Iredell County sheriff's deputy indicted

A grand jury has indicted yet another Iredell County law enforcement officer for obstructing justice.

Thomas Lane “Tommy” Adams, a sergeant with the Iredell County Sheriff's Office, was indicted earlier this week. The State Bureau of Investigation apparently served Adams, who was then processed and released from the Iredell County Jail on an unsecured bond.

Just seven months ago, a state grand jury indicted former Mooresville Police Chief John Crone for obstruction of justice and embezzlement. Crone's case has been continued twice; his next court date is Feb. 14, 2011.

As of late this week, Iredell County's clerk of superior court still had no record of a warrant being served on Adams.

It is unclear if Adams is still employed by the sheriff's office. Sandra Gregory, director of human resources for Iredell County, said yesterday that she could provide Adams' public employment information – including his most recent salary and change in status – within “a day or two.” However, she did not respond to an immediate follow-up email, asking if the sheriff's office still employs Adams.

Sheriff Phil Redmond has continued to employ Adams for five years after the incident from which the charge against him was brought. In fact, in a Sept. 17 e-mail to the Report, Capt. Darren Campbell, on behalf of Redmond, said, “The Iredell County Sheriff's Office and SBI conducted a proper and thorough review of this matter, Sheriff Redmond is satisfied that North Carolina law has been followed in all respects, and professional law enforcement standards and practices continue to be applied and enforced for the benefit of Iredell County citizens.”

In an e-mail yesterday, Campbell refused to answer whether Adams is still employed by the sheriff's office, responding simply: "I am forwarding your e-mail to the Captain of Personnel and Training."

The obstruction of justice charge stems from an incident that took place in or around 2005, when Adams retrieved two guns, cases and ammunition from a convicted felon. Adams signed an evidence sheet, indicating that he had submitted the property to the evidence room. But about a year later – after the defendant in the case had pleaded guilty to the charges against him – it was discovered that the guns were either missing or had never been turned it.

Upon being questioned by Campbell, Adams originally denied knowing the whereabouts of either gun. But after further questioning, he retrieved one gun from his personal residence and one from his personal vehicle and turned them over to the captain.

Sheriff's office personnel say Adams was never punished for the incident.

Interestingly, this isn't the first time Adams has had a brush with the law. At the time he was hired at the sheriff's office, Adams' former employer – a major retail store in Winston Salem – had charged him with felony embezzlement. Adams pleaded the charge down to a misdemeanor, which remained on his record when Redmond hired him to work at the Iredell County Sheriff's Office in the early 2000s.

The county paid Adams, an unsworn sheriff's office employee, to attend Basic Law Enforcement Training, covering his tuition and fees, even while most other rookies have paid their own way through BLET, taking classes while working at the sheriff's office at opposite times of the day.

Immediately out of rookie school, Redmond promoted Adams to detective sergeant, a practice that is virtually unheard of in the law-enforcement community, according to a dozen North Carolina police chiefs contacted by the Report this summer.

So Redmond kept Deputy Adams on for five years after the incident. A great example of how he covers for some while he hangs others out to dry. What does Adams have on Redmond? Now somebody needs to find out how long Redmond knew about Mark McCollum's counterfeit degree before somebody notified the Feds and they showed up demanding a meeting with Redmond. Just another example of Redmonds professional law enforcement standards and practices that continue to be applied and enforced for the benefit of Iredell County citizens. More like to the benefit of Redmond and his select few.

Darren Campbell when you speak on behalf of Redmond you are speaking for yourself as well. You cannot tell a lie for someone else and not be morally responsible for that lie. It is a damned shame to see a man get paid a reported $63,264 a year to help cover tracks for those who should not even be in law enforcement. If you had even one nad you would have refused to make that statement. Campbell were you then and are you now satisfied that North Carolina law has been followed in all respects, and that professional law enforcement standards and practices continue to be applied and enforced for the benefit of Iredell County citizens? Man up and tell the Sheriff what you really think of him or should some of us let him know on our own? Your job is law enforcement. Look up the definition.

I think I figured out Redmond's philosophy. If he puts the criminals to work, it will help make Iredell County a better place to "work, live, and raise a family."

Thanks, Phil

Campbell I have given this further thought. Maybe you do respect and think highly of the Sheriff and you have just been lying to all of us. Either way I don't know how you sleep at night.

It is a shame Jamie Gatton is the only true news source in Iredell County. I know for a fact Donna Swicegood is aware Deputy Adams has been indicted. I guess the only reason she has not released the story is because Redmond did not have a press release that said "Sheriff Phil Redmond said". She is a disgrace to journalism. She should go back to the Redmond and Landmark and consider what a failure she has been to the citizens of Iredell County over the years.

I don't understand how a police officer stealing a weight bench,a misdemeanor, is some how a bigger story than a deputy that stole evidence and obstucted justice, a felony. Why don't you help me understand Donna?

5:24 said "I don't understand how a police officer stealing a weight bench,a misdemeanor, is some how a bigger story than a deputy that stole evidence and obstucted justice, a felony. Why don't you help me understand Donna?"

VERY good point about the assistance that the Record & landmark has given to Redmond in covering up the true nature of the current administration. Donna Swicegood has been instrumental in perpetuating the false reputation that Redmond has enjoyed. Now thanks to Jamie, will the REAL Phillip Redmond please step forward (or run and hide like you normally do when the shit hits the fan.) You can send Campbell out with a tincup with your statement. Maybe Dowdle can grind the organ for him.

4:46... I don't know the answer to your question about how long Redmond knew about Mark's fake degree, but I DO KNOW that Redmond knew exactly why Mark was fired from the Highway Patrol and why he had to stay out of Law Enforcement for several years before he could get his certification back. Redmond knew the whole story and then denied it when asked (on TV) when the story came out. If you hire criminals ...what can you expect? I know there are some good deputies working there, they just can't seem to ever get promoted. Go figure.

Anonymous said...

Where are the Redmondites? I don't hear much from that camp.

I think Dowdle may have left his organ over on Charis Road.

Tommy, you did the crime but the comment section seems to be about everyone but you. Lots of anomosity for the crowd you hang with. Not looking good.

Seems like Redmond also said Tommy Adams was cleared of any wrong doing by Sheriff's standards. Tells me alot about the Sheriff's of N.C. "Good ole Boys"

Anonymous said...

6:49 First let me say most of the employees at the Sheriff's Office are good hard working people who only want to serve the people of Iredell County.

However, they are having to work under a man that has created an environment of corruption. Hiding behind religion and false conservatism he mocks the people of Iredell County as he does his misdeeds.

He hires people like Tommy Adams, Mark McCullom, Rick Dowdle, and Ben Jenkins, then allows them to do as they please. He makes no effort to correct their actions until the public finds out what they have done. That is why Tommy Adams did not leave his position until this week.

You see, Tommy Adams is only a small part of a bigger picture. Until the true problem is corrected the situation will never change.

Thank you Miss Gatton. Without you, the citizens would never know.

8:47 very well said. The second paragraph is especially a wonderfull analogy.

It is a blessing that this blog exists and that Mrs. Gatton is willing to publish information as it becomes confirmed. The Record and Landmark is useless for any purpose other than publishing obituaries and the distribution of grocery store ads. After church this morning the talk turned to the recent indictment. Many already knew of the incident involving the guns and wonder why it took so long for something to be done. Everyone is relieved to see charges brought but are still very frustrated that the man who is at the head of this is allowed to remain in office. In addition to the current talk among adults I hear regular reports from my niece who has a child at North Iredell High. The opinions of the students are of drug dealings and also the Sheriffs extra curricular activites at the Burger Barn where many of the teeengagers hang out. There is also continual talk of Rick Dowdle and accusations of him behaving in the same manner. It is sad when our children are aware of the corruption and know that is allowed to openly continue. Our leaders set an example for our childen and at the moment it seems that they are seeing an example as moral as the one set by Bill Clinton except Bill wasn't accused of dealing drugs. We can only hope that it will end by some means and that the current Sheriff will be replaced by an honest person worthy of the position and I don't think that four years is an acceptable time to wait either. Jamie Gatton keep up the good work and maybe we can finally rid the county of Sheriff Redmond and his unethical and immoral ways.

Anonymous said...

This is so well spoken...THE TRUTH...Redmond has been allowed to hide so long under his POWER...our own children know of the corruption and yet the ADULTS of this County turn a blind eye or just don't care. This corruption IS affecting your children MORE than you could ever know. The truth is beginning to come out...it's time for Iredell County to be CLEANED up of the corruption from within before we can be a force to help the community and residents live in a safe, MORAL, environment. Tis the season for MORE INDICTMENTS....

I found your comment about the sheriff being replaced by an honest person interesting. Let’s stop and consider the possible republican candidates from the folks that have aspirations of running for the position of sheriff in four years.

Neil Hayes - Haven't heard anything out of him about this matter? He seems to always be supportive of Redmond. How about it, Neil? Stand up and show the citizens of Iredell County what kind of sheriff you would be by denouncing Redmond's actions in this matter. All you have to do is type and post.

Darren Campbell - Again, another Redmond supporter. He may have investigated this situation, but he is still a strong supporter of Redmond. Believe me he does not want to be in the situation he is in now. He has ridden the fence for years and never made a strong stand for anything. I make the same challenge to you, Darren Campbell. Show the citizens of Iredell County what you are made of, and stand up like a man. That is what a true candidate would do at a time like this. I don't look for it to happen. You are too much of a coward to give Ms. Gatton a straight answer. Cowardice, not a good quality for a sheriff.

Ricky Eades - Oh please? God help us.

Rick Dowdle - I will not comment on anyone that struggles speaking the English language. He is way too stupid to be Sheriff.

Mark Nicholson - Stood up and spoke out about the corruption at the Sheriff's Office (See earlier posts). He was willing to give up his job to do it. Not to mention he did it when it was not convenient. He spoke out against this situation, spoke out about how the Sheriff interrupted the detective's interview with murderer, Barbra Evans, so he could get his picture made with her, and brought light to the Sheriff using working inmates to spread gravel at his house. This cost the taxpayers of Iredell County. Sounds like a good candidate to me.

I wonder what Redmond said quote will go with this incident. It won't be direct from the horses mouth though. When the news trucks extend their satelite booms in front of the office you can bet your ass that Redmond won't be found. He will probably will have another typical family emergency. Can't blame him on this one. What can you say about something that you tried to sweep under the rug five years ago?

Now where is the deputy who got falsely accused of domestic violence but who was since cleared by the courts of any wrongdoing? He got fired and spent the weekend in jail. Maybe he should have given his girlfriend as an offering to his Majesty King Redmond. But he didn't so off with his head!

Dennis this would be a good time to line up an interview with Jamie. You might want to mention the visit from Campbell with his campaign sign while you are at it.

3:28 after wiping the tears from my eyes and returning from a hysterical state I had some comments about your post.

Neil Hayes. He has probably accumulated more enemies in the last several years than anyone in the Sheriffs Office. He devoted much time in the past degrading Redmonds reputation while he campaigned from his DARE position. He made it clear to pretty much everyone who would listen that Redmond was corrupt and he was going to run for Sheriff and even had a list of people he was going to fire when he did win. Look up snake in the grass in Websters and you may find a photo of him there. Now he is right there on the Eades Hayes Redmond support team. I wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire and running toward a wrecked gas tanker next to an alzheimers unit.

Darren Campbell. Not as many enemies, but no respect either. As valuable in leadership as sheep in a pasture full of wolves. Will stay hidden and kisses ass whenever called out by whoever calls him out. Told several that he was supporting Mark and also went and talked to Stamey during the main election. He needs to be serving civil papers so as not to be making any decisions about right or wrong.

Ricky Eades. Happy go lucky, go with the flow and whatever is beneficial at the moment. Not law enforcement material at all. Would be better suited for working at a put put course wearing a pirate suit and eye patch.

Rick Dowdle. Ego trip on the Sheriffs coat tails. Runs like a little dog when the sheriff calls him and barks at whoever the sheriff tells him to. Even though he has a chihuahua personality still sees a rotweiler when he looks in the mirror and believes that everyone else sees a rotweiler as well. A legend in his own mind. Wants to be liked by the sheriff so he tries to act like the sheriff.

Nicholson. Good guy and tried to do the right thing.

I am a proud republican. I was considering getting involved with the local party. However, after learning about Mr. Redmond. I have a serious problem with the local republicans. I think I will sit it out for now and see if they can rediscover the meaning of integrity. I would highly recommend that other true conservatives do the same.

Nobody is incarcerated. He is no longer employed by the Sheriffs office but I would consider it a good possibility that he still works for Redmond. It would be in Redmonds best interest to keep Tommy happy.

The others would likely be stoned if we were in biblical days.

If any of you where Sheriff would you allow an employee to keep his job if he stole evidence?

This is not a trick question. As a future voter I want to know. How about it?

I hope these future wanna be candidates are smart enough to answer such a simple question.

I assure you your responses, or lack there of will be brought up again at a later time. Likely at the next Republican Primary.

Is there anyone else out there that would like a response from their future candidates?

I guess Redmond and his crooked under bosses thought noone would lift up the rug once they put away the broom. Hopefully this won't be the only indictment from this incident. Maybe Adams is "cooperating".

Anonymous said...

Adams I hope you are cooperating. It would be a way to win back the respect of the community.

I was pleased to see another news outlet pick up the story since our local news has failed us. Perhaps a national news source will pick it up.

5:11 You cannot win back something you never had. Besides, you don't get credit for doing the right thing after you have to do the right thing. That also goes for Campbell, Dowdle, Eades, Hayes and a few more. Too little too late at this point. I hope that there are more indictments and I do hope that people cooperate so that the citizens of Iredell County can finally see who Redmond really is. But there will be no earned back respect. Too late for that.

The local news agencies will pick this up after it is handed to them. They no longer work to get information for stories and it isn't good enough for national news yet. Most news isn't really news anymore it is old news sensationalized by hype and corruption sure as hell isn't news it is part of doing business by way of politics.

Fine. You all want a comment from one of us? Fine. Here it is: If it weren't for guys like Sheriff Redmond, a man I am proud to say I admire and work for, this County would be in shambles. Drug dealers would be in control; violent crime would be at incredibly high rates; and our deputies would be operating with 19th century equipment. But that's not the case now, is it?

A thorough investigation was completed, and an indictment was brought. What more do you want? A good investigation takes time. Should we fire everyone whose the subject of a rumor without investigating it thoroughly? Every agency has their share of officers who seemingly have slipped through the cracks, or go rogue at some point. Human nature, like it or not. But in the end, justice has taken its course.

As for leadership, each of the men you bloggers have called out are outstanding leaders and deserve to be in the position they are in. We only hope to achieve the fraction of success that Sheriff Redmond has when our time comes to lead our own departments, if that's our destiny. But until then, we will stand by the man who has done so much for us, as we should. Hey "officer bloggers", is your agency head supporting you the way Sheriff Redmond has supported us?

And finally, I'd like to remind all the moral voices out there casting judgment that the people DID speak last month, and in large numbers. This is why our Sheriff was elected... again. The public, with the exception of all you narrow-minded individuals, has given approval to Sheriff Redmond and his command staff for the job we have done, and want us to continue our good works. Imagine that!

Now you may not like any one of us inidividually, and that's your right. Frankly, we don't care. But we will still be there for you when your house gets broken into, or you get assaulted, or a drug dealer has moved in next door. We will not judge you the way you have judged us, and we will continue to do the job that the voting public has entrusted us to do. You don't have to thank us... I know how hard that would be for you, Halyburton.

Sincerely... one of us!

8:36 now that I have the BS wiped off my screen let me repond.

Paragraph 1. Most of Redmonds officers have done a great job in spite of his oppresive leadership and bullying tactics. If you want to see crime being fought than wait until he is out of office and replaced with a Sheriff who doesn't use fear and intimidation to motivate people to do his bidding so he can get his silly ass grin in the paper pointing at something. Lets not forget that one of the most violent crimes Iredell County has seen resulted in the arrest of a suspect. While that suspect was being interviewed for the murder of two couples, Redmond had (I believe Dowdle) to interupt the interview so he can have his photo taken leading her across the parking lot. This was right before an election. Then she returned to the interview where she clammed up. That is the kind of law enforcement leader that Redmond is. I will stop there with the paragraph 1 response.

Anonymous said...

Paragraph 2. Tommy didn't "slip through the cracks". He was hired by the Sheriff and put in a position made just for him, sent through BLET and then placed into a detective slot with no experience. The qualifications call for 3-5 years road patrol background. When Tommy did take the guns Redmond tried to cover it up by moving him all around. I believe he was transferred to the jail and was still permirtted to have his car? Who gets that other than him? He didn't fall through the cracks, Redmond PULLED him through the cracks. What more do we want? We wanted Tommy dealt with fairly when this happened. This only happened because there was an indictment. Redmond did everything in his power to keep it from happening. I guess we wanted Redmond to do the right thing? Yeah right. If it was not one of his pets he maybe would have been fired and spent the weekend in jail like another officer falsley accused. "In the end justice has taken it's course"? Have you lost your mind? Justice will be done when the man who tried to cover this and other things up is out of office. Don't forget that when this happended Campbell was in the hotseat for pushing the ivestigation. After Redmond was told that he needed to fire Tommy the top administration was shuffled around to cover ass. Do you think we forgot?

Anonymous said...

Paragraph 3 "As for leadership, each of the men you bloggers have called out are outstanding leaders and deserve to be in the position they are in."

Campbell, Hepler and Hayes all have blasted the Sheriff for his immoral and unethical behavior and will do so again if they get a subpoena to testify in court. Right now the paycheck is the motivation or in the case of some blackmail may be the underlying factor. Darren Campbell went from candidate to candidate trying to butter his bread on all sides. He got sent to a poll and didn't want to hand out cards for Redmond. He is ashamed to be seen as a part of the Redmond operation because he knows firsthand what it is. He despises Redmond for his behavior or at least that is what he says. hayes, went from wanting redmond sent off to being one of his boys. Was he promised backing for his run for Sheriff? Don't know, but several have had that promise including one in the jail. Redmond says whatever Redmond has to say to get what he wants. He uses people and people use him when they are too stupid to realize how dangerous that is. Stupid would sum up the minds of that leadership you speak of. And Dowdle? No road experience, no Detective experience, nothing but working in the jail. Plus he's a pompous ass so what redeeming qualities make him a good leader? He is a follower, a follower of Redmond who runs and does what he is told without thinking and that is where his "leadership" skills end.

Anonymous said...

Paragraph 4. Redmond won the election but not by a landslide. The general public is pissed and don't see how he continues to get voted back in. If he was the great leader and law officer that you claim him to be he would have won each year by a landslide instead of just a healthy lead. This last election he didn't even have a healthy lead. Someone posted earlier about the turnover in the house of representatives. People voted republican big time this past election and redmond still didn't walk away with a large support base, enough to win, but not a large support base. The Record and Landmark, Donna Swicegood and the old people vote got Redmond back in. Period. I wish we could get the general public interested in taking time to post here because Redmond would get his ass verbally handed to him. People are shaking their heads in disbelief. Here is another thought. If redmond is the great leader and law officer that you make him out to be why is one of his pets posting on here instead of him making a statement. He has NEVER made a statement and what few times he has been on camera he looks at the desk and the walls and everywhere but at the camera. He knows what he is and is afraid that others will read his eyes and see it too. He runs if confronted by anyone and hides while everyone issues Redmond said statements.

Anonymous said...

And paragraph 5. You won't be there if my house gets broken into, or if I get assaulted, or a drug dealer has moved in next door. One of the good officers that work under your sorry leadership will be there and do a great job, but you won't be there. You will be doing coverups and gameplaying to keep your position that as you know could be gone tomorrow if King Phillip decides that you pissed him off. Also according to the Sheriff you better have stuff tied down if you had one of Nicholsons signs in the front of your business. That business now has a competitive business right next door by the way and guess who was in there offering to help unload a lawnmower? Redmond. That business owner had redmond signs up during the primary and now it would appear the goal is to put the people next door (his sister) out of business by offering the same services. I wonder where he got the funds and backing for that? Also according to Sgt. Joel Hepler another man needed to be concerned with who would investigate a break in since he had a Nicholson sign out front. So you say you will be there for me? Bullshit. You will be there for Redmond my friend because you are out for yourself and your own best interests. If this whole thing goes bad you will still be out for yourself when you confess all the crap that you know has been going on. Too little, too late. You won't be there for me and we certainly won't be there for you.

Also, as far as the question " should we fire every one who is the subject of a rumor?" No!!!! However;it is not a rumor when he hands you the property and lies to you. Sounds like an open and shut case to me.

Called the Sheriff's office and called a friend that works within the SBI, and it turns out that Adams was cleared with all of their investigations. He didn't break any law, but DID break the department rules. He probably should have been fired for that, but I do believe in showing people forgivness for their poor decisions.

I would like to hear the DA explain why she is wasting the taxpayer money in order to bring this to the court room even though we already know that Adam's broke no law! She was a Mark Nicholson supporter, and maybe she has some political motivations involoved in her decision?

Jamie would you like to explain on that also?

To suggest that Tommy Adams did nothing wrong by taking two guns, which should have been turned into evidence, is nuts. To suggest that it had no bearing on the defendant's case because he pled guilty anyway, is beyond belief. If the defendant had known the evidence was never turned in, he certainly would have challenged the case and integrity of the officers involved. Every moral and ethical rule in law enforcement tells you not to take property for personal gain. If these allegations are true, Tommy Adams broke every common sense rule in law enforcement and should be held accountable. What he did was clearly obstruct justice.

Susie Stallings my ass. Change that last name to another Susie maybe. Are you the Susie that got pepper sprayed and then the charges dropped by the deputy that sprayed you? All because somebody told somebody to tell the officer to drop them? Another case of Obstruction of Justice. Jenkins are you game for that? I know that is confusing, there are several Jenkins including the one that was almost fired but begged a job in the jail instead. The Jenkins involved in the obstruction of justice knows who he is.

Time now to discuss the illegal campaign practices of Sheriff Redmond. At the time the Statesville Redmond & Landfill tore Redmond up over the matter and there was an investigation by the board of election if I recall where several people said it didn't look right but whatever. There were names listed as people who contributed but didn't. there was a jar put out to collect money in that nobody knew who put what in. There were funds accepted by businesses that had to be returned. Rick Eades would be the main one to ask about all of that. He is the man on campaign fund record keeping. Was there an investigation on this as well? Was the Sheriff and the SBI and the Sheriffs Standards all happy with it just like the Adams case? Eades, fill us in buddy. maybe your buddy Neil can help with that as well, wouldn't hurt to ask. Can't remember if you two were a pair back then like you are now. Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. All of this was publicized but it got swept under the rug just like the Adams incident. Time to take the rugs out for an old fashioned over the clothes line beating. That dirt has to go. Ya'll have swept so much dirt under the rug there is a hump in it and it's coming out the other side.

Susie Stalling said, "but I do believe in showing people forgivness for their poor decisions."

Tommy was already shown forgiveness twice. When his Felony theft got plead down to a misdemeaner and then when he was offered a job in law enforcement.

And he shows his thankfulness how? By stealing guns that were the property of someone else and had supposedly been placed into the custody of Redmonds secure evidence room from which Robert Goforths stuff dissapeared.

Slim Jim said...

Woah there! I almost forgot about ol' Mr. Goforth. I think there needs to be one big investigation into the sheriff's evidence room.

Slim Jim I haven't forgot a thing. I'm still trying to find out about the money from a case that alledgedly turned up missing that was in that secure evidence room. I believe that was last summer, not this past but one before that. There are others who know the exact date and case.

While you are looking into the evidence room there needs to be an audit of firearms that are supposed to be in the armory. That would be interesting. I'm not talking about Sheriffs Office records, I mean a complete ATF audit that would show every firearm purchased and what is there, what was recorded as sold and what is missing.

Same old same old. We will hire anybody, like the two SPD officers who harrassed another officer, bring them into the Sheriff's dept. How about the Mooresville Major who was forced to resign for intimidation and abuse of authority, lets hire him and make him a SRO, didn't work out, try him on the road, not capable, ok let him serve papers, he's my buddy

Anonymous said...

We had the same situation at the Sheriffs Office when one of our officer went and removed a student from class to interogate him about his activities with his daughter. Same thing but he works for Redmond so nothing was said. I have talked with the student but his parents advised him not to say anything. If only people would talk. One thing is for sure, if people ever do start talking there will be a line from here to China.

Hey Susie, what about forgiveness for a deputy that makes sexually suggestive comments to victims he is supposed to help. Women who were abused by their spouses. You got sympathy for him?

Imagine you have just been victimized by your spouse. Think about how difficult it would be to have to go through the domestic violence process. The detailed statements about the various humiliating types of abuse, the pictures, the trips to the hospital. Now imagine the deputy who is supposed to be helping you, making filthy comments to you. Sound like professional law enforcement to you?

Now this pervert is riding around the south end of the county likely looking for new women. Way to go, Sheriff Redmond. Thanks for looking out for the Mooresville citizens. What the hell happend to making Iredell a safer place to live, work, and raise a family?

Ladies of the Mooresville area. If you are a female that is the victim of domestic violence, you may want to request a female officer to respond.

Hey Mrs. Gatton, ask those police chiefs what they would do about an officer that made sexually suggestive comments to a victim?

I will send you a message soon and give you the deputy's name, and details about the case so you can research it if you like.

They put that fool back out on the road? Does the victim know? If not she needs to.

Don't worry. I am sure Phil called her and made sure it was alright.

I don't need to hide my name when making posts because I have nothing to be afraid of!! The Sheriff, when confronted with challenges to his working relationship with the cities in Iredell County, couldn't handle the heat, so he deleted me from his facebook friends like it really meant something. I am soooo hurt!!!!
We have seen no statement from the Record and Landmark about these indictments against the deputy, but an officer commits a misdemeanor offense and it is front page news. Where is the justice here? I guess since the cell phone that the reporter carries is paid for by the Sheriff, it gives him special rights and privileges to add and delete whatever he wants!! If the totality of these instances that have occurred recently don't show corruption at its finest, then we have a blind society!Any other officer or deputy at another department would have been fired on the spot! If the Sheriff says that an inter office investigation was conducted of the incident and no wrong doing was found, but the SBI found enough wrong doing to indicted, well then the SBI should be taking a closer look at the everyday operations of the Iredell County Sheriff's Department!!

Scott what did the Sheriff do to get you so riled other than telling a bald faced lie at the forum about the relationship between himself and the other agencies?

Anonymous said...

11:53, Have you not read the other posts? The man is a snake. I am just thinking outside the box here, but maybe Scott does not like dishonest people. Perhaps he thinks a Sheriff should be a man of good character. Or maybe he thinks a Sheriff should be honest and show a since of fairness. No matter how you add it up the Sheriff is a reptile.

I have watched him over the years warming up to the religious community trying to make then believe he is one of them, as he secretly laughs at their ignorance, and continues to do things like this. It makes me sick, because I am a man of faith, and I have to watch as he suckers these good people, many of them elderly. I wonder how many of them know his true reputation.

He really sells the republican name when he campaigns: Phillip “R” “R”edmond, all written in Republican red. Got to hand it to him he sells it well.

As far as him winning the election, yes, he did it again. Congrats, Phil. However, I wonder how many of these voters would have changed their votes if they knew he was hiring criminals, then hiding their criminal activities while they worked for him.

Hey Sheriff, it’s public now. How about answering to the voters that just got you elected? I think they deserve it, don’t you?

Anonymous said...

Scott is just jealous that we didn't hire him some years ago. The SPD is mad that we took some of their finest officers away from them, giving little in return. This has always been the case for decades.

We most recently took Dyson, Johnson, Kennedy, Shumaker, Lackey, and years ago Eades, and in return you get Nicholson, Smith, Wilson, Joyner, and Riter. It's a dog eat dog world, Scotty my boy! Read it and weep!

And why is everyone picking on Donna Swicegood? Did you see todays SR&L? Apparently Donna covers certain areas and this Bethany covers others. Maybe we should pass some of the delay on to her Editor? Donna has always been a friend to all of law enforcement in Iredell County, not just us. Perhaps the coverage you refer to , Scott, just happened to fall on a slow news day. Or perhaps this incident involving Adams took time to reveal itself whereas Joyner's was in broad daylight in front of witnesses.

As far as relationships between agencies goes, Sheriff Redmond has tried; Dowdle has tried; Campbell has tried. But everytime a "deal" is struck, someone with the initials B.H. (No, it doesn't stand for bull-headed, but if the shoe fits...) sabatoges it behind Anderson's back, and sets back the progress made. It's almost unfixable now, but not because of Tommy Adams, or our "stealing officers" from yall, or because of the alleged corruption yall are screaming about.

Scott, I recommend you read the Bible a little more: "He who is without sin cast the first stone." Think about it. Can't wait to hear your comments now!

Anonymous said...

You are bragging about "taking" Eades? You better stop and remember why Eades was no longer employed at the SPD when he was hired by the good brother Phil "I'm a Christian like Hayes" Redmond. And Dyson? Do ya'll think before you talk? Wait! Is this DDDD-beede-Dowdle? Can you sing I'll have a Bbb-B-De d-uh-Christmas for Tommy? And yes it took time for the Adams incident to come to light because Redmond swept it under a rock. Fact is there were witnesses there as well; Darren "No balls" Campbell and Craven both had a discussion with the Sheriff about it. The whole department has known since day one but it was hard to get the proof out just like all the other corruption we all know about. There are witnesses there as well. All just a matter of time. The illegal campaign funds need to be next. Plenty of witnesses on that one. Oh wait, one is the great Eades that you bragged about getting. I'll be damned.

And Donna Swicegood. I suppose you are saying that she only does certain types of stories. Those would be the feel good lets make the crook look good in the paper stories. Yeah, we all know. Must be nice to have a personal representative in the press.

Anonymous said...

This is alot to have to swallow. Even for Sherry.

8:56 You are ignorant when it comes to the Bible. The "cast the first stone" thing was for a woman who was caught in the act of adultry, a personal sin. Christ and the profits were very vocal in speaking out against injustice. Everyone speaking out against Redmond, Adams, the paper and the Sheriff's Office are doing the Lord's work.

Anonymous said...

I can't believe that a Phil Redmond representative would have the audacity to use the bible as part of their defense. Phil's hand would start smoking if he picked one up. He has trained you well.

By the way that was intended to be Dowdle singing a Bbb-B-De d-uh-BLUE-Christmas for Tommy.

Dowdle song here said...

Found it. Childhood footage of Dowdle and the Blue Christmas song. Here's to you Tommy, sorry the rock got rolled off for the holidays. The timing sucks.

8:56 Several of the people that you brag about hiring from the SPD were fortunate to have gotten away without charges. Also, the people who went to the SPD were a loss for the Sheriffs Office. Your viewpoint is very twisted. The good people are leaving on their own because they won't work around corruption and you are hiring the people that everyone else is firing to fill their slot. Not to mention SPD officers, I can think of at least two from Mooresville that were let go and hired by good old Phil.

Scott Reed said...

8:46- Why do you stay Anonymous? And Jealous, Please!!! At least when I took my oath to protect and serve, I know that I don't work with anyone corrupt or unethical!!

I do read the Bible: Zechariah 8:16 "These are the things you are to do: Speak the truth to each other, and render true and sound judgment in your courts;" Obviously you don't believe in this, so please, maybe you should re dedicate yourself since everything that comes out of your mouth is hypocritical!!

Unfortunate things happen to good, hard working officers, and no doubt, you got a couple of those people. But again the majority of them were trouble makers so if you think the trade was one sided, think again!!

As far as a relationship with local law agencies, the Sheriff has NEVER tried to patch anything up (just because he said it in the paper doesn't mean it REALLY happened!!) with any agency that has had issues. If he can't be front and center on the paper and take the credit for things his people do, he doesn't want a part of it!! I think there was an article released by the R & L about the county narcotics lying to a local agency about something, and it almost turning into a disaster and officers and deputies getting hurt! Even the Sheriff's own people are at risk!! Why would you want to work for a man who could care less about his own people, as long as it furthers his political career??
As far as the incident with Adams, it doesn't take all those years for something to reveal itself, its just that the Sheriff lost control of the situation and couldn't COVER IT UP like he does all the rest of the messes. Adams, if he worked for any other ETHICAL boss would have been released from duty immediately.

And as far as the R & L, I don't think, I know that the Sheriff gets what he wants, and it sets a bad example to have a reporter carry a Iredell County Sheriff Department paid cellphone because it shows that she is at the BIDDING of the Sheriff whenever he calls!!!

Reveal yourself!!

Titus 1:16 "They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good."

So true. Now time to get the rest of it out of the Sheriffs control. Let's start with the illegal campaign funds. Spotlight on Eades!

Yeah, the Sheriffs Office got Eades. Nothing to brag about considering why he is no longer at the PD. Since being on at the Sheriffs Office we have had the lake incident and the MySpace incident. Yep, I would hold my head high Phil. You got a real winner there. Your defense team really should say no further your honor. As "officers" you should know that anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law and many of your elite have no credability whatsoever.

Eureka! You're getting closer. The press isn't meant to be "a friend" to law enforcement or any other government entity for that matter. The press is the public conscience, the eyes and ears of the people, the one government watchdog we have. Shame on ANY press who is "friends" with law enforcement.

Do a good job, earn the RESPECT of the law enforcement community, and you will not have to be FRIENDS to get a story.

Take this blog for example. The author certainly hasn't been "friends" with law enforcement (at least the side of law enforcement you seem to be on), but (s)he gets the stories. No, you don't read about car wrecks here. But who gives a flying flip about those anyway?

Get with the program.

A fictional story told by a simple man for the simple men.

Once upon a time Rookie detective, Toby (evil man / thief) Odoms, saw an opportunity to nab a couple guns he liked. “I sure like those guns,” he said. He takes them home and doesn’t give it a second thought, because he knows his boss, Bill (all around evil man) Medmond will look out for him, after all he looks out for the needs of Bill. Bill appreciates that Toby is the type of guy that shares. Therefore, he makes sure Toby moves up quickly at the Sheriff’s Office.

In walks Timmy (evil man / power hungry) Craben. He discovers the guns missing. “Ha! Ha!” He says, “I will incorporate the help of my friend, Detective Lt. Barry (evil man / ball-less) McCampbell.” Detective Lt. Barry (evil man/ball-less) McCampbell eagerly listens to Timmy (evil man / power hungry) Craben, and they devise a plan to bring down Toby (evil man / thief) Odoms. “Barry, we must be certain that Bill (all around evil man) Medmond does not learn of our plans…… buh ha ha ha ha!”

Not having any detective experience, Detective Lt. Barry (evil man / ball-less) McCampbell quickly reads Interviewing for Dummies. With his new powers, he silently goes to the lair of Toby (evil man / thief) Odoms. “Hand over the guns!”said Barry (evil man / ball-less) McCampbell. Toby (evil man / thief) Odoms, shocked that he has been discovered, tries to deny his wrong doing. “At least I can depend on my pal, Bill (all around evil man) Medmond. After all, we have a lot in common.” He thinks to himself.

Later, Toby learns the Second Bunch of Idiots (SBI) has gotten involved. “Rats” he says to himself. The Second Bunch conducts their investigation. This takes approximately five years, because, well, they are the second bunch of idiots. Bill (all around evil man)Medmond, not wanting to get rid of his companion, refuses to let Toby go. “I will never let her…I mean him go,” he says!

During the five years a terrible thing happens to Detective Lt. Barry (evil man / ball-less) McCampbell, who has gotten himself neck deep in this situation, his pal, Timmy (evil man / power hungry) Craben decides to leave. “Sorry I got you into that mess pal,” said Craben. “Good luck with that whole Toby Medmond deal,” he says. Poor Detective Lt. Barry (evil man / ball-less) McCampbell is left all alone to fend for himself. Bill (all around evil man) Medmond, fearing Barry (evil man / ball-less) McCampbell may harm his reputation makes sweet promises to him and spoons with him nearly every day.

Suddenly!..........bum..bum..bum (music). Toby is indicted. “What now?” thinks Medmond.
To be continued……….

I guess the thing I find most amusing about this whole situation is the way evil men have created it.

Anonymous said...

Susie, You are really stupid. If it was politically motivated the indictment would have come down right before the Republican primary. The motivation for truth doesn't matter. The Truth is the only thing that matters.

Hey Susie baby...Here is the thought of the week and a question for you.

Redmond said that he was happy with the investigation and nothing illegal was done by Tommy "Sticky Fingers" Adams.

Now "Sticky Fingers", one of his closest friends who likes to eat at the same place gets indicted for the crime that he supposedly didn't commit.

Shouldn't the Sheriff be on the news proclaiming Sticky Fingers innocence and his confidence that this matter will be dismissed?

That was the question to you Susie baby. Now just another thought.

How does their woman feel about this? Whose side is she on? This could prove to be a dilemma in a multitude of ways.

Anonymous said...

Politically motivated? This investigation occured a long time ago on Gary Frank's watch. He was leaving and didn't want to get into it and dumped it on the current DA.

WSOC said...

Redmond is at it again, man he is good. He had WSOC up there today to report on his sex offender program and the effort he is making to have Iredell County a safe place to work, live and raise kids. Keep in mind that WSOC and the record & Landmark are news partners and the Redmond & Landfill promotes Redmond all the time. Did WSOC do a scoop on Adams while they were there? I didn't see it if they did. So the Record and Landmark had to do a scoop to cover their ass and then WSOC helped out by leaving out Adams and making Redmond look good. What a crock of effin shit.

By the way boys, there is an offender that left the jail to work in the South End. You may want to check on him. Also another that used MySpace to meet and greet.

Bush said that Iran was the axis of evil in the middle east.

Redmond is the axis of evil in Iredell County. Sitting high in the top law officer position and doing as he pleases. Time for it to stop.

Campbell, you started this Adams thing. Now you are in the middle. You pissed evil Redmond off and the good honest people are pissed because you didn't follow through. Let me help you think here; there are way more of us good guys then there are corrupt people. The (minority) corrupt are in charge for now because they have been able to keep everything hidden and keep people quiet. Well that is coming to an end slowly but surely. You can bet that Eades and Hayes are going to sing to save their siamese ass. Now it is time to dig up the illegal campaign information. Was there an investigation on that? I know it was reported. I know the R&L tore Redmond up for his open dishonesty. I know that the facts match what was said. What part did you have in that? What are you going to be named in if more indictments come about? I would be thinking real hard about the odds on this one because right now you don't have a side. Your ass is hanging out there all alone.

Anonymous said...

Oh by the way, was that a county car you used to haul the Redmond sign when you went to see Dennis? Inquiring minds want to know. If you want to be on Redmond's team, that's okay. Just make sure you have your big girl panties on to handle what comes along with that.

I like the simple story above. I actually had to laugh out loud, because I know most of these people. The fictional character "Craben" should have a little pressure put on him to come clean since he now works for the DA's office. He knows where the bones are buried and could bring down the big dog.

Simple story was great. Somebody put some effort into that. Anger funneled into humor, very healthy. Don't you think that was funny Darren? How is your sense of humor these days. I know you had your hopes up that Redmond would be voted out, but it didn't happen. Boy is your ass in a bind. You have put the Sheriff in a fix for sure. How's that working for you? Those connections that got you to the top will keep you there, but it can't be very pleasant. You are stuck between the rock of Redmond and the boulder of justice.

Everyone needs to stop and appreciate the efforts Phillip (Kenny Rogers) Redmond is making to save his reputation. All this is going on and he is grasping at anything (sex offenders story) to save his name. I for one am enjoying watching it happen slowly. It’s like watching slap stick comedy. It is way funnier to watch a person fumble for a awhile before the fall. Phil, you are like a Three Stooges episode. You have already been slapped on the head, gouged in the eyes, and had your nose pulled, the fall will come soon.

The narrative says that Adams retrieved two guns, cases and ammunition. Were the cases and ammunition recovered? If not where are they and wouldn't that be another charge if he gave them away or especially if he sold them?

There have been other reports of items being sold, specifically firearms by an ex-employee. Once again like the Adams deal everyone has heard the who when and where but you can't get the proof needed to validate the claims.

There is at least one person who had his lawyer ask about some firearms and found out that the Sheriffs Office couldn't locate them. This was before he even went to court on his charges.

Link here said...

8:28 don't get overly confident yet. Redmond may be corrupt but he is damn good at it. He has pull that in the opinion of many goes into the SBI and possibly even higher. Of course that can backfire on a grand scale if things do blow apart. Redmond has been able to get as far as he has because there is a network of support around him. That also means that there are more people to charge that would be willing to talk to save themselves.

Speaking of connections, I have heard that Redmond and Jim Black had a barbeque together years ago. Can anyone confirm that? Seriously, all jokes and smart ass remarks aside. I have gathered that but couldn't confirm it from other sources. For those of you who don't remember Jim Black there is a link above. Here is the good part of his conviction that I hope applies to Redmond.

"Federal prosecutors have said the plea deal with Black involves his assistance in their continued investigation into political corruption in North Carolina government." Jim was tied into the video poker machine business which we know is an issue here.

Link here said...

Here is another cooperative person...

"the federal investigation earlier this year nabbed ex-Easley aide Ruffin Poole, who pleaded guilty in federal court to tax evasion. Prosecutors put aside more than 50 other counts in an indictment accusing him of helping move along state permits for coastal housing projects while receiving gifts and a sizable investment return on two of those subdivisions. Poole agreed to cooperate with federal investigators as part of his plea agreement."

And of course Easley himself has agreed to plea guilty to one minor charge and the rest have been dropped. (Link above to full story)

If Redmond has the ties that have been suggested, and he certainly has gotten away with a lot for a long time, then this may just be what we have been waiting for.

We all see the articles in the paper. Redmond said the drugs were confiscated through an investigation, Redmond said his department is working hard to make Iredell County safer. You know how it goes. So why is it that Capt. marty Byers is answering questions about Adams being indicted? Why does the "Sheriff" run and hide everytime something bad happens? He doesn't want his name associated with bad press. It's all about votes and his false image. Redmond is a coward of the worse kind who bullies people through the use of the morons he surrounds himself with. Why haven't we seen Redmond on tv like other Sheriffs do when something needs to be answered at their department? He is such a waste of skin and a cancer to Iredell County.

Darren, don't complain about the Sheriff with your belly full.

Was that a county car that Campbell and Poteat used the day they took the sign to Dennis's house? Were they off the clock? I can't imagine the two of them riding to see somebody about county business using their own car and while off the clock. Wouldn't it be illegal to haul a campaign sign in a county car and while on county time? I mean if they did you know.

Why if Redmond knew that he would fire them both. Yeah right. Remember when Redmond was storing his campaign signs at the office? A deputy carried one out of the office and gave it to a lady out front. Using county property to store campaign signs and an on the clock county employee to distribute them. That was in the paper as well as many other things. What more "proof" does the D.A. need to go ahead with more charges and on Redmond this time?

Redmond is above the law, he is the law and Campbell is his right hand eunich I mean man.

I think if darren was facing a charge he would probably be willing to sing like a fish or is that swim like a canarie. Anyway, just wanted to wish you guys a Merry Christmas. See you soon!

This incident took place around 2005? That is close to 2006 when the illegal campaign activities took place. Tommy Adams is a good start but let's go to the next step here. Time to indict the man that runs this operation.

Anonymous said...

I recall all the information about the campaign corruption being in the Record & Landmark.

-The Statesville Redmond & Landfill, in an editorial, tore Redmond up over the matter and said something to the effect that if Redmond considered himself above the law on this then how could we trust him with the responsiblilty of being Sheriff.

-What about the investigation by the election board? I recall where several people said it didn't look right but whatever, Steve Johnson was one of them. By the way it is becoming more apparent that Steve "I'm a self righteous Christian" just might be one of Redmond's devout followers and supporters in all of this mess.

-There were names listed as people who contributed but didn't. Hoe do you acidently assign specific dollar amounts to a specific name?

-There was a jar put out to collect money in that nobody knew who put what in. The law requires documentation of ALL contributions even if they aren't enough to have to report.

-There were funds accepted by businesses that had to be returned. (Proof of that is at the Board of Elections)

-When the Sheriff was questioned on this he did what his greasy ass always does and put it off on somebody else. This time it was Rick Eades who would be the main one to ask about all of this. Redmond said that Eades was out of town and he would have to check with him when he got back. Considering that Eades has to sing a song to remember how to tie his shoes I am certain that he was told to put those names with those dollar amounts. If I had to take another wild guess it was Redmond that directed the whole thing or possibly Dowdle since he is over the department budget and is used to making things work.

I have heard that there was an investigation into this and that several key people were interviewed. If that is so, what happened to it? Time to dig up some more Redmond dirt Jamie. The citizens of Iredell County deserve to know who is in office here.

I wonder how much Campbell knows about the election issues. He went after Adams and got him investigated which led to his indictment but does he have the balls to go after Redmond? I guess just because he bitches about Redmond and what a jackass he is doesn't mean that he will do what is right on the big man. Actually the descriptive word used at least once wasn't jackass it was sonofabitch. He got it right but will he stand behind what he said or is he going to remain a sell out? Darren you say you don't have any use for Redmond but you talk out of both sides of your mouth. No wonder Redmond has you in a high position in his administration. Life is messy when you butter your bread on both sides. Got to hand it to Hayes and Eades I have never heard them bad mouth the Sheriff. Not since Hayes drank the koolaid anyway. They are devoted. Right or wrong you have to respect that to some degree.

Uh oh, Phil. A media outlet you can't control, unlike your little lap dog Donna Swicegood. Hey, perhaps if you pay for a cell phone for Jamie she will be nicer to you. What other benefits are you giving Donna there buddy?

It's going to be a long four years. Maybe your mind will go first and you won't even realize whats going on, old man!

Phil, It's amazing what you can get for $43,000 per year. If you ask me it was grossly over priced.

Darren is only $63,000. Look at what all he can do! He can make promises to everyone on all sides. He's good. He is the man. He's almost a Red man.

***SECURITY CHECK****

All Deputies, please keep a security check in the area of Charis Road and Wallace Springs Road. An over weight subject has been seen frequenting the area. It is believed he may not be an American citizen because witnesses advise he has trouble speaking the english language. If seen, use caution. You may detect a strong odor of Redmond's but on his breath.

The thing that is most amazing to me are the FEW koolaid drinkers that work at the Sheriff's Office.

They walk around like citizens of Jones Town blaming this blog for their poor reputation in the community. None of them ever stop and consider that their boss' actions may have something to do with it.

All Ms. Gatton is doing is picking up the stories that Swicegood intentionally fails to pick up.

I saw a sign the other day that was paid for by Tony Brewer in support of Phil Redmond. It is located on Davie Avenue near King Of the Sea. It read "If it aint broke don't fix it". Hey Tony boy, do you think it is broken yet? How much more evidence has to turn up stolen or missing there, Tony boy? Is Phil giving you any special treatment, Tony boy? How about it Tony. You felt strong enough to support your boy with a high dollar sign. How about speaking up and defending his actions. It is free. I will be waiting for your reply Tony boy.

Anonymous said...

Hey Tony boy, still waiting. You seemed very strongly about your man during the primary. How about now?

Hey, how about some of you redmonites giving Tony boy a call and letting him know I am asking about him.

Darren, are you a Redmonite today? If not, how about on one of the days that you are, and calling Tony for me. I would appreciate it.

Hopefully the truth will come out on it's own. Redmond you had to get re-elected to cover your ass, but getting elected is only going to delay the inevitable. Too bad for you that Gary Frank moved off and Alan Martin didn't get elected. All you are is dust in the wind.

These comments are terrible. If all this is true how can Redmond still be the sheriff? There is no way this stuff can go on for 16 or more years as some are suggesting.

Even John Gatti did not last as long in leading the maffi as Redmond has as the sheriff. Are you suggesting that he is more powerful than John Gatti? Come on.....get real.

It is good that the firarms that Adams took have been recovered. Now there are more unaccounted firearms that citizens are saying are missing. There was also a report of somewhere between $5000 and $8000 that was discovered missing. Rumors? I don't know but Adams was a "rumor" and the illegal campaign activities are "rumor" even though they are all documented. Time to start digging deep.

Anonymous said...

6:31; oh it be true. Just ask Campbell when Redmond isn't around.

Anonymous said...

Still waiting Mr. Brewer.

Anonymous said...

I am certain that Mr. Brewer is not overly concerned about the incident involving Tommy Adams. After all it's just one deputy that made a judgement call, right? Also if Sheriff Redmond had any knowledge that this occured and the seriousness of it he would have fired Adams on the spot. You and I both know that.

As the sign reads, "If ain't broke don't fix." Nothing is broken, everything is okay. This is an isolated incident that a handful of people are making a big tadoo about.

If that damned Darren Campbell would have minded his own business this never would have happened. Nothing to see here, move along.

Redmond’s top 10 interview questions for potential Supervisors:

1. Who is your family?

2. How big is your family’s farm?

3. What does your wife look like?

4. Does she like Kenny Rogers?

5. Do you have a picture of her?

6. Do you think she would like my gold chains?

7. Do you like Peachy?

8. Do you have a college education? No? Good.

9. Do you ride horses in the Valley?

10. Can I see that picture again?

Anonymous said...

Wonder how many of those supervisors are on the Adams advancement plan?

Anonymous said...

I can just picture Redmond with his shit eating greasy used car salesman grin and a big chaw of tobacco in his mouth saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." At least they were smart enough not to put one of his 15 year old Saturday Night Fever pictures on there or a broke down picture from now.

I know this post is making you grin Campbell, unless Redmond or one of his true boys is standing behind you. You despise the greasy old coot don't you? Come on and tell it. You'll feel better in the morning! Break down for me buddy. It is either now or later. Best to be on the right side when the shit really hits the fan. This isn't anything.

Remember this last election when you got sent to the poll to replace someone else and hand out cards for Phil? Remember how you sat in your car as long as you could and then refused Phil's cards when they were handed to you? You didn't even want to hand out Uncle Phil's cards you are so damned ashamed to be associated with him. You know what he is and don't mind making that clear in the right crowd.

When this all blows up you are going to be on this side saying how relieved you are that "the son of a bitch" (your term) is finally gone. Fact is this side is going to be as welcoming as Phil's side after it is over. You have screwed yourself royally. Better bail while you have some face left.

Oh, and this is NOT J.T. leave him out of this. J.T. is gone he had enough sense to leave this den of thieves and cut throats. You have many names to guess from my friend since you have denied Phil to many people. Pretty much everyone but Phil come to think of it.

Well, Happy New Year and we will see you around the office!

P.S. maybe we will get J.T. and several other good people back after Phil is gone and then we can get rid of some of the rejects that he hired after they were deemed unfit by other agencies.

Happy New Year Darren!

Since Redmond didn't issue a statement about the Adams investigation allow me to write one up in absencia. (Insert Photo by Donna Swicegood of Phil pointing at some drugs, taken on her complimentary cell phone.)

" Uh, Tommy, uh Tommy Adams (spit) he's a good guy and did you see where my hard working Interstate officers got $300,000 in cocaine? And Adams, his wife, er I mean those guns were... Those sex offenders were checked at Christmas and Tommy, I didn't serve any evictions over the Christmas week. Where was I?

That Goforth guy was just causing problems 'cause my evidence room is secure and those plants that were confiscated at Davidsons had nothing to do with his being one of my contributors and Tommy, well Tommy is a good guy. He uh, those guns, we'll Campbell uh they appeared at Tommy's house and well the Burger barn is where I usually go and...who are you? Hold on a minute, call Dowdle and tell him to interupt that interview for me I need a photo right now to make me look good. Uh yeah, uh damn this is a mess and Tommy, well nothoing else has ever happened like this and McCollum as soon as I found out about that I, uh well like Tommy he didn't do anything wrong the Sheriffs Standards said so and that record is gone I don't know hwy ya'll are asking me about this, shit I covered it up what more do you want? If it wasn't for that cookie burning Gatton bitch, uh... drugs! I get drugs all the time. This is a safe place to live work and raise a family and that car I ran into from the back that never happened either. Tommy he is innocent and if he isn't I didn't know anything about it and I got drugs off the streets, that's what I did. What's taking Dowdle so long with that suspect... Tommy who? I need a burger.

Where are all you Redmond supporters now that the Messiah has been exposed for what he truly is.

I mean hiring a man knows has a reputation for stealing. Sounds pretty incompetent to me.

Makes me wonder about some of the other employees?

Anonymous said...

Redmond hired McCollum with a background of theft as well. After being employed at the Sheriffs Office he forged a degree which resulted in theft of funds. If I recall correctly the forgery was shown to Redmond who did nothing until someone contacted the FBI and the FBI charged him for the crime.

I don't understand how a Sheriff can be presented with the facts of a crime but not do anything about it and still not be held accountable himself. (Two cases, two felonies, one Federal.) How does that work? A common everyday citizen would be charged with accessory after the fact. Does being the highest ranking law enforcement officer in the county give you immunity from prosecution?

Anonymous said...

I'm all for giving someone a chance to redeem themselves for past mistakes, but when you are given that chance and you violate that trust, that chance is gone.

In Redmond's case I don't think it is a matter of giving someone a chance to redeem themselves it is a matter of I'll give you a job and you will owe me. I also think that the example set by Redmond is encouragement to those under him to break the law to suit themselves. If things go bad the honor among thieves rule goes into effect unless one of the good guys gets word of what happened and incident gets leaked.

That is what led us up to today and what will lead us into other charges as well.

Ive been checking on Jamie's reports for sometime now, interesting! All I can say is that after 12 years serving this fine county I now sit at home UNEMPLOYED of coarse and cant find work due to not being in the click!! Its ok to fail drug test and to committ larceny and even cheat on your wife while on the clock! Hey Rick how was your "Private Apartment"? There is alot to come out and I guess some will have alot to cover up! Better get ready fellows maybe a bumpy ride!! Its funny when procedure is followed your treated like a criminal and repremanded for doing right! Hell I guess I had Law Enforcement backwards for years! Does this mean to get out of a speeding ticket... drive faster? Didn't think so!!!! ICSO GARBAGE!!!

Bob Barker said...

10:32 I am pretty sure I know who you are. If I am right, then I know you have a good story to tell. You have been offered to talk to Jamie and agreed to do so but haven't. Are you the one who got cussed out by the Sheriff and had benefits denied and then the decision overturned because the ICSO was deamed a hostile work environment? If so, you have the Sheriff by his tiny little nuts but you won't get anywhere whining in a post.

Bob Barker said...

I said the ICSO was "deamed" a hostile work environment. I should have said documented. If I recall there is paperwork to that fact.

Some can do whatever they please, steal guns, flirt with teenagers on Myspace, openly have women on the side, steal Federal money using false documentation, harrass a victim of domestic abuse, hell there isn't room for all of them here. These people got covered by the Sheriff. Yet others can be accused of something and their world comes down around them. I remember one officer who got moved from the Southend for harrassing a woman and then got promoted to being over detectives. That is how Redmond rolls.

Redmond also hired a Mooresville P.D. reject who abused power by threatening a teenager. One of Redmonds top boys did the same thing at North when he pulled a teenager from a classroom at North to harass him about activities with his daughter. Got that one straight from the kid himself. The officer that did this is a wear it on your sleeve Christian like Redmond.

It's all in who you are at the ICSO. Different rules for different folks. If you are willing to do the Sheriffs dirty bidding you get to do your own dirty crap.

Hey Bob your right, now that my certification has expired and no one willing to listen to the facts what do I have to loose! I know that in 12 years I personally did not ever have anything negative in my file!! I can rest easy with knowing that! I did not ever sell out. RIGHT IS RIGHT! I just can't believe that after all my dedication to this county this is how it all ended!! WOW factor is on high!!

Good morning Darren. Back to another week at ICSO as one of the top position, top payed people for doing nothing except being Redmonds boy toy. You had political pull and you used your one wish to get yourself in one hell of a bind. You sure stay nervous and wound up but I understand. You are waiting for the hammer to drop. Which side is going to get you first? Could be Redmond. Has he asked you about refusing to hand out his election cards yet? It happened, didn't it. Remember somebody else was supposed to work that poll and decided not to go so you were sent instead? Oh yeah. What about calling him a son of a bitch. bet he didn't appreciate that either. I know you are denying it to him but it happened and you know it did so you must be freaking. You always freak. You freak out when it comes out that you don't want to associated with Redmond and you freak out when people think you are on Redmonds side. Must be rough waiting until the last minute to abandon ship. Jump too soon and Redmond gets you. Jump too late and you get sucked down with the rest of them. As fat as you got sitting in that position coupled with the stress of playing both sides has got to be heading you towards a coronary. You can't be a silent partner when it comes to corruption in law enforcement. You have made your choice and you are one of them. Time to do something dirty so they trust you again. Right now I don't think they consider you one of them, but the courts and the public will. You don't have any friends on either side. All you have is honor among thieves with Redmond, Hayes, Eades and Dowdle. I wouldn't want that crowd as back up. That honor will last until the first major indictment and when you jump over on this side we are going to throw you back because you didn't do the right thing on your own. You go ahead and hang with your pretend law enforcement buddies. Be sure to swallow and maybe they won't turn on you completely.

Wipe the dumb ass smile off your face when you see me, because the gig is up. Hopefully Statesville has a clue as to what kind of back-stabbing, gossip-starting POS you are. Backstabbing? Who didn't want to hand out the Sheriffs cards at the polls during the primaries? You baby. Now for someone who has rank and for the reason you are where you I would consider that the work of a PROFESSIONAL back stabber. Like I said before, I was told that you would smile and hug me just so you could stab me in the back. You better wake up to reality. Oh, and leave J.T. alone. There is a whole group of people who are waiting to see you fall with your crooked counterparts. You are a silent partner in the corruption.

Tuesday morning Darren awoke and ran to check the blog. Crikeys! Another post with his name. Who is this bloke that keeps hounding him to do the right thing?

He thought it was J.T. Smith, once a mate but now gone to the bordering land of Statesville P.D. where other honest officers have fled to in an effort to escape the corruption of the Redmond regime! But alas, he now knows that it wasn't J.T. afterall.

Yes, there is another post, this time with an Australian accent. Who does he know that talks such a way? It MUST be J.T. in disguise! He's a clever one he is. "It's got to be 'im 'cause all the other blokes like me", said Darren in a panic. "It's that J.T. and that dumb ass grin of 'is it is for sure!"

He curses violently and throws his coffee mug across the room. "'ow did I get meself into such a tight spot", he wondered. "I tried to do the right thing and now that Redmond character is still in charge. What a fix, what a fix."

NOT J.T. said...

"If only I could get my 'ands on the bastard", said Darren. "But then again, what would I do 'cause I'm balless", he thought shaking 'is head.

And crikeys! He really wished they would stop talking about the poll incident where he didn't want to hand out cards for the Sheriff. That one really showed just what a turncoat he was! Who would have thought that Redmond would survive another election as bad as most blokes despise 'im? He's got nine lives he does. Like a bloomin' cat! All this unethical activity and no indictments? There 'ave been investigations, but no indictments. Oh except for the investigation that Darren started. Of course THAT one would be the one that got away from Redmond. It's like Darren was in a pit with the meanest croc in all of the outback and the SBI came in and kicked 'im about and left Darren looking at 'im face to face!

What will 'appen? Just 'ow pissed is the Sheriff at Darren? Does the Sheriff 'ave enough connections to make this go away? Will Darren do the right thing and talk about what all he knows? Does the Sheriff 'ave dirt on Darren? Being a silent partner in corruption is the same as 'olding the gun yourself.

All it takes for evil to flourish is for good blokes to do nothing, but it appears that Darren isn't the good bloke he claims to be.

When it seems like there's no one left to run to in this empty world you can come to me I'll be your shooting star. You can tell me your dreams I can't promise to make them come true, but I'll be there to pick up the pieces of your broken heart if your dreams happen to fall through.

I want someone to share my secrets with, someone to talk to late at night when I can't sleep, someone who feels comfortable around my family, someone to comfort me when I'm scared, to hold me when I'm sad, someone who doesn't need to say that he loves me for me to know its true.

Have you ever heard a song from so long ago with so many memories tied to it that it made you cry? And didn't you with that you could go back into time when everything seemed so much simpler and carefree? Those are songs that are the soundtrack of our lives... the ones that bring back childhood memories, best friends, first love, first heartbreak... the memories.

Why did I break up with him? Well ,it's like, once I sat down and looked at the situation, all the pieces lying on the floor, it just wasn't a puzzle anymore. None of the pieces fit together. And even if I tried really hard, the pieces, well they were two different puzzles. That's why I did it, he needs to understand that.

I feel like I am sitting in a room full of people that I love, and you know what, they just don't care that I love them. They don't care whether or not I live or die. To them I'm just another girl, just another stranger. To me, they are my best friends, the only people I have left.

I'm only me. That is all I can be. No more, no less, dont second guess. I love, I live, I laugh, I cry. I've wished sometimes that I could die. Some days I'm funny, others I'm not, sometimes I'm in overdrive and I can't stop. You may not like me, but that's okay because this is me and how I'll stay.

All our lives we search for someone to love, someone to make us complete. We choose partners and change partners. We dance to a song of heartbreak and hope, all the while wondering if somewhere, somehow, someone perfect is searching for us too.

When you say I'm beautiful I say "yeah right," but what I'm really saying is "do you really think so?" When you say good job I say "thanks" but what I'm really saying is "I love that you notice." When you say we'll be together forever I say "I hope so" but what I'm really saying is "I hope forever never ends." When you say I love you I say "I love you too" but what I'm really saying is "never stop saying that." When you say that I don't care I say "yes I do" but what I'm really saying is "I care for you more than you'll ever know."

I am not one of those girls who spend hours dreaming about getting married, living in a perfect house with 2 and half children, a dog, a cat and a white picket fence, i am not one of those girls who has had their wedding planned since the age of 6 and fantasizes about it every second they get or the kind of girl who spends her whole class scribbling little hearts and kisses all over a peice of lined paper...but i found myself today...writing my first name with your last… Never_the_star

Sometimes I feel like no one cares. Sometimes I feel like no one is there. Sometimes I want to kill myself. Sometimes I think I need some help. Sometimes I feel like I'm alone. Sometimes I'm in an empty zone. Sometimes I feel like I'm not alive. Sometimes I wonder if I'm deprived. Sometimes I think the world should end. Sometimes I think I have no friends. Sometimes I want to make them see that sometimes I wish I wasn't me...

A guy out there was meant to be the love of your life, your best friend, your soul mate, the one you can tell your dreams to. He'll smile at you, but he'll never laugh at your heart. He'll brush the hair out of your eyes. Send you flowers when you least expect it. He'll stare at you during the movies, even though he paid $8 to see it. He'll call to say goodnight or just cause he is thinkin of you. He'll look in your eyes and tell you, you're the most beautiful girl in the world, and for the first time in your life, you'll believe it.

smell her hair. talk to her in movie theaters. hold her hand while you talk. tell her shes beautiful. look her in the eyes when you talk to her. tell her stupid jokes. let her play with your hair. just walk around with her. look at her like shes the only girl you see. tickle her, even if she says stop. when she starts swearing at you, tell her you love her. let her fall asleep in your arms. get her mad, then kiss her. tease her. let her tease you back. kiss her forehead. when shes sad, hang out with her. let her take all the photos of you she wants. kiss her in the rain...

We don't have to worry about whether it's wrong or right, Because for once, This is our night.

I didn't even read much of the above posts. Apparently Campbell or Eades or one of their affiliates pasted and copied some stuff from one of their online romance books due to lack of wit. Since the romance novels are usually geared for teenagers I would consider Eades to be suspect.

Then again the paragraph that starts out with "Sometimes I feel like no one cares" that could be Campbell if you read into it.

Either way they are posts made by someone going unarmed into a battle of wits. That could be any of Redmonds favorites... or someones girlfriend. Can't wait to see this bunch in court on the stand. Dowdle on the swearing in; I d-d-d-bu-du dee du UH I d-d-dbu DO! All downhill from there.

How many people have been let go by the Sheriff while an officer ran into a car while pursuing a motorcycle (witch is against sop) killing the driver. The sheriff placed the blame on the citizen. another deputy was put into the jail (in order to hide him) because women were complaining on him. also one Deputy was put into the Jail for crashing 3 county cars within 2 years the last one when he was under doctors pain medication. all this time how many deputies have been fired because they do not have political pull or affiliation that could help the sheriff politically.

Anonymous said...

The Officer chasing the bike was cleared by the State Highway patrol and I would assume the DA if it was presented to her.

The Deputy put in the jail shouldn't even be wearing a badge in the jail or out of the jail.

Didn't know about the one crashing 3 cars in two years and the last one on pain meds but would like to know more.

And, I can think of at least two that are no longer there who didn't do anything to get disciplined or fired but are no longer there. Also many more really good officers who left because of the Redmond administration who have been replaced with rejects from other departments. Politics are everything with Redmond.

Might I recommend that you start eating foods with an even higher fat content. You should also consider smoking. Don't you agree Darren?

GUESS WHO WON SHERIFF ELECTION...Redmond.

Guess who won the Governors election...Easley (indicted)

Remember Jim Black? ...indicted.

Hege? he had a big mouth and was flamboyant like Redmond....indicted.

Guess who our elected sheriff put into a position of trust that he repeatedly violated? McCollum.... indicted.

Guess who else Redmond put in a position of trust with no experience and a shady background? ...Tommy Adams....indicted.

Now it is time for the openly and flagrantly campaign violations to be brought out so Redmond can be... indicted.

How about the extortion of a local car dealer? Another good indictment. And SOOOOO many more. I don't have time to type them all. Can't wait for the shit to hit the fan.

Go Phil! (To jail, go directly to jail. Don't pass go. Don't collect pay off money.) Grease up your pencil Darren! Time to talk and write statements. What about that trip to the old house to pick up the paper bag? If it's a lie, you told it buddy. You are in this up to your fat little head. Lot's of stress. Maybe you and Porky can get a semi-private together.

I didn't know they let people write on blogs from the pen. That's nice of them.

10:41: I hope that they do so the Redmonites can continue to proclaim their innocence.

Let's post a purely hypothetical scenario followed by a few questions. Lets say that someone drives a high ranking official to a location. The official tells him/her to pull over here. The official gets out of the car and comes back carrying a large paper sack. The sack has a tear in it and the driver can see that it is full of money.

1.) Would there be anything to indicate that maybe there was something not on the up and up?

2.) If the driver told this to other people, would that indicate that he/she was aware that something was not on the up and up?

3.) Does the driver have a duty to report this incident as a possible act of corruption?

4.) Does the prospect of losing his/her job excuse the driver from reporting corruption?

5.) Does the high ranking official have any dirt on the driver that would prevent him/her from reporting this?

6.) Is the driver just a spineless backstabber who is only concerned with self preservation?

Anonymous said...

Perhaps the driver wants to be just like him? That is why he continues to support him.

Anonymous said...

Perhaps. But then again depending on who the driver is talking to he/she refers to the official in a very derogatory manner. The driver supposedly wants the official removed and gone from office. If I was the official I would be furious to know that I was talked about that way by someone who kissed my pinky ring to my face.

I don't think the driver ever considered it a possibility that the official would still be in office this length of time. He/she went along to survive while undermining the official behind his back to keep him/herself in good graces with the honest crowd. Now it has gone on so long that the driver has become a part of it. What to do. What to do.

Ask Sheriff Mike Cain of Yadkin County, so I mean ex-sheriff and convicted after an SBI investigation. Check out WXII TV web site

Anonymous said...

So when are they coming to Iredell? The stuff that guy did is petty in comparison.

Yadkin Sheriff link said...

Sheriff Cain used some county funded bikes for a joy ride. Damn! That's all? Oh yeah and some embezzlement. I mean I understand the problem with that and don't have a problem with charges but where in the hell does the SBI get off not running Redmond up a flagpole? Sheriffs all around Iredell are getting indicted for piddlyshit while we have a mafia wantabee heading up our department. WTF?!!!!!

Anonymous said...

hey Jamie, time for an article titled,

"Redmond, WTF?!!!!"

Anonymous said...

Maybe Cain should have gotten his extra money in paper sacks and envelopes instead of checks. Is Cain one of the Sheriffs in the painting at the Burger Barn?

How about the extortion of a local car dealer?
I WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THIS >>>>

What does Sherry have in common with a cup of coffee from Denny's?

Senior citizens can get them both cheap.

Ex-Sheriff Gets 6-year Sentence (Excerpts. Link to full article above. Click Bob Barker)

RALEIGH -- As the top law enforcement officer taking over a scandal-plagued bureaucracy in 1994, Sheriff Glenn Maynor gave Robeson County hope for a fresh start.

But an end to the corruption never came, and on Thursday a federal judge gave the now disgraced former sheriff six years in prison.

Although evidence failed to prove Maynor knew the full extent of corruption around him, U.S. District Court Judge Terrence Boyle held Maynor responsible for running a dirty Sheriff's Office with a history of scandal that preceded him. (Redmond won't know anything about it either. He'll be as innocent and naive as a 12 year old Iowa farm girl.)

Boyle had already sentenced 20 of Maynor's deputies, including almost the entire command staff and all of the drug enforcement deputies. (Hold on to your ass Darren it's going to be a hard ride.)

Judge Boyle asked Maynor why he let corruption continue. "How did this rampant, invasive, institutional corruption get rooted out? It didn't, did it?" Judge Boyle asked. "There's this wall of silence and resistance from public officials who are willing to go to jail and willing to keep quiet." O'Hale said Maynor knew he broke the law.

Maynor resigned in 2006 and is now the 21st former county lawman sentenced in Operation Tarnished Badge, a six-year state and federal corruption investigation.

(Now here comes the REALLY interesting part...)

He received five years (prison sentence)for paying on-duty deputies to work at his home and at a golf event to raise campaign funds.

(That last paragraph should hit a nerve with a bunch people. Remember when Redmond was building his house? I do and so do a bunch of others. And the golf course fundraiser. This whole thing sounds REALLY familiar, only a different county and no indictments yet. Hopefully only a matter of time boys!)
