Channel 9 has learned new details in the sexual harassment lawsuit against Iredell County Deputy Ben Jenkins, who is accused of targeting domestic violence victims.
Documents filed in federal court this week reveal allegations that behavior was condoned and committed higher up in the department.

Why are these clowns under criminal indictment? Shouldn't law enforcement officers be held to a higher standard? It takes a monumental amount of nerve to try and get any of this thrown out, but of course, they are going to try. The sad thing is that Redmond is going to have his defenders. Still.
BTW, when is Tommy Adams going to come to trial? Is that ever going to be resolved? Justice certainly moves ever so slowly in Iredell county.
Same old same old. This type behavior has been going on since Redmond was elected. Now the person he trained to take his place is running for sheriff. Expect more of the same if he is elected. ET
So, let's get this right. You are going to judge a good man on the grounds he works at the Sheriffs Office. And since he works there, he is a bad guy. The last time I checked Phil Redmond is the Sheriff, not Campbell. An old bible verse. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Now as far as Ben Jenkins. Hell he needs to go. He makes the whole department look bad.
Are you serious Anonymous 9:59pm Campbell has trained under all of them. He, his fellow officers and higher up have chance after chance to take action concerning this matter and have to ignore it time and time again. He has let the behavior continue and it will continue if he is elected.
Let me guess, 9:59 PM. You didn't read the court documents linked here. If you had, you would have seen that Darren Campbell made an appearance in them. I'll grant him one thing, he decided that Mrs. Wick's accounts were more believable than Mr. Jenkins'. But what did Mr. Campbell do? Nothing. The great Martin Luther King, Jr. once said "He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it."
Really, 9:59? I think it's perfectly obvious that birds of a feather flock together. I've known of any number of people who have had run-ins with Darren Campbell and his boys can do no wrong, even when confronted with proof of their heavy handedness or rudeness. All he cares about is what looks good in the paper, that is, catching someone on 40 with drugs and even those look questionable to me. Darren is just another Good Old Boy, cut from the same cloth as Redmond. He's even using a big old trailer with his name and such painted all over it, just like Redmond has for the sheriff's office with his name all over it. Wonder who is paying for that and who came up with that idea?
I wonder if old Ricky Boy is Go Redmond? As for Ben Jenkins needing his ass beat, 3 times is not nearly enough and castration with a dull, rusty knife would be a good start. Just a start.
It's pretty clear that these good old boys have no respect for women and no respect for anyone they don't respect. There needs to be some housecleaning done come next year. I believe the current regime is a bunch of at will employees. They'd be gone if I were the new sheriff. Here's hoping it's not Darren.
What I wonder is why the other news crews have not got wind of this yet?
If you took time to read the documents submitted and attached to the article, I really question how a video concerning Ben Jenkins could just magically "disappear" from a computer that belongs to a major candidate??
Well I hate to break it to you guys it will be Darren as new sheriff because he is being backed by Redmond and a the others in the dept that have chosen to try to sweep this matter under the rug since it has happened. Unless people really listen to the truth and decide to vote this "regime" out it will stay the same.

I must say, I was a Campbell supporter as I was fooled into believing Captain Byers and Major Campbell were good Christian people, but after finding out that Campbell has swept this type of disgusting behavior under the rug, and Captain Byers even went as far as blaming the victim makes my decision easier. Mark Nicholson for Sheriff. If Campbell is elected, these same people will be left in the positions they are in only to hurt more people. It is pathetic!
Maybe someday they'll feel differently if their daughters are in the shoes of these women. What goes around truly does come back around.
Tolerating behavior = Condoning behavior
Darren Campbell, Marty Byers, Phil Redmond, and anyone else who allowed this to continue is as guilty as Jenkins and Dowdle.
Kuddos to the men and women of the department who came forward risking embarrassment and their jobs.
Take a look at the minutes from the Iredell County Board meetings. This department as received a lot of money for slick cars etc. The profits alone from the food service in jail are substantial. Outsiders refer to the Iredell sheriff, jail, courts as the Devils Triangle
And now one of the reserve officers on the front page of the paper with charges? How much more with come to light???
9:34, we are not safe from the sheriff's office but I'm betting we might be safer from the crooks. After all, isn't there honor among thieves? These clowns appear to have no standards whatsoever.
As for requesting a woman disrobe so he can photograph her to prove no sexual battery or whatever, isn't that the same as a sexual assault, period? Where is Chris Hanson and "Dateline" when you need them? These people are pervs and enablers of pervs. End of discussion.
For the Devil's Triangle Post they make money on the food service at the jail ? Maybe the jail canteen they have but I wouldn't think the food???? I'm lost......

Plaintiff Michael H. Robinson ("Robinson") is a former employee of the Iredell County Sheriff's Department. Robinson began his employment with Iredell County in June 2007.
Robinson was accused of making inappropriate sexual comments to three (3) different female co-workers. (Redmond Aff. ¶4; Attached Personnel Records) Robinson was terminated on February 13, 2008.
As explained by Michael Valentine, former Captain with the Iredell County Sheriff's Department, "Mr. Robinson's race did not affect the decision to terminate him in any manner. The Sheriff's Office cannot employ a deputy who has persisted in communicating to numerous female employees his desire to show them a picture of his penis." (Valentine Aff., ¶5). In either case, Plaintiff Robinson's conduct was deemed unacceptable to his employer, Sheriff Redmond, and he was let go as a result. (Document 10-1/Exh. A) (explaining that under North Carolina law, Robinson's employment was "at the pleasure" of the Sheriff).
