that shouldn't have been. There is more as well. That was "handled" just like things are being "handled" now.

Ever wonder why no charges were brought against Coleman? He had Sheriffs Ofice connections. All of this stuff goes WAY back. Been a lot of water under the bridge and a lot more underhanded stuff since then.

When the dam breaks, it's gonna be bad.

I think the name of that band was the G men or something. Ricky D. headed that up didn't he? Seems Mike P. was in that then. Amazing how some people will act and what they will do when they go out of town.

And here we are, all these years later and they still haven't grown up.

8:31 They haven't gotten any more honest either. Money, women and cover ups.

How does as honest man pay over $20,000 cash for footers for his house?

Of course another way to cut costs is to have inmates working for you at you personal home. Spreading gravel, puting up fence and SO much more.

8:38 I think that would be a very good way to launder money.

Those "working inmates" have been used for many things over the years that didn't benefit the citizens of Iredell County.

It was great that they were used to work on the Old prison Camp. If only they had been used properly.
