And the winners are ...

Hey, guys! I'm trying to track down comments from all the candidates today. Meanwhile, if you're still unsure of last night's election numbers, visit the Iredell County Board of Elections webpage.

Meanwhile, here's a quick rundown of the winners:

Miles Atkins, Mayor
Bobby Compton, At-large Commissioner
Eddie Dingler, Ward 1 Commissioner
Thurman Houston, Ward 2 Commissioner

Here are my thoughts:

Jared Esselman made a huge tactical error when he refused to answer people's questions on this blog. He did a fine job with everything else, but that one mistake probably cost him the election.

Mitch Abraham getting unseated was a direct result of the multimillion dollar CH2M Hill scandal, which was his own doing and ultimately his undoing. It is a reminder to future officials to not try and force feed unwanted and exorbitant contracts on the people.

Hendrix never stood a chance against Houston, especially after he started carrying the golf course torch. The golf course director has serious public perception problems and it was foolhardy for Hendrix to try and revive a losing cause.

The biggest surprise was how close Alexander came to beating Compton. All the money was on a landslide by Compton. That didn't happen. Why?
Because Compton was exposed as someone who's afraid to take a stand that may anger others, even if taking a stand is the best thing for the town. The small margin of votes could be a warning to Compton that unless he changes his ways, he could get the boot in 4 years.

Hey loser I mean Skippy get the hell out and pick up your signs.

Esselman for Iredell County Commissioner 2012!!!

Do you think more people read this blog than voted?
I'm not sure Jared skipping the questions cost him 300 votes, I'm sure that many people are on here, but not 300-400, maybe though.

Mitch may end up being a tough loss for the town, we'll see. I'm afraid he was much more involved than given credit, Eddie will have some quick catching up to do. Eddie has already shown some trouble getting to events because of his store.

Houston and Skip actually hinted to spending more money on the golf course, Hendrix was pretty adamant on this blog about not spending any more on it. Thurmond will make an effort for a couple months and than back to same old same old, go to meetings, say what Miles wants, and cash a check.

I agree about the landslide, much much closer than I expected.

Grats to the winners!!!

I'm a little dissappointed I'm not one of them ;).

Thank You to anyone that supported me, and to those willing to express your concerns, it was all very much appreciated.

I think I got most of my signs down last night, ninja style. I'll be back around in the next couple of weeks to thank you personally. I didn't make it to Winborne or the end of Bradford, yet.
Again, thank you for the support, sorry it wasn't quite enough.

Esselman is useless. He can go back to Boston and take Skippy with him. Time for mom to retire. She's setting a lousy example for her students.

Anonymous said...

Like ya'll are setting a better example hanging out on here and calling people names? Haha!

Esselman for SherifF. He can run against Skippy and the rest of the crowd, since Redmond ain't running. That would be fun.

Esselman and Skippy can run for Sheriff against the other ten people, since Phil ain't running. That would be a lot of fun!!!

Redmond ain't running? Says who? Looks like Christmas has come early or there is another grand jury getting warmed up. I'm betting the latter.

Mitch is a bigger loss than many of you realize. He always educated himself about the issues at hand and I believe he made decisions that he thought were best for the town. I know some of you want believe that, and that is ok, because some of you choose to focus on the bad. I, for one, respect anyone who is willing to sit in that seat and put themselves and their family up to the scrutiny and criticism that comes with public office. To the naysayers..naysay away. :)

As for Esselman, I think his biggest mistake was that he started with the whole pie instead of a piece of the pie. If he had run for At Large, to gain experience and prove himself worthy, I think he would have faired better. Ahhh...the idealism that comes with youth.

Mitch quit posting sad musings about yourself on here and get a job.

Anonymous said...

Yes, Mitch does need to get a job and quit his anonymous pissing and moaning on here.

Another one who needs to get a real job is Jared. And 31 is not all that young. By the time I was 31, I was married with 3 kids and a 4th on the way and working 2 jobs. I'd been working full time since I was 17. And I served in the military too.

Anonymous said...

that was not Mitch posting. I just happen to be someone that can actually show some respect for others..not someothing most on here seem to know how to do. It must be painful to be that bitter and full of hate all the time.

Anonymous said...

OK Mrs Mitch. Whatever. Maybe people are bitter because he's cost us so much money and lined his pocket at the same time. Now you all feel bad because it's caught up with you. Tough. The rest of us have to work for a living. I'm sure one of mitchs pals that got contracts or whatever will look after their boy.

Billy,

There are several people in Winborne who are sorry you did not win because we had all hoped for regime change around here. Several of us took notice of what you and your dad did for Mrs. Fitzgerald and knew you didn't do that for the votes because you didn't put a sign in her yard. It was a nice thing to do and we hope you stay involved. You got some votes here. Nobody has been doing anything for us up to now. We'll see what the new mayor and at-large guy does for starters.

Anonymous said...

Not Mrs. Mitch either, believe it ior not there are regular people out there that just dont agree with you. As for the "lined his pockets" this is just another basesless claim that you idiots make on here everyday! I dare you to show us one ounce of proof!

I just wish that Skippy Do would get out pick up his signs.
He littered the town with them at least the ass could pick them up

ditto for Jared. His were out way too early and I'll bet they'll be the last to come down. Where's all his damn interns and dancers?

November 9, 2011 6:33 PM:
Redmond always say's that he is not running next time. EVERY year he has pulled that crap along with telling others that he will endorse them. He already has his latest fool running around now telling everyone that Redmond isn't running but he is going to. This person even switched parties from die hard liberal Democrat to Republican. Just what we need, another big fake for Sheriff. A chip off the old block!

Anonymous said...

Hey Bill! Want to comment on that?

Anonymous said...

How am I a sore loser? I said something positive about Mitch, and commented that many on here only focus on negatives, which is true. The response I got was "ok, Mrs. Mitch, whatever." You keep proving my point.

Anonymous said...

Then I asked for proof and your response is "Sore loser," which probably means you dont have any proof.

Anonymous said...

Read in the paper today where Mitch said he still wants to serve on different committees and stay involved.
It also said that Skippy was at the briefing and said he was going to stay involved in town business.

Fellows please take note the people of Mooresville DID NOT WANT YOU SERVING THEM.

If you need something to do, Mitch get a job and Skippy you can go out and pick up your signs.Think go back to Tuesday you lost the election

Anonymous said...

lots of Houston signs still out there. Get a job Mitch and take your suck-ups with you. Sour grapes.

Anonymous said...

Nothing but sour grapes on here for a long time! lol.

Anonymous said...

Still waiting for proof. :)

Anonymous said...

The proof was the votes Tuesday. Get over it and get a job, loser.

Should have known it was probably too good to be true about Redmond. Let the old bastard run. I bet he doesn't win this time. When does Tommy come up for trial? The longer that drags out, the closer it comes to election time. Keep dragging it out fellas. Oh, yeah, we all know, Tommy is as pure as the driven snow.

If you want to know the dirt on Mitch you have to get our former town barber who goes to church with Mitch to share it with you.

What was said did not concern me so I don't remember exactly what happened but I do remember it had to do with his church and some construction or elevator job or something like that.

Anonymous said...

At tonights MHS Football Game Skippy and Rader there together.
GOD forbid and help us if these two team up

Anonymous said...

Oh yeah, if the town barber says it, that is proof! And it was such a big deal that you dont really remember exactly what it was?

Anonymous said...

Everyone knows whatever Whitey Meadows says is true and you can take it to the bank.

Anonymous said...

So I guess that means Whitey Meadows has PROOF that Mitch lined his pockets as 10:41 claimed? If so, then why hasnt he done something about it?

Anonymous said...

Maybe he is too busy trying to come up with ways to cover up for his own indescretions and does not have time to deal with Mitch.

Anonymous said...

Maybe Jared can hire Mitch to help pick up the signs.
