Crone indicted

Former Mooresville Police Chief John Crone has been indicted by a state grand jury, the Report has learned from a number of sources this week.

The charges are unknown at this time because the indictment was apparently ordered sealed. That means the charges will not be public record until the indictment is served.

Nearly two years have passed since questions were first posted here about Crone’s Cops for Kids organization (http://thegattonreport.blogspot.com/2008/06/what-is-cops-for-kids.html). Within a week after the Report and The Mooresville Tribune exposed questions about, and discrepancies in, the Cops for Kids financial records – including a $361 deposit of “loose change from the evidence room” into the Cops for Kids account – the Town of Mooresville asked the DA's Office to bring in the SBI to investigate. And within the month, Crone was suspended, then fired.

Three months ago, District Attorney Sarah Kirkman confirmed that the SBI’s probe was complete but said she still had questions for the investigating agent (http://thegattonreport.blogspot.com/2010/02/sbis-cops-for-kids-probe-complete-da.html).

It’s clear those questions have been answered.

What is not as clear is why the indictment issued early this week was sealed, and why it apparently hasn’t yet been served. Current and former members of the law-enforcement community indicated to the Report this week that it’s common practice for the judicial system to allow current/former government officials – and even some private citizens – to turn themselves in, as opposed to being shamed by an official serving of an indictment.

The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office will reportedly be responsible for serving the indictment.

We’ll keep you posted as more information becomes available.

Thanks Jamie. The record and landmark is a day late and a dollar short like always. Have you ever thought about starting your own newspaper in Statesville. Obviously there are no skeletons in your closet the powers that be can use to silence you like they have the R&L.

Thanks Jaime. It is nice to know there is still one dependable news source in the Iredell County area. I hope other officials are paying attention to the story.

This is bittersweet news. Nobody is celebrating over John Crone doing the things that he did to put himself and his family and the MPD in this situation. On the other hand this should serve as notice to other government officials including the sheriff's department that there are eyes that are watching, and unethical and criminal behavior will not be tolerated any more. They will be exposed and rooted out. It might not happen today or tomorrow but it will happen. To everyone that is fighting corruption in Iredell County (from the people on the front lines to those that are helping from behind the scenes), keep up the good fight. As a citizen of the county, I want to thank you for the sacrifices you are making to clean up my home town.

I hope Erskine Smith takes note of this. his actions were outrageous as well.

Nicely said 6:31. One corrupt law enforcment leader gone in Iredell County and one to go. Lets get started.

Excellent!! All those that Crone screwed over should have a big party to celebrate. Is there a place big enough in Motown to have that many people? It has been a long wait for this day but so worth it.

What?! YOu mean to tell me that PenderCRAP (oops, I meant Pendergraft) actually did something???

Anonymous said...

Thank you Jaime for all of your hard work. I have been waiting years for this to take place. What is the word on Hillard and why he was taken home (without his badge and gun) this week?

8:22, May 22, I love your little nickname for our SBI director. For those of you who don't know, Robin Pendergraft is the so-called director, or rather mis-director of the State Bureau of Investigation. She was appointed by our so-called Attorney General, Roy Cooper, who along with Pendergraft are emerging as two more foot-dragging "problem children" when it comes to fighting public corruption.

well said, 6:31pm -- I am thankful that the slow wheels of justice are moving forward, but truly feel for the families Crone and others who will be negatively impacted by the C4K investigation. It will be interesting to see the actual indictment and whether or not Crone is the only person named in that indictment.

Crone's indictment has paved the way for Redmond's indictment and removal from office.

8:22 I don't intend this as a put down, but an indictment is a peace of mind thing, not cause for celebration. Energy that could spent on celebrating victory needs to be put into current issues and focus on direction under new leadership.

I have wanted Redmond out for the last 12 years. He has ruined morale at the Sheriffs Office by the use of fear and intimidation tactics and by inneffective leadership of which he has no part other than to scoop up press and throw punishment towards anyone who dares to defy him.

When the day comes that he is gone, the focus needs to be on rebuilding the Sheriffs office with a positive, productive atmosphere. There also needs to be a reformed sense of accountablilty to the public. The Sheriff is the most powerful person in the county and the current Sheriff uses that power without regard for the public to do as he pleases to bring benefit to himself.

Those chosen few who do his dirty work do so because they get crumbs and scraps that Redmond doesn't want. They are nothing but bottom feeders that benefit from the suffering of others.

Time for indictments. Time for removal. Time to make things right and focus on the future.

This town is full of ignorant people just wanting to get an innocent man in trouble for something he did not do.

And the town is full of ignorant people who refuse to hold town leaders accountable for their actions. The man did wrong and is now being held accountable.

No disrespect, I always liked the man, but a grand jury heard the facts. If there were no case against him he would have not been indicted.

Phil, I hope you are watching.

People you got much bigger problems than a former back country police chief who stole from kids or ancient sheriff who needs to go or measly two cent local public officials who can be bought for a dinner and drinks.

You really wanna know why nothing is ever done around this area? I got three letters for you. S.B.I.

The S.B.I. is supposed to be one of the big guns of checks and balances of white crime and public corruption. Instead for nearly a decade its director Robin Pendergrass has been one of the protectors of public officials who are white criminals at least in our region.

Whenever there's a fire she sends in her minions who act like they're investigating and then when the dust has settled gives the corrupt officials a nice clean bill of health thinking no one is the wiser.

Kind of ironic if some of Phil Redmond's people are the ones to serve an indictment on Crone when their own leader needs to be investigated.

Anonymous said...

There are those of us who for several years have observed with dismay how Ms. Robin Pendergraft, director of the SBI, has missed opportunity after opportunity to bring light to public corruption by holding those who are responsible accountable. It is now clear that others are taking notice of this unfortunate situation. It is indeed true that regardless of public outcry and regardless of the extent of evidence, if there is an overseeing agency willing to absolve criminality under the cloak of legitimacy, there is virtually little change that will take place. That is a sad reality, but a reality nevertheless. Those who wish to see true change must cast they attentions to Ms. Pendergraft, and even possibly her supervisor(s). When and if we hold those people accountable, it is very possible that we will see immediate and impactful change. Until that time, our cries will fall upon deaf ears.

Anonymous said...

4:05 tell me why other counties are investigated and indictments are served but good old Iredell keeps trucking right along? As one of the county commissioners stated, all of this will blow over and it will be "business as usual".

Anonymous said...

Why do you think it has taken two years for something to come of this? If Crone had done anything wrong, something would have happened much quicker. The Town of Mooresville is hiding something from its citizens. The man is innocent and the town doesn't want to be embarrassed. All they've done is waste time and money investigating something brought up as an idea but found to be not true after all, and that's YOUR money folks, wasted. Why not focus on other people in this town/county who have actually done things wrong instead of wrongfully accusing others.

Robeson County was a six year investigation and the Sheriff there got 5+1 years in prison. Time of investigation has nothing to do with degree of guilt. There are many other examples as well. Most took anywhere from 3 - 6 years.

We can only hope that the rumors are true that Redmond has been under Federal investigation for several years. The county can't take another year of him.

I wonder who Crone dimed out in the process?

7:31 am: Unless you or your family member has been effected by John Crone you will never understand the feelings that some of us have for this man. He has taken away jobs from people when it was not warranted, attempted to blackball good officers from obtaining other jobs in law enforcement, lied about officers, sent bogus letters of repremand to Training and Standards, took money from the evidence room. That is just a few of the things he has done. I know from personal experience what John Crone is capable of doing and I am going to celebrate his downfall. Maybe that is not the right way to feel but what was John Crone doing when he tried to bring me down and hurt my family? I do feel sorry for his wife and children but John Crone did that to them, not the citizens of Mooresville. He needs to be accountable for what he has done and take responsibility for his actions.

Do they normally bring charges against someone (after hearing the facts) who has done nothing wrong? I'm sorry but you need to go back and take Criminal Justice 101

Let's not forget how fervently former commissioner Frank Rader and former mayor Bill Thunburg and CURRENT assistant town manager Erskine Smith defended Crone and tried everything they could to protect him. Both Rader and Thunburg got voted out, but the citizens can't vote out Smith, so his salary is still siphoning off the taxpayers to the tune of a hundred grand a year. He's the leftover trash that hasn't been taken out yet and it's going to start stinking again soon.

Anonymous said...

I hope Rader's name is on that indictment for interfering with the investigation.

I think it is fair to give anyone the opportunity to turn themselves in, but also within a reasonable amount of time. How long can he wait? If it was any other civilian Redmond would have had him picked up and done an illegal "perp walk" by now so Donna Swicegood could do an article and photo of the Sheriff looking like he does something.

Remember the poker house cover up in Mooresville? I wonder what connections Redmond may have between that and other questionable activities. Maybe we have a stalemate. Crone is like redmond, self serving. He will tell what he has to in order to save himself. This should be interesting.

I did see Frank O. on Redmonds Facebook page awhile back where he was supporting the Sheriff and telling him he should sue the people who were talking bad about him. Connect the dots....

Anonymous said...

And you Mooresville people didn't have much interest in the Sheriff. Funny. All questionable activities in a county have connections to survive, or in our county's case, to flourish. I said a long time ago that the citizens of Iredell County are all in this together regardless of what area you live in. Corruption is usually tied together and is the concern of all involved.

Actually, exposing corruption and seeing that fit people are in elected postions is part of your duties as a citizen. It isn't the job of Jamie or the newspaper and the system is not going to expose itself. Time to get off our collective asses and fix our local government.

Anonymous said...

634 any money that is in the evidence room is property of the police department which he put into the cops for kids account. There is nothing he did wrong.

Anonymous said...

10:29 pm, Former mayor Bill Thunburg did nothing to defend Crone. Smith did nothing either. He gave Crone the choice to retire or be fired. Crone decided to resign and retire. The next day, Smith decided to revoke those choices and tell Crone he was fired, after he had already resigned. I don't see that as defending Crone.

Anonymous said...

9:33 money is the property of whoever it is taken from until their case goes to court and they are determined guilty or innocent. If innocent, the money is returned to them. If guilty then the court decides what is to be done with the money, not some egotistical jackass playing God.

Anonymous said...

If the S.B.I. was worth its salt it would drag all of Crone's supervisors before a grand jury to testify to their exact role in sheilding him when the Cops 4 Kids scam broke. Only then will we know who was and who wasn't protecting a corrupt police chief. One thing I know for sure. I've seen the footage of Radar and he'd be one to throw to the wolves first. But I got a feeling there was more than just Radar's skirts Crone was hiding behind.

Anonymous said...

@933am -- you're kidding, right. First, the money was apparently evidence, which means it should have been linked to a particular case. It is not the PD's private stash of funds. Secondly, it has not been made perfectly clear that C4K was not a benevolent organization of the MPD -- it was organized and run by Crone who used those funds for reasons entirely unrelated to the reasons he advertised.

HEADLINE: Missing $4 prompts evidence room inquiry; Civilian employee who had access is suspended; SBI investigating

DATELINE: MOORESVILLE

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Previous ~ Headlines ~ Next

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mooresville Police Chief John Crone suspended one employee and asked the SBI to investigate, after determining that $4 is missing from the department's evidence room.

Crone said officers told him late last week that money from the evidence room may have been mishandled.

Last Friday, he determined that $4 is missing and suspended without pay a civilian employee who has access to the room. He did not name the employee. On Monday, he asked the SBI to investigate. "There is potential criminal conduct involved," he said. Crone would not explain what he thinks happened to the money or say whether he thinks more than $4 is involved. He said it is routine to ask another agency to investigate anytime a police employee is suspected of wrongdoing.

It would be inappropriate for him to say much about the SBI's investigation, he said. Crone expects the investigation will take a week or two. SBI officials could not immediately be reached but typically do not comment on ong4oing investigations.

Copyright 2002 Charlotte Observer, The Charlotte Observer

How much did Crone divert to his own checking account from the evidence room? Yes, the C4K checking account used Crone's social security number and only he had access to it. It was not a Town of Mooresville account.

4:50pm: what did he, and by he I mean Crone(not the writer of this blog or any newspaper or news reporter) advertise Cops for Kids as? A nonprofit, I believe, not a charity. Before jumping to conclusions about what Crone did or didn't do, look up the real definition of a nonprofit instead of believing some of the half definitions found in this investigation. According to Wikipedia, A non-profit organization (abbreviated as NPO, also known as a not-for-profit organization[1]) is an organization that does not distribute its surplus funds to owners or shareholders, but instead uses them to help pursue its goals. Crone did not distribute the surplus funds to himself or other "owners." It was used for a the purpose of creating relationships between cops and kids. While you may define that in one way, you can actually create relationships in many ways. If you are so upset about giving your dollars to a nonprofit which you thought was a charity, I don't feel sorry for you. You have freedom in the United States, and freedom to do your own research and ask questions. Nobody was ever forced to donate to something that Crone himself represented as a charity.

Also, 5:14pm: The ones investigation this have bank records I'm sure. That is what an audit is. They have had them from the very beginning and if Crone had diverted money from the Cops for Kids account to his own, they would know about it and are obligated to include that in this case.

Anonymous said...

5:55 You are correct in the definition of a nonprofit, however, Cops for Kids was initially started to help underprivledged families and their children. It purchased presents at Christmas and bikes for children. That was turned into sending Crone and his favorite employees and their wives to locations such as New York and Washington DC. A trip to Las Vegas was planned until Crone was fired. The children that were taken on these trips were Explorers and the Mayors Youth Council, not underprivledged kids. This was not the intent of Cops for Kids. You state "It was used for a the purpose of creating relationships between cops and kids. While you may define that in one way, you can actually create relationships in many ways." The Explorers already have a great relationship with officers and the Mayors Youth Council as well. A trip to Las Vegas does not build a better relationship with these kids. The kids that need to have a relationship with officers are the kids that are exposed to the harsh realities of life. These are the kids that officers may be able to put on the right path and keep them out of trouble. Also, when the investigation began the MPD website was changed so that Cops for Kids had a different purpose. I saw both versions of the website so that is a fact not an allegation. You need to research a little more before speaking on this subject. It was stated in the media that the Town of Mooresville could not access the Cops for Kids account because it was in Crone's name. Explain that, please.

Anonymous said...

Also, 5:55 go to this website:

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_IJcd5XFS_g4/SGf8-0dXPKI/AAAAAAAAAJ4/1OYi7bFpIDs/s400/Cops_for_Kids_snapshot.JPG

And you can see the original Cops for Kids webpage that was posted by MPD.

Anonymous said...

It was not a non profit or a charity, it was a personal business account making it a for profit business. End of Story. Had it been a non profit or a charity it would be entirely inappropriate for Crone to take a penny from it, including the cost of his family trips each year. Crone is not going to be indicted because of Cops 4 Kids. He is going to be indicted for depositing the evidence room money into Cops for Kids. I will give a million to 1 odds. Any takers?

You also may want to look at the link to that website page for C4K to the first 2 words. It was not started in 1995 so that is a misrepresentation, it was started in what, 1997 or 1998. Not 1995, that alone is a problem.

Try again 5:55, better luck next time!

Anonymous said...

Why not wait until they serve the indictments, then we will all know what they are for and what the grand jury decided to be worthy of charges instead of argueing about what might be?

Anonymous said...

Ronald McDonald....The cops for kids was actually started before it was known by that name. A very small group of officers took it upon themselves to pull together some money to buy Christmas for some needy kids that otherwise would not have had anything. After that the officers came up with the name and held a car wash to raise money for the program. The money was kept in a lock box in the Records office by a lady named Joyce. She made sure ALL the money was there and ALL of the records were complete. Crone came to Mooresville in Dec of 1998 and sometime around Feb he decided that the money needed to be kept in his office and controlled by him. I truly think it started out with good intentions (even by Crone) however when the pot grew to large amounts, the temptation was too great. There seems to be some discussion about whether or not it was a NPO or Charity.... I don't know that you can call it either when you put TAX Payer money into it with a Line-item in your budget....I think that makes it embezzelment of tax money. Put that in your pipe and smoke it. I am trying to figure out if the other high ranking officer that was sent home last week is going to be named in the indictment and maybe that is why he isn't there?Guess I will wait and see once it is made public.

1. CFK was advertised as an incorporated entity on the website which is no longer displayed on the town's website.

2. After the investigation started, both Crone and the majors asserted that the CFK was never incorporated.

3. The website clearly indicates the purposes of those funds, and the publicity was clearly to get money donated to a non-profit or benevolent agency.

4. Funds were under the sole proprietorship of Crone.

5. There are ample bits of documents clearly showing monies were used for purposes other than the uses advertised by Crone and CFK.

6. One cannot take money out of the evidence room and place it into non-governmental account.

7. He apparently embezzled money from the evidence room.

8. He apparently received money under false pretenses.

9. Based on the inaccuracies listed on this website, there are discrepancies between the deposits and the expenditures.

10. Building relationships was not one of the purported goals of CFK.

There is no defending his actions -- go ahead and send around another letter for the people of CETO to sign and I bet none of them will sign this time. Why? Because they finally realized he did was he was accused of doing. There is no turning back now -- it's time for justice to be served and integrity to return to the town.

Anonymous said...

and just for the record -- CFK's documents filed for incorporation indicated it is a NP (non-profit)which must abide by 501(c)(3) regulations. So it was both a non-profit and a charitable organization by CFK's own paperwork. Crone fails on both parts.

I do believe that Crone made the same mistake that Redmond has made. If you are going to bend the rules to suit yourself, at least treat people good so that they aren't looking for a reason to get rid of you.

The thing to do is NOT bend the rules (or break laws) but if that is your inclination why make yourself a target of resentment and retaliation? Isn't that pretty stupid?

I suppose that is where the feeling of being invulnerable and untouchable comes into play. Well, Crone has been proven not to be bullet proof. Time to show Redmond the same.

You've done nothing for us since the day you were appointed by your buddy, Roy Cooper. It's time for you to step down and let somebody who's willing to work take your seat.

10:51 If that is true that explains why Roy Cooper wasn't interested in anything handed to him. Supposedly there are connections between Jim Black and Iredell County. I saw awhile back that Black got his sentenced reduced by 11 months. The feds don't drop 11 months out of the goodness of their hearts. I wonder if he provided informatuion on someone and if that is the case I can only hope that it is tied into Iredell County.

I just read the entry above by May 25, 2010 5:14 PM. I'm guessign they cut & pasted an old article. Am I understanding correctly that in 2002 the SBI came in at the former police cheif's behest for $4 missing, and that they then concluded their investigation in TWO WEEKS?????!!!

If indeed I am understanding this correctly, I then have to ask "What is wrong with this whole picture"? Let's see. The former chief sounds the alarm over 4 bucks, the SBI storms in, and in a whirlwind of efficiency and activity throws an unknown, unconnected, perceivably unimportant woman promptly into jail.

So far so good. The SBI's doing their work, right? So what the hell happened in 2008 when the same chief of police dips into a charity and takes cash out of the evidence room. All of a sudden, the SBI gets a serious case of lethargy, yawns, and chronic fatigue syndrome while the community waits and waits and waits TWO YEARS?

There is definitely something wrong with this picture.

I wonder what kinda arm twisting went on to force the S.B.I. to actually charge that corrupt s.o.b. with something. You just know they didn't do it willingly. I'd like to know who forced their hand and how.

Anonymous said...

actually the SBI has not charged anyone. They did their so-called investigation and turned it over to the DA. It appears that the DA must have taken it to the Grand Jury for them to find True Bill. Also Crone was not allowed to help with this investigation like he did in 2002. He was allowed to steer that one the way he needed it to go.

Why have the news channels picked up on this story

Anonymous said...

There is no news in Iredell County except for The Gatton Report. Everyone else only reports on what we already know after it has happened, especially the Redmond & Landfill.

Speaking of the devil and his understudies, what happened to the Redmonites? They should be on here stirring up problems. Could it be that they suddenly realize they have problems that they can't bully out of?

Property link here said...

I have never seen the amount of people dead set on seeing Redmond removed from office like I am seeing now. 15 years of questionable behavior and bad treatment of employees and citizens has taken it's toll. People have had enough and it is about time.

Crone's indictment has served as further encouragement to those who have wondered how so much could go on in this county and not be noticed by someone for such a long length of time.

I know Redmond has his interstate team that does a fine job of getting drugs and money as it travels through. But outlaw motorcycle gangs have toy rides and organized crime throw block parties as well. Redmond has those who do good for him, but he doesn't do good himself.

Redmond also shows a high clearance rate of cases, but has anyone explained how they get those numbers? That is more information that needs to be dragged out into the open. I wonder how the state will react to those methods? Is there Federal funding that comes in accordance to case solved and amount of incidents in a county? If there is then the feds will be interested to know about those methods since they were used to obtain money.

People have had questions as to how a man on a Sheriffs salary could afford such a nice house. Well, he makes almost $98,000 a year. That's a pretty good paycheck and at his age he should have things payed off so that isn't really that out of line. It was reported that one of the contractors got paid with $20,000 in cash, still looking to confirm that one. I have to say that sounds odd if it happened.

Then somebody said he owns a condo where his son went to college, sale price is listed at $229,000. Actually it is in his wife's name. Link above to that. Here again with his salary and at his age and the income from the store and oil business, it is still possible. Somebody said he owns a nice place in Virginia as well but I haven't seen the proof of that yet.

Yet another report of evidence dissapearing. Still working on that one. The information keeps rolling in because people have had enough and word has gotten out that a movement has formed to get Redmond out. It is amazing how many people are saying what Redmond has done and how many people want to see him face up to what has gone on over the years. Finally we will be able to restore order and accountability to the Sheriffs Office.

Iredell County Payroll link said...

Talk about pay... Robbins is responsible for the entire Mooresville Police Department and makes slightly over $76,000 a year. Carl is a great guy with unquestionable character who earns what he gets.

Rick Dowdle, the stumbling, mumbling puppet boy that we have for a Cheif Deputy makes more than him at $78,000 a year. What responsibilities does he have other than covering up problems for the Sheriff? I will admit that lately that has become more a bigger responsiblilty. On a side note, someone pointed out the other day that Goforth's steam engine turned up missing and Dowdle said he has those himself. Dowdle said, “Why would you go out here a destroy a steam engine? That don’t make no sense to me because I got ‘em myself.”

Interesting thought. Also interesting that he seems to be asking Goforth for the answer as to what happened to his stuff.

$78,000 a year for someone too illiterate to speak and mean enough to berate a man whose belongings dissapeared out of evidence. That $78,000 could be well spent somewhere else.

(Payroll info from the Mooresville Tribune link above.)

Another point; Who cares what kind of house Redmond has or what condo his wife own's or anything else. He is doing a great job, and that is all we have to worry about. Your right it didn't work to get Mark Nicholson Elected. But that was just the start of the movement to get Redmond out. Getting Mark elected would have been the easiest way to do it. And what a mess he would have had to clean up. Redmond might have left and no one would have ever known all the illegal things he has done. My self I would rather see him pay for what he has done. I am glad you sleep good at night knowing that there are good Law Enforcement in this county. That is true there are alot including Mark Nicholson. But your fellow Redmond is not one of the good guys.

7:19 what makes you so sure that 5:45 was fired by Redmond? Do you honestly think that the only people who want Redmond gone are the people who used to work here or were fired? I run into people everywhere I go that are upset that Nicholson lost the election, but more so because Redmond is still in. They are sick and disgusted.

Redmond's character is really being assasinated by the public now more than ever. Everyone was fed up and hoped he would be gone when this term ended. Now that they realize that he will potentially be in for another four years they are pissed.

Comments on this blog are kind hearted compared to public opinion. One person talking to another gives more freedom of speech and boy are people being free with it.

Redmond has spent the last fifteen years developing a reputation that was built on the foundation of his reputation when he worked under Leroy Reavis. None of it good.

It is what it is and you can try to cover up for as long as you want. Don't blame you. If I had dug a hole for myself like you have, I would probably do the same thing. Denial to the end.

Well, if Redmond is as bad as some say he is, then this should serve notice that illegal activities won't be tolerated. However, without facts in hands I can't join the anti-Redmond wagon becuase I have no knowledge of any of the sometimes veiled issues raised against him. Put them out so we can verify and then you'll have a lot more support.

And for Frank Easton(and your supporters): We all know you hate John Crone because he was the only one who had the guts to have you sent away from the high school because you were threatening to blow it up on 06/06/06. We also all know about your "hit lists," and in mine and the majority of other people's opinions, that calls for action, or at least checking you out. Quit using your autism as an excuse, bomb threats are dangerous no matter who you are. While your little group of supporters may be mad, this was four years ago. You also need to grow up.

Having read through all available documents, including the school's and the 1 page of paper provided by the MPD there is no basis of fact in your comments about Frank Easton. Nice try to derail the focus though. Those allegations were baseless, and unless you have actual proof, then you're doing nothing but spreading rumors -- which is what got that whole thing started in the first place.

Jamie -- since those accusations are falseless, can you remove them?

All this bickering and nonsense back and forth goes on because those who are charged with getting to the bottom of such things refuse to do their job. It is the job of oversight agencies such as the SBI to fully investigate, not sweep under the rug. There is no public confidence in that agency any longer and it is bound to create a sort of social anarchy because the citizens cannot trust the agency that was created to resolve such situations.

11:24 you summarized it all right there. There are many "rumors" involving Redmond (and others) that have enough validation to make them credible. If the S.B.I. would do it's job correctly, these things could all be investigated and the lot of us wouldn't have to be on here trying to get information out to get them in here. Instead they throw the responsibility back on the citizens who then have to fight it out with the very people that need to be investigated.

6:43 spoken like a true Redmonite. You know, Redmond would have made a great leader for a third world communist country. Therefore your post fits right in with their philosophy.

The statement that the Redmond Regime has made for years is, if you don't like it here you can leave, but it beats flipping burgers.

In other words, we know we are a bunch of assholes and it sucks the way you get treated, but it is still better than working at a burger joint. The Redmond way of employee treatment is a communistic dictator way of thought. Always has been and always will be. The recent dropping of certifications and the firing of several part timers for political retaliation is a fine example of King Redmond's "off with their heads" mentality.

You have done well in representing his viewpoint with your post.

To 7.01

I bet you would like me to tell you one thing that Redmond has done so you and he could start focusing on that one to get rid of it just like you did the Miller tape. But no I am not going to tell you here on this blog, but it is coming. Until then I guess you will just have to run the 100s of things he has done wrong through your mind and decide on which ones to work on.

Anonymous said...

7:21 First and most importantly it is called freedom of speech.

Secondly, if Redmond would do something about his narcassistic personality he could benefit from listening to employees about what is wrong in the department. As a result, the department would benefit and so would the citizens of Iredell County and he could stay in office as long as he wanted to and leave as a legend in a good sense. Everyone would hate to see him go.

On the other hand, firing and dropping the certifications of other candidate supporters only serves in proving the claims of employee intimidation. The public display of retaliation is indicative of what goes on behind the scenes at a greater level.

As for your comparison of selling Fords, we aren't supposed to be selling anything. That is the problem. Redmond is selling a false perception of himself to the public and trying to get employees to back up his bullshit.

We shouldn't be selling anything, we are supposed to serve. Redmond is to serve the citizens of Iredell County and the people who work for him as we are citizens as well. As employees we are to serve the citizens of Iredell County under the direction of a committed and honorable leader.

Funny you should use the example of selling cars since Redmond has been compared to a greasy used car salesman for years. His shit eating grin of a photo has encouraged that.

Anonymous said...

Also 6:54 before you start yelling FREE-SPEECH your right, don't tell me about free speech i fought for it an you can say "almost" anything about me you want <> BUT <> not while standing my yard an if you don't understand that your not smart enought to be a LEO !!!

Anonymous said...

If the facts matched Redmond's fake image, we wouldn't be having these problems. Redmond comes across as a caring, kind hearted soul who's goal on earth is to humbly serve others without benefit or reward to himself.

In reality, Redmond couldn't give a flying flip about the county or his employees. His life is lived for self indulgance and personal benefit.

When the facts start hitting the press, everyone will see the extent to which this is true. I am sure that many will be astounded, even the majority of those who faithfully voted for him in the primary.

7:57 typical Redmond post; take a well written post with many great points, pick out one point and make a raving illiterate response. Yes, freedom even allows people like you the right to express your opinion.

By the way, the Sheriffs Office isn't Redmond's yard. It belongs to the people of Iredell County. He is there to supervise and lead. He is a renter and not the owner.

Damn, is this Phil posting now?

I have nothing to hide and nothing to lose. You on the other hand have more to hide than you are capable of hiding and everything to lose, including the potential loss of that freedom you say you defended. Ask yourself, was it worth the stress you are going through now?

Those of us who have already paid the price of suffering under Redmond's dictatorship will get the vindication we deserve. Those who have enjoyed protection, favoritism and prosperity under Redmond's lead still have to pay. I'm glad I'm paid up.

A better question is: If Redmond is so wonderful why do so many of his former employees speak out against him?

Anonymous said...

It took years for it all to come back on Crone. You had MANY people speaking out against him, however they all came across as "disgruntled former employees". Even though there were facts to back the stories, nobody wanted to look into the facts frankly because the stories sounded too wild to be true. It took a long time but it has come full circle. I think the same will take place with Redmond in the end and then the real facts will come out.

Who does the SBI Director answer to? That's who we need to go to about why everything in Mooresville and Iredell County is constantly getting swept under the rug.

Anonymous for now said...

I believe the the SBI Director answers to the Governor. Remember Easley who is probably about to be indicted himself? Bev Perdue was his Lt. Governor. So how far do you think a complaint to them will go? If they push to have something done they will probably be implementing themselves.

Inconsistancies run to the top. It will be interesting to see who tells on who when the feces hits the air mobilization device. Jim Black got eleven months off his sentence. He must have dimed someone out.

Some in Easley's group are alledged to have ties and information that lead back to Iredell County. If that is so, hopefully they have talked to lighten the load on themselves.

I was recently told about Iredell connections to a Federal judge. I was surprised to find out how many people had been told about that one. The more you ask the more you hear.

The way this group around here works is they get you in on the benefits of something and then hold it over your head to keep you involved in the cover up and continuance of more activities. I think that is what happened to several at the S.O. who used to be pretty decent people. They bit the hook or "drank the Koolaid" so to speak by allowing themselves to be involved in something that they were told was okay. As the saying goes "we used to do it all the time". This would be in reference to a previous stint in law enforcement.

The happenings in this county run deep and long. When this thing busts open the public will be astounded. I won't. I have seen and heard enough to know how bad it is. A book could be written about all of this when it is finally over.

The system moves slow. Read the Redmond and Landfill online this morning. Andrew Ramseur is recorded on surveillance walking into a store in Statesville and calmly killing two people before leaving to go to Walmart to go shopping with the money from the robbery. The first person shot was on her hands and knees offering no resistance or threat at all. She was executed and had small children she was working to support who now have to grow up without their mother. The other person was an innocent bystander who tried to help and caught a bullet in the chest for his effort.

That was in December of 2007, almost 2 1/2 years ago. How much longer do you think it takes to dig into a system that is protecting itself?

A few of the naysayers on here (who know better) have scoffed and said that if there was anything going on then someone would have been charged by now. They only wish. The system is slow, but the wheels are finally turning.

Ex-chief faces embezzlement, obstruction indictments

By Donna Swicegood | Statesville R&L

Published: May 28, 2010

An arrest warrant is expected to be served at any time on former Mooresville police chief John Crone, following indictments stemming from the Cops for Kids scandal in 2008.

Law enforcement sources say an Iredell County grand jury has indicted Crone on two counts of embezzlement and one count of obstruction of justice. The indictments will become public when Crone is officially served and arrested.

Crone resigned in July 2008, then was fired in August, amid a town investigation into his handling of money for the police department's 10-year-old Cops for Kids program.

An investigation by the Tribune in late spring of 2008 had uncovered what appeared to be extensive financial discrepancies in the Cops for Kids charity program, which was overseen by Crone.

Then, in September 2008, town officials notified the U.S. Attorney's office about the "potentially inappropriate use" of federal drug asset forfeiture funds, discovered during the investigation into Crone's Cops for Kids organization.

When Crone was fired, at least one Mooresville commissioner cited a number of "issues" discovered during an inventory of the police department's evidence room as part of the investigation.

The town's September 2008 correspondence with the U.S. Attorney's office noted that town staffers and an auditor hired by the town to investigate possible discrepancies in Cops for Kids financial records also discovered that $4,862 of the funds were used in 2002 to transport 37 youths and 21 chaperones on a field trip to New York.

Seized drug funds, the town said, "were used for similar travel purposes."

The town's investigation was eventually handed off to the State Bureau of Investigation then began an investigation that culminated with the indictment

Sing to Smugglers Blues by Glen Fry, a little Monday mornin’ music

Every fight worth fighting needs to have a song.

There's trouble on the beats tonight,
I can feel it in my bones.
I had a premonition,
That he would not go alone.
I knew the phone w

as loaded,
But I didn't think he'd dial.
Everything exploded,
And the money began to spill.
So RedCrone, here's your cop sticker,
Put the phone in your hand.
Here's a little money now,
Do it just the way we planned.
You talk for twenty hours
And I'll pay you twenty grand.
I'm sorry it went down like this,
And someone had to lose,
It's the nature of the business,
It's the Fundraisers blues.
Fundraisers Blues

The Sheriff and the Chief,
The cops and the law,
The pay offs and the rip offs,
And the things nobody saw.
No matter if it's fundraisng, or a Christmas children’s bash,
You've got to carry weapons
Cause you always carry cash.
There's lots of shady characters,
Lots of dirty deals.
Ev'ry name's an alias
In case somebody squeals.
It's the lure of easy money,
It's gotta very strong appeal.

Perhaps you'd understand it better
Standin' in my shoes,
It's the ultimate enticement,
It's the Fundraisers blues,
Fundraisers blues.

See it in the headlines,
You hear it ev'ry day.
They say they're gonna stop it,
But it doesn't go away.
They call it through County, sell it in the town.,
They hide it up and tell you lies,
I mean it's here to stay.
It's propping up the the crooked men, County, Morresville too
You ask any F.B.I. man,
He'll say There's nothin' we can do,
From the office of the President,
Right down to me and you, me and you.

It's a losing proposition,
But one you can't refuse.
It's the politics of Fundraising,
It's the fundraisers blues,
Fundraisers blues

I read in the newspaper about John Crone's indictment and decided to come and see if the Gatton Report had this story. Much to my surprise, I read in here that Ms. Gatton reported this 6 days ago. The article stated that Mr. Crone has not yet been served his papers. Justice does indeed move slowly, but it appears it moves more slowly for those who hold or have previously held positions of power.

I can only imagine how quickly any one of us would have been arrested if an indictment had been passed down on us, especially if we are poor or unconnected or unknown.

Anonymous said...

Sued by a thief in a prison uniform. You must be kidding.

Vexatious litigation is legal action which is brought, regardless of its merits, solely to harass or subdue an adversary.

Take your best shot!

Anonymous for now said...

11:56 Thanks for the response to my post. So, I still have to wonder what influence the Governor's Office has over the Attorney General and the S.B.I.

Fortunately they don't seem to have influence over the FBI or the governor wouldn't be being investigated. Also, as for my earlier post that Jim Black must have dimed someone else out, the following is an excerpt from a Wikipedia page. I can't vouch for the validity of it. My understanding is that anyone can go on that site and add information.

"Federal prosecutors have said the plea deal with Black involves his assistance in their continued investigation into political corruption in North Carolina government."

Link above to the original information.

Anonymous said...

4:18... How do you know if you might defame someone or something in what you are about to publish? There are three tests which the defamatory statement must meet in order for a plaintiff to prevail in a suit against you and your publisher:

Untrue. In order to be defamatory, the statement must be untrue. If the statement is true or substantially true, then it is not defamatory, and the case is over.

Damaging. In order for the plaintiff to prevail, the statement must have caused real and substantial harm to the person or business. The plaintiff must present evidence of the substantial harm done.

Knowingly false. The plaintiff must also show that the defendant knew the statement was untrue, but published or broadcast the statement despite that knowledge.

(End of article. Entire article is on the link on the sidestrip of this blog on the left.)

I don't think anything ever posted on this site will fall under that criteria. If anyone tries to sue it will be as 4:31 said, "solely to harass or subdue an adversary."

I really think that ya'll have kicked the hornets nest enough, but as Rooster Cogburn told the outlaws holed up in the shack, "You do what you think best."

You do realize that if a lawsuit is brought out that the sources of that information will recieve subpoenas which will be highly amusing considering the inner circle will be the people getting most of the calls to testify. Then they will have to tell the truth on themselves, on others and on Redmond or risk being caught and charged with pugury.

You have two kinds of people in the inner circle; those who tell what they know because they are proud of what they get by with, and those who tell what is going on because they are covering their back for when this whole thing goes down. That way they can claim to have objected to it all along.

I can't say that I will have sympathy for either one.

Anonymous said...

Just keep on thinking that, if you were so sure that you have facts. We know by now that you would have came out public. There is know other way around it, and no matter who tells you to stay behind the computer for now. If you had facts, and something to go on besides anger for your person not winning the election then it wouldnt be hard. So go ahead and keep on posting, I love it youll go down in flames. By the way what kind of person post an address of the sheriffs son on here. You are some heartless people. Im sure glad you are not in law enforcement, and if you are its a matter of time before you slip up.

Defamation—also called calumny, vilification, slander (for transitory statements), and libel (for written, broadcast, or otherwise published words)—is the communication of a statement that makes a claim, expressly stated or implied to be factual, that may give an individual, business, product, group, government, or nation a negative image. It is usually, but not always,[1] a requirement that this claim be false and that the publication is communicated to someone other than the person defamed (the claimant).

Read that clearly because when whats coming gets finalized then youll need this information.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, I realize I spelled perjury wrong. Typing fast, but you get the point.

Do you ever wonder how information gets out? The inner circle is the one's in the know and they all trust someone who trusts someone else. Then there are all the witnesses to actions and incidents and many times the victims of those incidents. Since the Redmond team doesn't seem to have much interest in doing the right thing there has been a trail of unhappy people left in their wake.

I have to say that the inner circle has been the best source of information though. Not much honor among that bunch. If they weren't self serving they wouldn't take part of stepping on people to get what they want, including each other.

Anonymous said...

2. Defamation Per se
Some statements are so defamatory that they are considered defamation per se; and the plaintiff does not have to prove that the statements harmed his reputation. The classic examples of defamation per se are allegations of serious sexual misconduct; allegations of serious criminal misbehavior; or allegations that a person is afflicted with a loathsome disease. The historical examples of loathsome diseases are leprosy and venereal diseases.
When a plaintiff is able to prove defamation per se, damages are presumed, but the presumption is rebuttable.

Anonymous said...

Defamatory statements must be communicated to a third party. You cannot defame someone by speaking to them alone, or by muttering to yourself. This element of defamation is virtually always satisfied when claims are made against newspapers and broadcast media.

Anonymous said...

Do what you have to do. Pull out all the legal stuff you have to in order to muddy the waters. Just make sure that you pick the right person and the right statement because subpoenas will go out left and right.

One thing has changed in the last couple of months. Bullying just pisses people off now.

I have been off of this blog for several months. I am glad to see that some people are finally starting to take a second look at the SBI's role in the collective suffering of our communities. My personal concern has been the deep rooted corruption that plagued Mooresville for many decades. Among some of my earliest memories is overhearing people talk about how the thirty year former mayor Joe Knox decided who would serve on the town board. There would be elections, but only for show. The joke was Knox and a few other people had the keys to the ballot boxes. The Pandora's Box finally opened in Mooresville and one by one the rascals were rooted out, publicly exposed and replaced. But this was in spite of the SBI. At every turn I witnessed how that agency threw its weight into delaying and sometimes outright thwarting justice, always protecting those who were abusing their powers. We finally have a pretty good bunch of folks running the town. But that is no thanks to the SBI. I hope people continue to dig in to that agency and get to the bottom of who is responsible for such flagrant incompetence.

Anonymous said...

Someone should look at why a certain baseball coach and HS coach in town is coaching for a different team this year. I understand that that situation is far worse than Crone ever was in the misuse of nonprofit donations and missing funds. Pity Crone does not have an uncle Whitey....

Anonymous said...

It ain't incompetence at the SBI. It's crookedness! It's nothing but another good ole boy (or good ole girl) system that needs to be dismantled and either junked or built back up from scratch!

Anonymous said...

I believe his son has graduated and no longer lives there. The point was the question of the money involved and the public perception of where that money came from. The only mention of Redmonds wife that it was in her name. Nothing ill intended there. Also, The following statement was behiond that information:

"Here again with his salary and at his age and the income from the store and oil business, it is still possible."

So the public has questions and somebody looked into it and fairly and objectively found out what was asked. Quit trying to play the victim. That is Redmond philosophy through and through. Start a fight and then cry when the teacher comes over.

Anonymous said...

If public corruption is the pot of boiling water, somewhere along the line the S.B.I. became the lid. But we all know what happens when you try to keep a lid on a pot of boiling water for too long.

I agree with somebody who wrote earlier that if we all had confidence that the S.B.I. would do its job, we could all rest easy that if there is any hanky panky going on, they'd look into it. Right now everybody just takes it for granted that the S.B.I. has become the clean up and cover up crew for the crooks. So now we all have to take matters into our own hands and do the S.B.I.'s job for them while they're picking up a paycheck for doing nothing - or worse.

I say we go over the head of the S.B.I. and sit down with the F.B.I. to see what the deal is.

Why isn't the SBI or FBI or somebody investigating the shady cable purchase deal in Mooresville?

Crone dips into Cops 4 Kids and is now indicted for embezzlement and what not. But we keep sinking millions of dollars into a bottomless pit for cable and Frank Rader and Bill Thunberg don't have to answer for any of that? Don't get me wrong. Crone's getting what he deserved, but why isn't anybody having to answer for the cable scam?

The county's in the same kind of mess that Mooresville was in about ten years ago, with problem children running amok dressed up like public officials. Mooresville cleaned up its act. Now you can almost eat off the floor there! We can do it too by gosh.

First thing they did was get rid of their Sacred Cows. They didn't care that even the S.B.I. was on the side of the crooks. They kept going. They raised holy hell and cried foul every chance they got.

Second thing they did was make it clear who is in charge - the voters! And third thing I saw was they didn't take any nonsense off of whoever they elected. As soon as the elected people started getting uppity, they got thrown out!

Let's stretch that out a bit and say that there are 10 or even 20 comments on here that Redmond is gearing up to sue for as he is claiming that they aren't true. That would mean that the remaining 300 comments are true by his own confirmation.

You hit the nail on the head. Just go and look a little into the so called landfill land purchase a couple of years ago by the county. It will make your hair stand on end when you see how that multi million dollar deal went down. It's in this blog too. County paid over 4 million for a piece of land worth around 1.5 million and owned by - you guessed it - one of the buddies of one of the commissioners at the time. R&L didn't miss a beat and didn't ask a single question about that outrageous swindle job. Not a single county commissioner blinked over it either. When they paid three times what that land was worth (using our tax dollars), they already knew that by the time they need that land for a landfill the technology will have made landfills obsolete for trash disposal. That's why they're still using that land as a golf course. And you get three guesses who I heard was running that golf course. Yep. Same guy who sold the land to the county for three times what it was worth. Go figure. Wish somebody would give me deals like this. I guess I just don't have the right kinda friends.

6:01 I know exactly who we have pissed off, people with a lot of money who would like things to stay as they are. There is all this talk about people making anonymous posts and how if the information was true they would put their name to it and come out from behimd the computer.

Let's flip that around. If all the talk was about me and it wasn't true you can bet your ass that I wouldn't be posting here anonymously or keeping out of the public spotlight. I would call every damned media outlet within a 50 mile radius. The problem wouldn't be getting me to show myself it would be getting me to shut up and go away. I would want somebody's ass and wouldn't ask an attorney to do it for me or get a bunch of people to post anonymously on my behalf.

Truth makes you bold as does righteous indignation. Apparently there is no righteous indignation in the Redmond team, just anger at their honor being questioned.

You get dumber with every statement you make. Your saying you want the sheriff, who is suppose to be a role model. To come out and kick everyones ass, and make a fool of himself. Im sure he wants to, but trust me he doesnt take the time to read yalls garbage.

Anonymous said...

Mooresville cleaned up its act. Now you can almost eat off the floor there! We can do it too by gosh.---------------I DONT CALL MITCH AND MITCHVISON A CLEAN ACT.

Anonymous said...

If he doesn't read it or he doesn't have ya'll to tell him about it then why are his posters threatening a lawsuit? A sheriff is supposed to be a real stand up guy.

I love that "Walking Tall" stick in his office and the story he tells everybody that comes in about how some guy made that for him because he reminded him of the guy in the movie who cleaned up the town by going after everyone single handedly. If I remember right that story was about a man fighting corruption in government.

So yeah, by the Sheriff's own testimony he needs to get his big stick that the guy made him and straighten everything out.

I wish I had a dime for every time I zoned through that story. Redmond is a legend in his own mind.

Anonymous said...

Yep thats right keep on talking, you just keep on telling us that you use to be a sheriff employee. I now see were all the jealousy and anger comes from. You are just not known well enough to run, so you had to be a campaign manager.

Anonymous said...

You wanted to be the one with that walking tall stick. I think Iredell county is one of best counties around to live in. You must not have any roots around here big boy.

Anonymous said...

You better believe as long as Mitch Abraham is on the town board and Erskine Smith's mooching off us you CANNOT eat off of the floor in Mooresville. We still got more cleaning up to do here. We're patiently waiting on the new elected officials to get rid of Smith. And the voters will take care of Abraham at next election.

Anonymous said...

6:43 you act like he has quit telling that story. Keep on guessing. And I don't need a story and a stick to feel good about myself. I put more importance in what I do, not what people think that I do.

About the root thing, I have plenty of family history here.

Anonymous said...

Something else you fools haven't figured out. This was never about getting someone in office as much as it was getting Redmond out. If he conducted himself in a different fashion nobody would care if he stayed in there for 50 years. Someone who got in there in did the job right would be missed and people wopuld hate to see him go. Not the case here.

DITCH MITCH bumper stickers are available online... different Mitch but ditching our Mitch would help this town tremendously. How does he keep getting elected anyhow???

Anonymous said...

Sure enough, there are DITCH MITCH stickers for sale. Who would have thunk it? BTW he doesn't "keep getting elected". First time no one was the wiser and he slipped through wolf in sheep's clothing. Second time he got a handful more votes than a complete no namer who put their name in the hat last minute. Bottom line is he lives at the end of town that's still living in the past. The few who come out to vote from that district are all up each other's butts and don't know they're the laughing stock of the rest of the town. But now he's only one and he's lost his usual suspect backups like Thunburg and Rader. The RATS have been reduced to ASS (Abraham/Smith/Soontogo).

When's the next election when we can try and oust out Mitch Abraham's sorry ass? He got a little cowed after the FBI came in to look into his part with that wastewater treatment plant no bid deal. But shysters like him tend to rear their heads up again once they think everyone's forgotten.

Anonymous said...

The more I think about the whole threat of a lawsuit the better I like it.

We have the whole discovery thing.

It is just more public display of Redmond's bullying tactics. (Even if he has a third party to do it for him.) This will follow the dropping of nine certifications for political reasons only.

Once accusations of false statements are made, then subpoenas can go out to the people who have the knowledge of the information and they will be forced to tell the truth or lie on the stand.

After some comments are alledged to be false, the rest will be fact by default.

Someone said earlier that if something wasn't true then it should have been addressed by that individual. I agree that if someone got on here and told "lies" about me I wouldn't be hard to find.

Oh yeah, let's not forget that there were some real lies told about some on this side as well. Yeah, open that can of worms. It's time for this thing to come to a head.

Anonymous said...

well bring yourself out from behind that computer, and that self centered life you live. You speak like your great, and someone owes you something. I agree you deserve something, but its not what you want. Please just do us all a favor keep on running the smear tactics, because people didnt like it in the primary, and they want like it in November. Believe me we no you got every vote you could get. But you lost a lot to by opening your mouth. I just want to be the first to say thanks, the time will come will youll have to face your comments/lies.

We all get it. The following post kicked off something that the people who started it couldn't handle after they got it in motion;

"Posted by (Bulldozer) on 02/11/2010 at 10:35 am.

Muddy—I am sure Mark is a young sweet guy, but I have friends in the law enforcement community that tell me that he left years ago came back was hired again by the Sheriff because of tough times. I have been told that he has never been involved in Narcotics investigations, and has never even been a supervisor. I have been told the Sheriff’s Office hear is one of the most aggressive on drug dealers and thugs in the state. I would hate to give this up to someone who just decided he thought it would be fun to be Sheriff. I think it says a lot about the Sheriff Redmond, Nicholson takes a paycheck home and would then cut him in the back to run against him….it says a lot about the Sheriff that he has let him stay in a position within the Sheriff’s Office and a lot about the person Nicholson is…..Being Sheriff is more than just wanting the title of a new retirement, or a dream……I have to ask please look at all the facts I am sure that some of these guys will throw all sorts of falsehoods and exaggerations and hope the public believes them because this is the only hope they may have….just an opinion"

There are at least two lies in that post followed by a character assasination. It was said before that the Redmond regime operates like a schoolyard bully by starting a fight and then crying "he hit me" when the teacer comes over.

That first post was followed by ALL kinds of misinformation, lies and deceitful remarks posted for the sole purpose of ruining the reputaion of another candidate and their friends/supporters.

I really liked the one where one of Mark's friends/supporters was point blank labeled a drug dealer and Mark was accused of smoking pot with him "like the old days".

These posts are full to the brim of character assisinations put up by Redmond supporters. We considered it part of the fight to take our licks even though they were untrue.

Now you want to whine and threaten a lawsuit over a couple of statements that most likely can be backed up with a subpoena granted the person subpoened will tell the truth on the stand.

This election was supposed to be about right and wrong. Instead it turned into a pissing contest as the Redmond team started and continued attacks on the main opponet. I do understand that first post and the disclaimer that, " I am sure that some of these guys will throw all sorts of falsehoods and exaggerations and hope the public believes them…".

That comes back to knowing what all has been done over the years and being worried that it will come out.

So get your paperwork together, take it before a judge to find out ISP addresses and subpoena whatever records you need to and drag whoever you want to out into another fight. Ya'll started this and apparently have serious and valid concerns that there is no walking away. You wopuld be right.

So get in whatever shots that you have to. In the long run they will be meaningless and justice will prevail. There has been too much done to allow it to continue another four years and the people of Iredell County are ready to put a stop to it no matter how rough the ride. So stop with the threats and bullying remarks and just get your court order and your names. Let the games begin.

Anonymous said...

These threats of lawsuits and identification of individuals who made comments isn't an attempt to clear anyone's name. The only purpose is to intimidate people into being quiet. That is why the people on the other side of the fence hadn't even considered suing to find out who trashed them, it was irrelevant. What was being said about any anti-redmond people wasn't true and was certainly nothing that had the potential to cause them legal problems as a result.

Of course any action taken by the Redmonites will have to be followed by a reaction as it has during the course of the entire election process. Just another example of the Redmonites starting something else. EVERYTHING that has been on these pages has been started as a result of the actions or posts of the home team.

I am sure that the intimidation will continue as long as there is hope that questions and investigations will go away. But the intimidation won't bring any more silence than it already has, instead it is fueling the fight to bring accountablility back to the Sheriffs Office.

Word has it that Mitch is also President of the MHS Athletic Boosters and is involved in actively covering for his buddy and MHS Baseball Coach (May 28, 2010 5:47 PM post here.)

Whats Mitch's role? Seems wherever you find something dirty or crooked, or underhanded in this town Mitch is either there or has his hands in it.

If its true a Coach at the MHS can not account for funds and donations and Mitch is covering up for him what gives?????? What is Mitch's role.

Last I hear Mitch has been unemployed for a couple of years. How is he living without a paycheck.

Anonymous said...

It's always a scary thing when I hear an elected official has been "unemployed for a couple of years." I read years ago that when there is "need and opportunity", the chances of public official misconduct multiplies. We need to keep a very close eye on any elected official who may be falling on tough times, because of the temptation to abuse power. All eyes officially on Commissioner Abraham. Thanks for the heads up, above post.

Mitch is also pretty chummy with that deadbeat Erskine. Mitch is helping Erskine's sorry ass keep his overpaid job and we'll have to guess what Erskine's doing to repay the favor. You know what they say about "when you lay with dogs you catch fleas".

You want a can of worms, just start looking into all the little political favors Erskine Smith does for his friends so that when he needs them they'll come to his aid. It's disgusting and it's right out there. Erskine's job description: play golf, dole out favors to buddies, play more golf, get caught, go hide under a rock, come back out when it's safe, play golf, dole out favors to buddies...round and round it goes. Where it'll stop nobody knows.

We need to expose the SBI for the do-nothing, catch-noone-until-your-forced-to farce of an agency that its become. How much of our tax dollars go into all those salaries I wonder. All for what? So once in a while they come out of the woodwork and indict a corrupt police chief. Never mind it took 'em two years to do it. And once in a while they bust up a drug deal or two. In the meanwhile were being robbed blind by selfproclaimed pillars of our communities. I'm reading about land fills being bought at 3 times their value. I'm reading about needing 6 more million for a losing cable system. I'm reading about 10 more million for fixing up a golf course run by a shady loser the SBI was supposed to be investigating and never did. When is it gonna stop? You can't squeeze blood out of a turnip. People are hurting out here while a few are living high on the hog with job security and full benefits, all off our backs. And where's the damned SBI while all this is going on right in our faces? Oh I know. Their out there cashing their own paychecks laughing at all of us stupid sheep who pay for those paychecks.

We all know that you will always hide behind that computer and tell lies. But lets get one thing straight, this is no bully tactic. You just hit the wrong button. Its one thing to tell the truth and have fact, but to talk about Redmond and his family/friends the way you do. Thats were this thing went wrong. I would personally like to challenge you, or anyone else to discuss this in a public place. I know thats not going to happen, but that is what i want. I know you dont have the balls to say this face to face. Funny thing is you probably dont even know me, and im probably half your age. With that said if you are a real man, and you have roots here you should want to discuss this face to face. A liar hides, a true man comes out.

There you go about Erskine Smith again. He's a good dude and well respected by a lot of administrators throughout North Carolina. Looks to me like the town has progressed a long way during his tenure in Mooresville. WE LOVE ERSKINE SMITH!!

6:01 Nobody knows if they know you or not because you are ANONYMOUS.

I assume the past post concerning Mitch Abraham and the Mooresville High School Baseball coach doing the same as Crone is about Johnny Meadows. Johnny went out and raised money for the American Legion and spent it like he wanted to. It does not matter if Johnny spent it on a Myrtle Beach trip or gave it to Coach Burchette for a travel team or whatever else he did with the money. If Johnny and Jimmy Meadows raised the money they should be able to spend it like they want. The Post firing Johnny was nothing more than a simple feud and a shame. If Mitch supports Johnny Meadows so be it.. I dont think Mitch would support a thief or an embezzler so you guys should give Mitch a break.

6:01 said, "Its one thing to tell the truth and have fact, but to talk about Redmond and his family/friends the way you do. Thats were this thing went wrong."

That is the pot calling the kettle black. Go wait for your attorney to get his paperwork lined up and then go to the judge and get his permission on getting ISP addresses. When that is done and paperwork is handed out THEN and only then will the rest of us take the time to respond in kind. There is a whole slew of posts dedicated to ruining the reputation of Nicholson, his friends and family. It will take time but we will go back and locate them and hit print. Do what you have to do. Until then work on living up to your own words...

A liar hides, a true man comes out.

Oh wait, you are part of the team of elites that lives according to a different set of rules than the rest of us peons. I forgot, please forgive me.

Erskine among other people in this town act as Mitch's puppeteer. (Mitch remains too dumb to do anything on his own without someone telling him what to do.)

And raising money for a charity and spending it like its your own is still wrong and Crone got his just dues even if Mitch thinks otherwise

Pity someone cant get something on Erskine and Mitch to put them away and help improve this town even more.

Anonymous said...

How much money was raised by Meadows and spent elsewhere. What was he raising the money for? Did Mitch go the Myrtle Beach too and did charitable donations pay for it? Whats the deal there? Whats the Mitch connection?

And still another thought about the Redmonites;

The Redmonites have gotten on here and smeared Nicholson, his wife, his mom & dad, his friends and more. Not once did anyone give a crap about who was saying these things. You know why? They weren't true. It was a bunch of lies conjured up to make anyone associated with Nicholson look bad. They even attacked what Mark's wife was wearing at the polls on election day, making her sound like a cheap version of Daisy Duke.

Nobody from the Nicholson camp mentioned who actually did show up in a mini skirt at the Board of Elections to pass out cards for Redmond. The Nicholson camp has always had respectful limits with information, even when it was the truth. Oh, and Redmond knows who it was, because he personally escorted her over there along with Eades who I assume was off the clock. Hayes was there for awhile as well.

So why would the Redmonites have such a huge interest in who the anonymous people talking are? One reason, to shut them up because the truth will be the start of a lot of problems.

They have been left unchecked to say as they please about the Nicholson camp because it wasn't true and therefore was irrelevant. The only thing that did happen was when an untruth was told, there was more truthful information thrown out about the Redmond regime.

So yeah, have your attorney start this thing. Can't wait to get on the stand and tell more.

Oh and another thing. People are still hesitant to talk, although that is going away rapidly. The great thing about being subpoened out into the open is that you are protected at that point. All the common concverns that people have about being harrassed, having drugs planted in their vehicle or home, dissapearing, they all go away at that point. Once you have publically spoken out against the Redmond regime and something happens, it will be as suspect as when Duck's house got searched after he rode in the parade except more in a more public way.

Send out subpoenas and call the press. Hell, let's bring national attention to this thing. That is we have wanted to do all along. SHERIFF SUES ANONYMOUS BLOGGERS. great headline. That should get all kinds of people in here who want to interview anyone who will talk.

I like it. I like it a lot.

Let me start by saying congrats to the female blogger (thanks for the answer whoever wrote on May 30, 2010 8:13 AM) who started this rather intriguing blog. At the risk of sounding sexist, it must have taken some serious balls to do this in a southern town. Respect.

Interesting little testosterone induced pissing contest going on in this thread. I don't know any of the parties involved. But willing to stick my neck into this little repartee.

I know laws vary state to state, and I am not privy to the N.C. laws. However, where I live (back & forth between midwest and west coast) the laws clearly distinguish between "public figures" and "private citizens".

There are degrees of "public" when it comes to "public figures." For example, anyone who is elected is 100% a "public figure", but even non-elected citizens can be considered "public figures" if they put themselves out on a public stage. Our laws are very lenient when it comes to talking trash about "public figures", elected or non-elected. But the "private citizen" is totally off limits. Hope this is making sense.

Does anyone on this thread know whether this is also the case in N.C.?

Regardless, keep on rocking in the free world people. I've sent the link to this blog to some of my peeps whom I affectionately label as conveniently apathetic and a bit too left of center. Maybe it'll light a fire under them so they'll get up and join me in throwing rocks at the federal government. Hope is eternal.

One hour after that Witherspoon bitch shot her cop husband in the head in cold blood while he slept and their 3 small kids played in another room, Crone went on camera and told everybody it was an accident. That very afternoon the couch he was shot in was put in a landfill. That was the beginning of the end of John Crone.
