Independence Day celebrations were plentiful in Iredell County this weekend.
But perhaps the most patriotic, home-grown celebration was in Troutman, where people young and old converged Saturday for the town's annual Independence Celebration Parade.
The flag-lined streets welcomed antique war vehicles, horses, tractors and patriotic floats carrying war veterans, pageant queens and a politician or two. Purple Heart recipients served as the parade's grand marshals.
Here are a few photos from the event:

Gatton's column has obviously been hacked and is being written by someone other than Gatton. You can tell since she hasn't written anything in two years that didn't call Phil Redmond an incomputent crook and this article didn't even mention his name. Obviously written by someone other than Gatton.
Yet you've obviously continued to follow it. If she has written about the same person for that long, why do you keep reading it? Perhaps if you wouldn't post anonymously, she could write about you!
What JPawlak said stalker boy.
If you truly knew her, you would know why she included the first picture. I enjoyed them all!
Gorgeous pictures!
5:50, I am with you. So disappointed nothing is said about Redmond. There is so much more to be revealed.
5:50 When you have an immoral thug like Redmond creating stories from his own unethical behavior someone has to cover it. You certainly can't depend on the Record and Landmark. I would certainly like to hear your thoughts on the most recent post about him, since you seem to have a blind loyalty to him.
Was Phil not there in his high dollar golf cart? Should have had a video of him jumping in line in front of the grand marshal last year at Union Grove. He pissed a bunch of people off. Since he was driving the cart he couldn't blame it on one of his ass kissers either.
could anybody explain to me why trouman needs 30+ cops ???? they have NOTHING to do but harrass the local population. Has the town board lost they're minds??? or do they have WAY to much tax money..........BOY! I sure feel safe
