Iredell County Commissioner Godfrey Williams passes

I just received word that long-time Iredell County Commissioner Godfrey Williams passed away earlier this morning.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family today...

Thoughts and prayers to the family and friends

Godrey has a servant's heart. If politics brings out the best and worse in people then Godfrey's worst is a standard we should strive for. I loved him as a brother. As good a friend as I have ever had. Steve Johnson

Real sorry to hear that. Godfrey was a really good guy and kept that wonderful attitude throughout all of his trials. My thoughts and prayers to the family.

Godfrey was a true example of a servant to the community. He really cared about the people of this county, and his life touched so many. Not only was he a County Commissioner, but he was on the school board, heavily involved in scouts, and led the youth group at his church for over 20 years. Those are just a few of the ways he worked hard to make my community a better place. We will have some big shoes to fill in his absence.

I have to say, I am one of the regular posters on the Sheriffs race which is obviously getting interested. I also posted on here as well. (2:14 AM was mine.)

It bothers me that so many posts have been made about the Sheriffs race, but very few took the time to say goodbye to a really good fellow.

Nothing wrong with fighting a good fight on the other posts, but that shouldn't be all that gets people interested in posting. Just a thought.
