County to release statement re: animal-services manager

More details on Iredell County Animal Services Manager Chris Royal should be released tomorrow.

Human Resources Director Sandra Gregory declined to comment on Royal's current employment status with the county. Royal was suspended with pay on March 15 pending an investigation into an anonymous letter that alleged Royal has improperly euthanized animals and sold county-impounded livestock for her own personal gain.

Gregory said Iredell County Manager Ron Smith will issue a press release tomorrow afternoon.

Hopefully the county officials will make whatever changes need to be made to restore integrity to the Animal Services department. The county's Animal Grievance Board however operates with non-paid appointees and have no ties to the shenanigans reported. We can be counted on to make an unbiased decision based on the county laws & ordinances and public safety.

Press charges & let a court decide. Don't sweep this under the rug.

Ron Smith has covered for her ever since he has been manager. Is she going to be made to repay what she has ripped off from the taxpayers? Is she going to be getting her pension? She's been on a paid vacation on her yearly salary of $$57822/year, last year's figure, so that's over $1100 per week. Plus benefits that probably add up to tens of thousands each year.

I only hope that the county hires someone who has a background in the proper running of a shelter and humane care of animals. Then I hope the county cleans house in that place. I know of at least 2 of her boys who are every bit as bad as she is. She did not do this all by herself.

How do you spell relief? G-R-A-N-D J-U-R-Y!!!

I agree with 3:11. This woman needs to be charged and let a court have at her. The court should NOT be in Iredell County. This needs to be a clean trial.

There is no way you can believe that they have not had one case where they did not agree with animal controls recommendation. The board is packed with friends of Ms. Royal's. The while situation needs review and changes across the board.

The board has never disagreed with animal controls recommendations. This is something that is just incredibly hard to believe especially when you recognize that they are all personal friends of Chris Royal. This while department needs to be overhauled.

There is more to this story than is being told. As far as an "unbiased non-paid board" I have a question to ask you. Are you part of Iredell County's GOOD OL' BOY NETWORK? "You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours?" Paid or not paid, politics = cash and favors are called in. The PUBLIC KNOWS ABOUT CHRIS NOW and JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED!!!!! There IS MORE INFORMATION TO BE REVEALED! And it is NOT PRETTY! We're just sitting back and waiting to see what the county does. If THEY don't prosecute her, there is info out there that will!

We must vote these commissioners out. None of them have an honest bone in their body. Hell just look at Griffith, everyone knows she is a liar.

Speaking of liars on the board and how they gave her what she wanted, they gave her a livestock area and look what she did with it. Betcha she's got a fat old billfold to supplement her lack of gainful employment and so does old CRaig.
